Scooby-Doo and Flintstones DVD

You all probably already know but season sets of Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? and The Flintstones are coming out this year...
Anyone like these series?

Scooby Doo is the ultimate formula for a children's cartoon series ever? Notice how it only goes "pear shaped" when they muck about with the formula. Everything about the original series is close to perfection. Who cares if they just keep repeating the same storyline week after week?

Is Scooby Dum in the first two seasons? I actually dislike Scooby Dum more than Scrappy. Anyhow it doesn't matter. I hope we see Daphne's rich Uncle in one of the episodes in the set.

Needless to say I'm waiting with bated breath for the first 2 seasons in one DVD package.

As for the Flintstones, I never liked it. Never.

Damn straight. There is something about that sense of familiar that keeps people coming back, isn't there? Witness the success of M*A*S*H for 11 seasons. I have not seen the recent movies - did they depart drastically? Do we finally get to the bottom of Velma's lesbianism? Or was all that covered in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back?

I can't watch Scooby Doo without thinking of Dreamcatcher. The scenes where Donnie Wahlberg says "Ooby Ooby Ooo...ee ot ome erk oo oo now" are worth framing...cracks me up man....

As for the spin-offs. I'm in two minds. I don't know if I like Scrappy Doo, and I don't remember enough of Scooby Dum. I did know that I liked the Flintstone's Spin-offs - espcailly the one with the teenage Pebbles and Bam-Bam. I distinctly recall some guy that always gave them bad luck when he walked by. Nobody else seems to remember this...

I'll definitely be picking up both, but I wonder if I'll enjoy them as much. I can't see why not - I catch the occasional repeat and enjoy it. Mind you, I still have to get that Looney Tunes box before I proceed with anything else...

I like both series, but I can't see myself wanting to rewatch them frequently enough to warrent buying them for such a hefty price. I'm glad they're finally coming to DVD though - its long overdue.

I like both Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? and The Flintstones I watch them both when was growing up in the 1990's.
Both shows are wonderful and funny.

They're going for the same box designs and layouts as the Looney Tunes Golden Collection. Nice to see some uniform packages!

Talking of Scooby Doo, I've just downloaded the Scooby Doo 2 trailer. I love the inclusion of the old "classic" Scooby Doo monsters. But once again they're screwing with the characters

They're screwing with them even more, look at Velma in this... Isn't the point of making a Scooby Doo movie to actually make a Scooby Doo movie, with the Scooby Doo characters? If not, why bother? You can put a new spin on them if you want. You can make fun of them if you want. But don't just ignore 30+ years of history. The new Scooby Doo animated movies manage to do something new with the characters while at the same time reamining faithful.

I dunno, a step forward (the classic mosters) is negated by a step back (even more screwed up characters than in the first movie). Oh, and even the trailer includes the now obligitary "family film" fart joke.

I don't mind "Scooby Doo", but I'm more of a "Flintstones" kinda guy. I will probably own both, but I'm going to have problems waiting for the "Flintstones."

I will probably buy both, more for nostalgia, if anything. hopefully they will be in air date order, and not production date.

4 discs each fully restored 4:3 prints and only the mono tracks will be included!

scooby will have season 1 & 2 in one set while flinstone will have 25 episodes

Wow, that is a little pricey... but I'm sure the online retailers will have it for significantly less...

They're the same price as the Looney Tunes set, so will be available online and in the shops for the same price those are going for (about $40).

There's also "The Complete Johnny Quest" in the works, which will be all of the original cartoons.

I used to love both of these shows when I was a kid but watching them now, there just terrible (can't tell ya why though).

I hope our kids/grand kids don't look at The Simpsons or Futurama in the same way when they're grown up.
