R.I.P. To My Dog, Sandy

Post by JiminyCrick91 »

Today, had to put down my dog Sandy. We got her in 1996 (I recall as Aladdin & the King of Thieves had just come out and I wanted to call her Genie), she was one already and a Lapso-Apso breed. We called her Sandy because even thou she was white she had many sandy colored swirls on her (most of which in time became gray). About 2003 she was chasing a rabbit when from indoors we herd a yelping. She had pulled something or something and could not walk after many weeks of concerns that the vet may have to put her down she got better aside from a limp. Since then she has bean getting fat and skinny at different times for different periods, she had heart problems and about a month and a half ago developed a bad hacking cough, hairball like. We did not take her in for fear that there was something wrong with her and every time she stopped temporarily we said oh she's fine. In time we realized we NEEDED to take her to the vet which brings us to today. We found out that her heart problem had devolved to a point where if we did not put her to sleep her heart would explode.

We will all miss her.
R.I.P. Sandy

My deepest condolences to you and your family.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I'm sorry you had to put your dog down. I can sympathize with the pain you're feeling because my cat passed away just about a month ago. I don't know what I'll do when my dog passes away, because she is my first. All I can say is I give you my condolences and I give you a *HUG*

and, in time, get a new dog. love it. you obviously have a lot of love to give, and i hope, in time, a new pet will be able to get as much love as the late Sandy did.

RIP, Sandy

That's what my local Animal Hospital does whenever I bring a ferret over to be put to sleep. They send a card that talks about the Rainbow Bridge. I actually think it's really sweet.

I'm so sorry about your dog. To me, there's nothing more heartwrenching than losing a beloved pet. They are so incredibly loyal. And though you get mad at them for barking or chewing things or wetting / stinking up the carpet, it's unbelievably sad to lose one. You only ever remember the good times and how much you really cared about them once they're gone.
