Fantasyland after 1982 and before 1983
I know for a fact that most of Fantasyland was closed for its 1980s overhaul. I also know that one of the few FYL attractions to remain open during this time was the Matterhorn. My question was that the FYL attractions out at the back forty, so to speak, like Small World and Storybook Land closed with the rest of Fantasyland or were they open? Because when my mother went to Disneyland around that time and she was disappointed that it was closed. Yet I read on an official DL guide of that time that Small World, Storybook Land, the Motor Boat Cruise and the Matterhorn were open during the overhaul. Were Small World and Storybook Land open during this time or was only the Matterhorn open during this time? Thanks.

the three rides your talking about might have been closed but reopened after she was at the park but if not it was probably a misprint. do you remember the tommorowland rehab and how it looked like all the rides were down until you got to Matterhorn and you saw that Space Mt. was? i do and i was surprised when i was little. one question, why didn't they close SM with the rest of the land anyway?

Only the areas of the park directly affected by the remodel were closed in 1997 (was that the remodel you were thinking of?). Space Mountain remained opened. So did Star Tours, Autopia, Monorail and the Submarines. And oh yeah, the hat store near Autopia, the Tomorrowland Terrace restaurant and the Star Trader (Spaceman Mickey marquee and all) store were left alone, too.Disneyfreak1990 wrote:the three rides your talking about might have been closed but reopened after she was at the park but if not it was probably a misprint. do you remember the tommorowland rehab and how it looked like all the rides were down until you got to Matterhorn and you saw that Space Mt. was? i do and i was surprised when i was little. one question, why didn't they close SM with the rest of the land anyway?

I also have a question concerning the Disneyland's fantasyland.
Well in the 80's disneyland and even Disney Tokyo(not sure on Paris when that was built in 92), were able to contruct(recontruct in disneyland's case) fantasyland much better built with Pinnochio ride, better looking small world and overall theme section look more fantasy ish than disney world's. So my question is, if they worked on fantasy land in the 80's for disneyland and tokyo so well, why didn't they for Disney World?
I always find Disneyworld's fantasy land kinda crummy compared to Disneyland's.
