I finally watched Cinderella II: Dreams Come True (it was on the Wonderful World of Disney on CBC), and like Mermaid II, I was disappointed at the missed opportunity.
I was caught breathless by the opening scene with the castle, and had really high hopes. But as soon as the Fairy Godmother suggested making their own book, I knew it was downhill from there.
Cinderella's character didn't change much (kind yet spunky, and once again indulges in a little sarcasm), and once again, there's the need to laugh and cry along with her.
I wish they had combined the first and last segments, and created a feature-length movie. Had Anastasia not been so stupid, and her crying was a little more believable, the last one could have been wonderful.
What I did notice was that when Anastasia's looking at her music box, and she dreams that it turns into her and the baker, notice how Prince Charming seems to gain like 75 lbs. I thought that was kinda cool, seeing as how Cinderella and her Prince are such a good-looking couple, but Anastasia and the baker aren't. I think that's wonderful-showing how they don't have to be models to be happy.
Just my thoughts.
