Actually, I'm kind of hoping that there will NOT be a Mickey Mouse Club Treasure set, because if there is it will probably be the only Treasure I will not be interested in owning. The only draw the show would have for me would be the cartoons, but why not get all of those cartoons as part of other treasure sets? Other than that I can't remember being enchanted with anything else with MMC.

Disney Treasures Wave IV: the Mickey Mouse Club??
I was very curious about an item I saw in the upcoming releases section of this website that mentioned that an expected edition of Disney Treasures Wave IV would be "The Mickey Mouse Club." How reliable is this information? I thought that I had read on other websites that there was a problem with residuals and/or permissions of former cast members that would prevent there from being a Mickey Mouse Club Treasure.

Well, they were fun shows. I watched the b&w version growing up and it was a highlight of my day. Then they repleaced it with a 1970's version that I didn't care for... they had those other versions, but I wasn't into them either.
You aren't too far away from me, about 40 minutes! That's cool, another local, for me anyway, on the board. Welcome!

Thanks for the welcome! Where exactly is Mohnton? I thought I knew all the nooks and crannies around here by now.
Tell me, it's been a while - what did a typical Mickey Mouse Club episode consist of? I remember the great theme, of course, and the wacky intros with Donald & his mischievous nephews, and the cartoon - but that's about it.

Since there are some younguns out there...
The original black-and-white "Mickey Mouse Club" aired weekday afternoons on ABC (the show was filmed at the Disney Studios in Burbank, as opposed to childrens' series like "Howdy Doody" done live from NBC Studios in New York).
Each "MMC" ep started with the animated opening theme, then one of five animated intros with Mickey Mouse, describing that day's theme (such as special guest day, fun with music day, anything can happen day, etc).
From there, the Mouseketeers took over with songs, special demonstrations, and good ol' fashioned showmanship.
Each day's show also included a Mousekartoon, and yes these were just Disney theatrical shorts. Some episodes included serials, specially filmed stories chopped into chapters aired on the series over time. The best-remembered is probably "Spin and Marty."
New animation on "MMC" was minimal and corners were definitely cut--after all, they were filming--not taping, filming--5 hour-long shows per week! (The show was cut to 30 minutes after the first season I believe)
This information comes from a fantastic book called "The Wonderful World of Disney Television" by Bill Cotter.
Any fan of classic Disney, classic children's TV, or both is crossing fingers and toes that this Treasures release might happen. Heck, I'd be happy to see a straight DVD reissue of the VHS eps Disney put out some time ago!
See ya real soon!

I finally watched my MMC Treasure DVDs and I can say that I am disappointed--disappointed in the lack of extras, considering the amount of extra space they must have had on the discs.
If Fox can put 4 hour-long full-color anamorphic wide-screen episodes of "24" on a single disc, I would think that 5 B&W episodes of MMC left a lot left over. I would think at the least they could have included the 5 final cahpaters of the serial--yeah, I know it was a pretty lame serial, but I hate to be left hanging.
