I have not yet bought volume 1. Would it at this point be possible to order that volume without those problems?

And how is the "More Silly Symphonies" volume in the Walt Disney Treasures line doing?

Lars - well actually there isnt that big a problem with Volume 1 as long as you are not completely lazy. Mine worked perfectly after I switched the inputs.
And my volume 4 had the right aspect ratio.

Well, I'm not sure everyone will be able to "switch inputs". I guess I can't.

That's rather insulting to say, actually. If you don't have separate inputs, then this fix is impossible. Laziness has nothing to do with it.

I just received this same email. I'm pleasantly surprised! I hope this turns out correctly on both counts.

I came home tonight to find a phone message from WDHE indicating that my Vol. 1 would be replaced. I mentioned Vol. 4 when I called originally, but since I got a good copy I didn't ask for a replacement. I'm glad to hear they're replacing both.

...now if they'd just get the Treasures replacements out that were supposed to go last month...

So now we come to the REAL DELICATE problem for us outside of the US.
What should we do with our defective disc to get them replaced?
Any fellow Disney-friend over in the States that can help me out?
I feel rather stranded on this subject out here! And think there´s more like me in this situation. 8)

I live in Europe in the Netherlands and I contacted them about the problems (Volume 1 and 4, for me) through the "report a problem page" of the Disney site.
They answered and asked for my address, which I gave them of course.

And now I also received this E-mail, saying the discs were ready and that they will be sent to me.
So I really hope they will.

Can anyone please help me? I have been off the forums for so long... I see along with a recall for Vol 1 and 4 of TLA, there may be something wrong with the Wave 6 Silly Symphonies and Pluto Tins?

I have both of those tins but have not opened them, I have now broken the shrink-wrap just to check. But I don't have time to watch 12 hours of DVDs (or however long it takes) to find where the problem might be. Can someone please tell me what to look for to see if I got a defective discs?

Are any of the other 2 Treasures tins of Wave 6 bad?

Do you think I can still get them replaced without a receipt? I don't know if I still have the receipts.... I've saved the shrink-wrap with the Best Buy bar codes and price stickers on it.

And lastly, to replace, I call: WDHE (800-723-4763) ?'

A big thank you in advance to whom ever can help me.

I also live in The Netherlands and also received the mail that my discs are being sent to me, including a return slip. Just hope they arrive before I leave for my honeymoon (on May 5).

There were some title card issues and odd framing issues with Silly Symphonies Vol. 2, but nothing to note with Pluto. WDHE has announced that they are replacing the SS in MARCH (2007), but we haven't heard anything as of yet. I'm actually surprised they started replacing the TLAs first, since they announced the replacements for WDT long ago.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly on this MM. I do appreciate it. So I guess I should check back here to see if there's any updates. It looks like UD has been assigned its very own BVHE Rep now to announce things here? or perhaps I should call the phone number given earlier for the TLA recall. Title card issues doesn't sound like a big enough deal to me, but I if they are replacing, I guess I should get in line. Thanks again MM!

Corrected Discs received

Post by Michael Grabowski »

My corrected discs arrived Thursday (shipped from Neenah, WI to southern CA). Both discs were in the same padded envelope, in two separate sleeves. Both the color problem on Everglades and the format problem on Secrets of Life have been fixed. A form was included asking for detailed information about the problem and a pre-paid postage label was included to return the original discs. I just recycled the envelope for that purpose.

Applause to WDHV for addressing this issue quickly and well, at least in my case. I hope everyone who called or wrote in receives similar service. WDHV has committed serious sins, not least of which is the proliferation of DTVequels and the inconsistent restoration of its Platinum/Special Editions and Treasures. But considering that the True-Life Adventures releases have limited profit potential in the first place, I sure appreciate the effort and money they've spent to fix this particular problem.

So I understand from reading this thread that the problem seemed to be limited to certain productions runs, with some people not having the problems? So the question is, did they pull all of them out of the stores, and if not, if I go and buy the sets that are out there, I probably would have to go through this whole mess with customer service?

yes, I think it has been an expensive mess for Disney to have to issue these recalls and go through a whole replacement program. Cant be good for a product that had such limited sales in the first place, and although Disney is a huge corporation with profits elsewhere, they probably look at profit and loss based on the actual business unit. If anything they are probably yelling at the original restoration shop over this.

Pluto - Volume 4 is restricted to certain discs however the Volume 1 problem is on all discs.

Thanks Mr. Toad. I still am wondering if they recalled them out of stores, or if they are just going to let the public buy defective discs. or I guess they'll just wait and see if anyone calls in and complains about defects and then offer to replace them.
