Hastings

Post by TheNikki »

I'm not sure how many of you have access to the store "Hastings", but I've found it's my go-to place for hard to find DVDs seeing as they have a huge selection of used DVDs and of recent I've been finding ones that I'm missing.

Two weeks ago I found The Lion King 2 - Special Edition, complete with slip cover. I picked up Mulan - 2 Disc Special Edition and Mulan II both with slip covers and in great condition.

Today I managed to pick up a used copy of Chicken Little since I've never seen it and I ran across the limited edition of The Emporors New Groove, the 2-disc collector's version that I've never seen before but have heard it's hard to find.

So if you've got access to a Hastings, I'd recommend checking it out. I'm hoping beyond hope that I run across a copy of Beauty and The Beast, The Lion King, or Sleeping Beauty sometime there.

Oh and FYI, most of their used DVDs are under ten dollars. I paid like twelve for the two disc "New Groove" set but it's a bigger DVD.

Anyone else enjoy this place and find good stuff there?

I know!
I had never heard of Hastings until coming to school in Seguin. Then my parents moved to Kerrville, where they also have a store. It seems like they're everywhere now...

Anyway, they are really great for finding old, OOP DVDs. I don't, however, recommend buying new DVDs there, unless they are quite old. Hastings has a tendency to overprice their new items (their copies of the 2005 Tarzan DVD are $24).
But if you're looking for rare stuff, give Hastings a look. You can also check they're website, gohastings.com.

I once found a used Snow White PE in great condition. I was ecstatic, since I hadn't begun to collect DVDs in 2001.

WARNING:
Hastings, while being a great DVD store, has some innappropriate-ness to it. I wouldn't recommend bringing curious or wandering children with you. Hastings doesn't always keep their selection of pornographic DVDs and magazines hidden, and some of the movie paraphanalia (sp?) they stock can be visually jarring.
I don't speak for all locations, but the one next to my school is quite... seedy :headshake: .
:pan: Love It.

yeah, i've been there, you can buy really random disney movies that you don't find in wal-mart, Oliver and Company, Pete's Dragon, Black Cauldron, and the Rescuers for less than $20.00. i like going there and look around and see which disney movie i'm missing and buy them.

I've never heard of it.
And I just went to the site though, and it says there is only one Hastings in Alabama...far away from where I live.

Sucks. Bad :(
Just like a river rushing straight into the sea.... I'm the one thing meant for you, and you for me

It amuses me that the Hastings in other areas could be considered "seedy". The one in our area is in a really nice location next to a huge Old Navy store.

Our store is really nice and new inside and I've never seen "adult" movies in there, but then again Arkansas has some strange rules regarding those types of movies.

hastings is really good, but sometimes the DVDs are damaged, but still, there's so many OOP movies for $15.00.

My Hastings won't sell the used DVDs unless they are playable and they are really good about refunding your money if the DVD you get won't play. I've never had a problem with them.
