That's because it's not a children's film.Princess Stitch wrote:When Fantasia was re-released I couldn't wait to watch it, but when I saw it, I didn't really care for it (I was like 8 at the time). Now I appreciate it, but I was expecting that out of a Disney movie at the time.

I'm sure I appreciate the "artsy" aspect of Disney even more than most. I'll still have to admit, though, that I had a hard time getting the "point" of Fantasia the very first time I saw it. A special DVD release of Destino is something I'd look forward to and I hope it hasn't been put entirely on the shelf. But I'd understand it if they don't expect it to be a big seller in the mass market...

Way back, when I saw Fantasia for the first time I was 16, and I instantly fell in love with the film. I guess it was a good age to start watching Disney films.
I'm really interested in seeing Destino. The fact that it was put back to production after such a long time makes me a little suspicious, though.

You forgot:merlinjones wrote:Since "Disneyland: Secrets, Stories and Magic" is a recent documentary/compilation, rather than film from the Disney vaults, it differs from the rest of the Treasures line. I hope it's possible to piggyback a few of the unreleased Disneyland TV episodes onto this release in sort-of a reverse supplementary fashion. In particular, any of these:
Disneyland Showtime
Disneyland Goes to the World's Fair
The Golden Horseshoe Revue
From the Pirates of the Caribbean to the World of Tomorrow
Disneyland Around the Seasons
Gala Day at Disneyland
I'd hate to see any opportunity to get these shows out slip by!
Disneyland U.S.A. (theatrical short)
A Trip Through Adventureland
Disneyland the Park/Pecos Bill
An Adventure In the Magic Kingdom
Disneyland '61/Olympic Elk

CELEBRATE
I am so excited to find out about the Treasures series is BACK!!!! YEAH!!!
I'm sorry to bump - it took 1/2 hour to read to the end of this thread and I haven't posted in so long.... so I at least had to post. Woohoo!!! I know I am in the minority here when I say I did not care for the packaging of the TLA and in fact, I did not buy any of them.
and another point, I strongly suspect you guys here at UD played a role in this reversal - who else can we credit for this complete turn around? Give yourselves a big high-five!

Leonard Maltin has posted some updated info on his website. You can read the exact quote on leonardmaltin.com.
He verifies that the Oswald set will contain the documentary on Ub Iwerks "The Hand Behind The Mouse". I have the book and video and much look forward to having this film on DVD.
He also verifies that the Disneyland set will have "a number of vintage shorts and TV shows about the park - including some genuine rarities". To me, this means it is likely that the Peoples And Places featurette "Disneyland U.S.A." will probably be on this set, as well as some of the better Disneyland themed TV shows. I much look forward to later details on the contents, including what obscure rarities might be included.
The only info on the Chronological Donald is that it is Volume 3 that is being released. I had emailed him on his earlier entry with the misinformation of stating Volume 4 - he replied that it was just a typo, it is Volume 3 being released this time.
Leonard repeats that the Treasures' release date is still 11 December.
He states more details to come - I much look forward to future details.

Disney Newsreel newsletter has just confirmed that the 1956 42 minute People and Places featurette "Disneyland USA" has been restored and will be included on the upcoming Disneyland disc.
Walt Disney Archives will actually be hosting a screening of it on the big screen on July 17 at the Studio lot in Burbank for DL's 52nd anniversary.

Thats actually disappointing. I was hoping we would see all the Peoples and Places as a set and this might decrease the chances of that happening.

I am very excited about this program being included. The newsletter shows images of the restoration and they look spectacular. They only have shown small snippets of it on Cast TV, and I've been wanting to see the whole thing.
Now if only they had the Holidaytime at Disneyland special that Walt hosted, I would be satisfied with this set!
It´s not the TV-series we are talking about here - it´s the Disney Treasure Disneyland (about the park)Mason_Ireton wrote:I was hoping and still hoping that Alice's X-mas (One Hour in Wonderland) andXmas (The Walt Disney Xmas Show) shows up on the new Disneyland dvd. Maybe they should release the Disneyland series in seasons for the treasure.
