I've lived in motels myself before, including a now-gone motel that used to be on the former West Street, behind Frontierland. It's really not the ideal way to live. I'm sharing this here because if anyone can help Dave out with this, I know it would really be appreciated by the folks who live in those motels.Hello Club Members,
As you know the Extinct Attractions club seeks to help motel residents of Anaheim. In fact many families in Anaheim live in very poor sub-standard conditions. For many years when I was a teenager I lived in these hotels around Disneyland as well.
Only a few years ago these good people were basically invisible and had really no means of getting help. Since they were working, many of the normal social services did not apply.
But a few years ago a group was formed by the city to help address this issue and help these needy folks.
The City of Anaheim Homeless and Motel Resident Services Division does this job and does it very well.
They are having an event on, Saturday July 14, 2007 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Anaheim (close to Disneyland).
If any of you can help out with clothing, food, bathroom items, make up, soap, etc or just a regular cash donation of any amount, please do.
As a former motel resident myself, it’s a dark and hopeless period of these people’s lives and any nice gesture would really bolster their self-image and make their hard lives just a little bit easier.
The Information on the event is as follows:
Saturday July 14, 2007 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Person in charge is Bob Cerince
City of Anaheim, Community Services Department
Supervisor, Homeless and Motel Resident Services
200 S Anaheim Blvd.
Anaheim 92804
714-765-4486
Please do send any clothing, or other donations to Extinct Attractions, please contact Bob Cerince and mention you are with Extinct Attractions and would like to help.
I’m sure that they also need folks to staff the event as well.
The Extinct Attractions Club is holding a sale this week only for 15% off our DVDs and CDs and all proceeds are going to be donated to this event. Just put in the code “ANAHEIM” in the discount code box on our shopping cart.
To take advantage of this please visit us at:

It’s a few months away, so please save what you can, and contact Bob and see what we as a club can do to help these folks. Every single person counts, and every one of us can give just a little, and in the end it will mean more to these folks than we can imagine.
I thank you all. Please let us know if you can help. I plan to be down there on the 14th doing what we can to help promote awareness and help the people of Anaheim.
Thank you
