I was just trying to be clever, sorry. But yes, even in Perri I think there are a couple of dead bodies. And of course The African Lion and Jungle cat are films about preditors, so they kill other animals... But to be honest, I don't think the TLAs are gross at all.blackcauldron85 wrote:I know that the lemmings NOW have since died, but I meant died during the filming of them jumping. Let me tell you a little story of 2 girls walking to school/the bus stop (in middle school). One was yours truly, and one was her best friend. Yours truly would see roadkill and scream loudly at 6-something in the morning in a neighborhood full of houses. Yours truly FREAKS out at the sight of anything dead.Billy Moon wrote:I was just trying to be clever, sorry. But yes, even in Perri I think there are a couple of dead bodies. That's understandlbe Amy, I have a fear of Dogs (It was really bad when I was lil) and I'm surpised too cause I'm not afraid of my own dog but other dogs I"m a chicken round 'em even if they turn out to be nice. T.L.A should be brought back in Biology, sure it might not catch the students' attention but the facts are possibly more accurate for a 50s document.
ps: Amy I sent an Jim Hill e-mail to ya. Do people ever check their inbox or is it invisble to them? *chuckles*

I just saw the post on the main page regarding the misframing issue being dealt with and was wondering if they replace for foreign customers? Or am I best trying to get someone in the US to do it for me?MikeyMouse wrote:So, unfortunately, no press-stopping news, just some reinforcement of what we've already heard, as well as minor clarification on some items. I encourage all of you to call WDHE (800-723-4763) to either request your replacement discs (in the case of More Silly Symphonies), request that defective titles be added to the replacement program (in the case of the TLAs), or to show your support for both the Treasures line and Leonard Maltin.
Also out of curiosity what was the issue with More Silly Symphonies?

According to Lars, it was a framing issue and also a title card issue... I am going to call that WDHE 800-723-4763 which i believe is the disc replacement hotline and ask what is going on with the Silly Symphonies recall issue. If I get any news, I will post it here in the TLA and in the Treasures thread.Douglas Fir wrote:

If its a blanket "recall" then I should be able to participate in the recall regardless of whether or not mine has the problem, however, its a big hassle. If the title cards on all the sets are bad too, I guess it is better to turn mine in rather than keep a defective set. Ah, decisions, decisions. Well I guess the most important problem is if Maltin is being cut off in mid-sentence....Lars Vermundsberget wrote:Oh yeah, there was mentioned a "glitch". I experienced that at least two Leonard Maltin intro pieces were cut short before he was finished speaking. Others have seen this as well. I don't know if this depends on the player or if there are some discs that have the problem and others that don't...
Lars, do you remember where in the DVD disc the Maltin gliches occur? (beginning? near end?) Since I've never watched any of my tins, I have no idea if he only talks at the beginning or throughout the DVD presentation.
I will call the recall hot-line later today and see what they have to say and report back here.

Why not?Pluto Region1 wrote:I've never watched any of my tins
If the only problem with More SS (that's going to be corrected on the replacement discs) are the title cards, I think I'll just stick with the discs I have. It really doesn't make any difference if the title cards are remade ones or recreated ones resembling the originals. Neither ones are the original ones.

UPDATE ON SILLY SYMPHONIES RECALL
This has also been posted at the Treasures thread:

I just got off the phone with Disney Disc/Replacement Hot-line. Here is the scoop.
They are not calling it a recall, I think its an "exchange" program. But if you use that term, they'll know what you are talking about. You need to call there and set up an account and when the new replacement discs for Silly Symphonies are ready, they will either send out a mailer with mailing label to you, or send the replacement out and ask you to return the original disc. You will not have to turn in your tins. She did not have any idea when the Silly Symphonies replacement discs would be ready.
This is the only Recall of the set. Pluto - there's no recall for that. Also, she said it was only due to some title card issues and would not say it had anything to do with Leonard Maltin's discussion being cut off.
When you call there, press "3" for "you are having technical difficulties with your DVD." It will say you need to have your DVD player make and model # at hand, but just ignore that info. Have your inner vinyl case or Tin with you. You need to provide a stock # that is on the back of it. Two little white squares at the bottom of the case saying "proof of purchase." The number is at the bottom of the squares.
If you have called there for anything in the past, for example slipcovers 2 years ago, they will have you in their system (your name, address, phone no. etc). You won't need your original receipt for purchase to participate in the exchange program.
Per MK Sharpl recall extends to overseas customers.
Lars, how many people have reported that they experienced that problem with Maltin? If you call, I would have your DVD player make and model # handy just in case. However if alot of people have the problem with Maltin being cut off, then Disney should be notified so they can re-do the discs.

I don't think there's confirmed any problem with the Pluto set - that was probably just a misunderstanding at an earlier stage.
As for the "glitches" in the LM intro pieces - I cannot remember that a lot of people reported it, but someone (at least one, maybe two) on this forum noticed it. I've only played the Silly Symphonies on my computer so far - it might work better on a "real" DVD player for all I know. I haven't played it all yet, but I can tell that it occured at least on two Maltin pieces on disc one.

Re: True-Life Replacement DVD's Already Recieved
Mine came on Friday as well (TLAs only...not the Silly Symphonies). I need to fill out the form to send back the bad disc back, but the new one looks to be just fine (I only needed Vol.1 of the TLAs for the "Prowler" color issue).wg4ever wrote:Don't know about anyone else, but I recieved my replacement dvds in the mail on April 27,2007

I'm sorry to dig up an old topic, but I couldn't find my answer in a reasonable time. I called Disney today to request replacements for True Life Adventures discs containing Prowlers of the Everglades and Secrets of Life. The representative was extremely pleasant, helpful, and she immediately knew what I was talking about. The mailers for me to send back the discs for replacement are on their way, but I have a question first.
Does anyone here have the replacement for Secrets of Life with the proper aspect ratio? The rep told me it's only about a minute of film that needed to be corrected, and I'm wondering if I should send back my "improper" disc. The reason is that I'm afraid the film in its proper ratio will appear like the opening of Brother Bear where the narrower portion of the film is shown within the cinemascope ratio instead of full frame on my standard tv. In other words, will the 1.33:1 portion of the movie, which is the majority of the film, fill my standard screen, or will it look like a tiny box within a cinemascope presentation for over an hour until the end when it widens for the finale...like with Brother Bear's opening only narrower? Should I get that disc replaced?

No, can't remember exactly but it's more like 5-10 minutes.gardener14 wrote:Does anyone here have the replacement for Secrets of Life with the proper aspect ratio? The rep told me it's only about a minute of film that needed to be corrected
The disc is formatted for standard 4:3 televisions. The standard full frame portion of the movie fills the whole screen of a traditional 4:3 Television. And the cinemascope finale will also stretch right across the whole screen like normal when watching cinemscope films on a traditional 4:3 TV.gardener14 wrote:The reason is that I'm afraid the film in its proper ratio will appear like the opening of Brother Bear where the narrower portion of the film is shown within the cinemascope ratio instead of full frame on my standard tv. Thank you so much ichabod. That's just the information I wanted. I thought the rep was wrong and that the cinemascope finale was more than just a minute, but I didn't watch it again to find out. I will definitely send it back along with Prowlers of the Everglades when my envelopes arrive.
The rep told me I would have to send back the originals. and then they would send the replacements to me. I seem to recall others saying they got the new discs first, but that's ok. I'm a little concerned about sending away my original discs and owning nothing for a while, but I trust Disney will send me the new discs promptly.
Thanks again, ichabod.

I think that it was just non US / Canada people that got the discs sent to them without needing to return the original discs.gardener14 wrote:The rep told me I would have to send back the originals. and then they would send the replacements to me.
