For "Cinderella II", I can imagine you'd have to pay $20+ on top of the rental price (heck, "Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella", the one starring Brandy, was $16.99 + rental, and you can even buy that at the DMC). And, they give you what you pick up off the shelf- in the black Blockbuster case). If you're not interested in that, I'd be curious to see how much it would cost extra (since my Blockbuster doesn't have the movie).

blockbusters sells all there dvd's this way or only a few of them? cause i might go pick up lion king, beauty and the beast!!

I'm pretty sure it's all of them. When I recently went to Blockbuster a couple weeks ago, I had known that I had heard somewhere that you can buy rentals that aren't normally for sale to own. I asked the employee working, and he said that the price depends on the movie, but that it's usually rental price + $10-$20, and, when I mentioned Disney movies, he said that those can often cost more, because of the Vault. It doesn't hurt to go to Blockbuster and ask. Just make sure that you ask to see the quality of the disc- if they have multiple copies, you're allowed to look at them all and choose the least scratched one.

But remember what blackcauldron told me, you don't get the DVD's original case.

It's not the original case, and you don't get the inserts, but you do get the front & back artwork case cover sheet (I don't know what it's called, but the sheet on the case that has the cover artwork and the info on the back).

Wait, the front and back artwork summary printed by BLOCKBUSTER, or the front and back artwork that came in the original case?

i think he means the front and back art that comes in the original case i think the only things you dont get are the case and inserts. so its a pretty good deal for out of print dvds cause you can always go and buy a new case!!

That's good to know! Because I plan on trading in my copy of Catch That Kid, which comes in a white case, so I will just swap out the case for Catch That Kid for the black Blockbuster case!

And, unlike when Blockbuster had VHS tapes, the original cover picture & back page are intact, just put in a black Blockbuster case.

my blockbuster has a cinderella 2 on dvd but it doesnt have the art for the covers and they also have one on vhs with the art if anyone is interested.

Whoo! That's great! I may have to go in and take a look. When you get the front and back cover art, will anything be distorted (as in, maybe cut up to fit into a smaller case, etc.)?

The cases aren't any smaller than the normal cases, and all the outside artwork is there. I don't know why C2 at bigTimeathletics' Blockbuster doesn't have the artwork...that's weird.

What I don't understand is, why is "Cinderella II" the hardest DVD to find? I mean, if so many people think of it as a "cheapquel", why would everyone want it? Not everyone is a Disney DVD collector...it boggles my mind. I really really wish I didn't sell my VHS copy (but how could I have known how hard it is to get on either format)?

It wasn't hard to find in either format before it went in the vault. I bought the video the day it was released, but "lost" it some months later. (I then found it again a few years later at a friend's house.) While I thought it was lost, I bought the DVD - and it was at Walmart and very easy to find. I bought Mulan in the late autumn of 2002 as well and it was a lot harder to locate.

Heh. My little cousin had a Cinderella II coloring book that she never finished and sold at a yard sale. (Why would anyone want to buy a 33% colored coloring book? She purposely colored my favorite character horribly.

As in, a green tongue and purple skin.)

Off the topic, I know. But at least it's Cinderella II related. I watched the Royal Banquet scene so much that my DVD messes up at that part now.

As to your actual question, maybe a great deal of people want to see what happened "in between" the two Cinderella movies, not realizing that "in between" is now technically "afterwards."

Or maybe I talked about it so much in 2002 that everyone bought it. Just kidding.

That's good to know. I will be going to Blockbuster either today or tomorrow, so I will find out more info then I guess...

Well, a few months ago, someone on here posted that they were able to find brand new copies of Cinderella II, Sleeping Beauty (with a slipcover!) at their local Walgreens. I checked my Walgreens, and I had no luck. I also checked my Circuit City for a new copy of CII just in case, but no luck. The reason I checked Circuit City is because the way they organize all their DVDs (except for their TV Show box sets) are horrendous and basically aren't organized. I also checked because a few months ago I saw a new copy of the Gold Collection of The Aristocats, but passed because the SE was SUPPOSED to be released March 27th, and it was close to the supposed release of the SE.

So if you have a Walgreens nearby, check there. Also, if your Circuit City has a horrendously organized DVD sections, check there as well.

I personally like the sequels, so I'd like a copy. I was going to buy the DVD new at Blockbuster about 4 years ago, but, at over $20, I thought it was too much...I bought the VHS used, but I sold it with my other VHS tapes...

As far as I know, the Walgreens near us don't have any Disney movies besides some animated ones when they come out (I bought "Brother Bear 2" there when it came out).

Where do you buy VHSs USED? You should check your Walgreens just to be safe. Someone had also mentioned to check CVS. I went into CVS to check, but the one by me now only sells new DVDs (as in just released)...

I bought Cinderella 2 off of Half.com and got it for $15.99, just go there now, there are tons of copies for under $20. Just read the description and make sure it is the Region 1 and sealed and that they show the picture of the cover. Mine is the original release and NOT a bootleg.
