What a wonderful early Birthday present this should be. :D Can't wait! Avril's been my favorite singer since High School, kind of a guilty pleasure type of thing.

I've always thought she was was pretty good. A lo of my friends don't like her though...

I'm looking forward to this. I hope it has her Eragon song, "Keep Holding On." That's a good one.

See, when I heard she did a song for Eragon, I thought it'd ruin the movie. Turns out, there wasn't anything left to ruin.

What's the big deal with her anyway? She's a lame punk wannabe who can't sing her way out of a paper bag.

I think she has a great voice. Hypnotic. Plus I voted for her once on TRL and won a trip to New York.

Live, I think she sounds terrible, but I figure there's nothing wrong with enjoying her music for what it is. I generally like what she puts out. Angsty without being over the top. And as for her being a "punk-wannabe," what is "punk," anyway? I happen to like her style...and as far as I know, she was the first to do the whole girls-wearing-ties-with-tank-tops thing. I always thought she kind of started the genre/stereotype...and if she didn't, she definitely gave it publicity- and everyone likes publicity.

I also liked Ergon for what it was. I could've been developed more, but I liked it fine. I will admit that Jem's song was sooo much better.

Well, her new single "Girlfriend" leaked.

It's cute...-ish.

She sounds kind of gross at parts. Very Ashlee Simpson. I thought she'd act more mature from "Keep Holding On".

I like her new song. It's the first thing I've heard from her that isn't emo or angry.

That's the ONLY reason I hear for why people don't like her.
I just got her new album, and gotta say, it's just full of fun, quality songs. I think she has real talent for song writing, and her singing voice ain't half bad either!

Prudence, her new album has lots of fun, non-angsty stuff. Not all along the lines of Girlfriend, but still not half as much angst as in the previous album "Under My Skin".

I personally don't like her that much, but everyone's entitled to their own opinion, and some of her song's are pretty good, like Nobody's Home. I saw her on the Logies last night, which is Australia's version of the Emmys, and she performed and was just alright. She wasn't rocking out or anything, and she looked pretty lame on the red carpet wearing a black jumper and leopard print leggings, while everyone else wore glammer gowns and tuxedos. She sounded like she was just in a rehearsal for "Girlfriend" and she didn't sound too happy to be there. I know she had to, since she was on a press tour, but she could've dressed better, I'm sure a ton of designers wanted to dress her. And people came like Micheal Weatherly from NCIS (who tripped on the stage and got embaressed) and three of the Fantastic Four cast (Jessica Alba, Michael Chiklis and Ioan Grufford) and they all got dressed up and tried to educate themselves about Australian TV. Avril didn't, she didn't care about the stars there, she just looked bored. But whatever, I guess her life is pretty hectic and she must do this thing all the time, getting old fast.
What's her next single going to be? Has she done a clip yet?

From what I've heard from the radio, I like Keep Holding On a lot better than Girlfriend. Girlfriend is such a selfish song, whereas the other song is about loyalty! What are the other songs on the album like?

Yes, Girlfriend is a selfish song, but the way I understood it, it's also just for the fun of it. It's pretty clear since the other songs in the album are nothing like it. Some more self-centered than others, but hey, singers DO write about their personal experiences. There are lots of themes for her songs on the album. She sings about innocence, feelings of loss and missing someone and a lot of it is just her basically having a blast.

I'd recommend you get your hands on track #8, "Innocence". It's a really touching song, and I'm sure a lot of people would be able to relate to it easily.

Agreed. Though I have semi-enjoyed a couple of her songs, she is for the very most part absolutely terrible. Her new single "Girlfriend" makes my ears bleed.

I may be alone on this, but I love "Girlfriend", Extremely catchy beat, great hook. Reminds me a lot of that "Hey Mickey" song from the 80's.

As much as I thought I wouldn't like this whole album, I'm really enjoying it. a lot of the songs REALLY get stuck in your head after a couple of listens.

I also would say that "Innocence" is one of the albums better songs for sure.
