Yeah, every once in a while I get a damaged DVD case, as well. I'm pretty careful about the exterior before buying, but sometimes there's a problem with the interior of the case... sometimes it won't close properly due to one of the clips being broken/warped... or the hub is defective. I've found these problems to happen most frequently with the Alphapak cases... and all the ones I've ever had trouble with (probably 4 or 5) were from Disney.

Fortunately, I keep a fair supply of both single and double Alphapak and Amaray DVD cases... mostly in dark gray, but maybe a dozen or so white spares at any given time. It took me a while to find a local store which supplied these cases, given most stores only sell extremely cheap cases made mostly of out recycled plastic. This is also how I replaced the later Treasure cases... starting when Disney changed to white Alphapak, then back to a cheaper generic black.

Disney probably won't send you the case. I think they only do a replacement if your disc is damaged. Lucally, the Pocahontas case is black and it's easy to find a black replacement case. I know you can get them at dollar stores usually, although obviously they won't be really high quality.

I had a dvd slim case from a season set from Disney arrive with a large tear in it. I emailed them and they responded with them telling me to give them a call.

Next day I called them and they were very helpful and nice. The woman I talked to apolgized and sent me a out a brand new case, no charge to me, and she made sure nothing else was damaged, ie artwork.

Just give them a call and they will help you.

I shudder to think how he'll react when he finds out some DVDs never had slipcovers made for them...

It's not the end of the world, kid. You got the DVD, that's what matters, right?

(silence)

Right???

i have a dvd where it is cracked but it's not the end of the world. i've had it where the clear plastic was busted like on my Herbie Rides Again. and it's also not the end of the world if you don't have a slipcover like Escapy said. the only ones i keep are for those that stay together because of them or if they look better than the actual cover like Roger Rabbit.

I really need to know what all this fuss about slip covers is all about. I like slipcovers, true - especially the holographic ones Disney have been making lately. But, listen, no sane person is going to pass up on a decent DVD simply because it's missing a stupid piece of cardboard! :D
