Hmm, that's very interesting, though it was most likely to happen since they have become OOP. I've never seen any of the package features, but this South American feeling that I've heard about them makes me eager to see them. This may be a potential blind-buy for me.

Re: Salduos Amegios/ 3 Amegios
*whoo hoo* I'm so gon'na buy these package films, haven't seen Salduos Amegios before, what does the ORIGNAL contain? I'm a fan of 3 Amegios and missed out on the 2nd video release. Hopefuly this will be 2 disc Special Edition Disney will release.
As much as I love The Three Caballeros, I'm worried that they'll try to edit out José Carioca's cigar (man, there are, like, no scenes where he doesn't have that huge thing. It's not like a cigarette) or restore it to make up for the state of special effects technology.
Because, I mean, while it is a little wierd to see the grain and inferior image quality projected onto a screen behind the live actors, it is still is a record of old special effects that were brand new at the time. It's like how it took SO long for the original non-special-edition Star Wars trilogy took so long to get on DVD. George Lucas was all "it's better this way! It's the completed version" and we were all "No! We want the 70s special effects. These movies were monumental for a reason!"
The last DVD of the movie came from a good print and it had its grain, but it was from the 40s, so, you know! Those movies have some grain. I hope they don't feel the need to overpolish it the way they've overdone some movies...

Wow!
That IS good news. I have all the old (gold edition?) releases, but new transfers would be most welcome. And if they include the bonus material that Escapay mentions from the LD release, I'll definitely get them all. Oh, who am I kidding? I'll get them all, no matter what they include.

Glad to hear this is coming. If Disney is committed to doing their classic titles right, they'll include everything that was included in that laserdisc set (which is quite a bit). I know for certain that all that would fit onto a Blu-Ray disc. It would have to be a multi-disc set to all fit onto a SD-DVD, though. But why have DVD if you're not going to do it right?
Question
I have yet to see these films, in fact they are the only two Disney animated classics I have yet to see. Are they similar in format to "Make Mine Music" and "Melody Time" in that they are a series of animated shorts? Or are they full length feature films?
Either way, it is cool news that these films will be coming to DVD (hopefully). That way, if I never find somewhere to rent them, I can always buy them on a decent DVD release (again, hopefully).

"Saludos Amigos" is a very short series of animated shorts, and I think it's like only 40 minutes long. "Three Caballeros" is a bunch of shorts, but has the frame of Donald's birthday, so it tends to feel (to me anyway) more like a legit movie. Most of the cartoons in the movie are presented as a movie Donal watches or an adventure he goes on with Jose Carioca or Panchito. It's a fun movie, one of my favorites as a kid.Simba3 wrote:Question

A more accurate way of describing The Three Caballeros would be that it starts out as shorts and then slowly descends into madness. If you see it as a kid you won't care, but as an adult it comes off as very, very strange.
