I personally don't think thats accurate.

17 songs before the intermission? I think Under The Sea will be the big ending to Act I, kinda like Defying Gravity or Big, Blonde & Beautiful. And think about it, 26 songs, both Acts would each have 13 musical numbers. But it's neat that there is more titles listed.

Unless they are considering making this more like an Opera. Opera's don't have speaking roles. If you have seen/heard the original Broadway RENT then you'd see that it has 20 songs in the first act and 12 songs in the second act. RENT is considered to be a Rock Opera technically, and it has little to none spoken lines. That would be an interesting idea for this show due to the fact that most of the legend of the mermaid is about how they lured sailors to the sea with their singing and all that.

I always thought "Poor Unfortunate Souls" would be the act one finale. It's big plot point, it extends the first act to be longer than the second, and it frees up "Posituvity" to be the traditional goofy act two opening song.

"Poor Unfortunate Souls" makes a much better closing number for the first act than "Under the Sea". It ends at a much more dramatic point there, and sets things up for the second act much better. Usually the first act ends on a song similar to this, with some sort of "crisis". I believe "Defying Gravitity" serves the same purpose, but I haven't seen the show. I feel like the first act is almost always more music heavy than the second, so I'm not surprised to see that many numbers there either. Anyways, I can't wait for this to come out. Hopefully I'll be able to make it up to NYC to see it with the original cast.

It might be that there are so many songs in the first half as they are very short? Just an idea. That way it just looks way longer than it actually is.

This is looking to be amazing though! I cannot wait for it to come to the UK!

Also, I think "Human Stuff" would go before "Part of Your World". And "Shes In Love" after "Part of Your World Reprise".

I am excited about new Ariel song "The World Above" and, Flounder with hopefully Ariel's sisters "She's In Love".

I really love the idea of a song for Ariel's sisters, since they only had like 3 minutes screen time in the original movie, and I always loved "Daughters of Triton", so an all new sng for them makes me happy.

The song list, although awesome, seems a bit confusing. Some of the songs in Act I don't belong in the right place, or maybe the B-way version will be very different from the movie. Although Act II seems perfect but I'm kinda confused with the placement of Poor Unfortunate Souls Reprise. It seems logically for it to come after Kiss the Girl. Oh well, we'll just have to see.

There's nothing wrong with all those songs being in Act I. In fact, it's kinda normal for the song list in Act I to be longer than the ones in Act II. Also, Poor Unfortunate Souls is a good song to end Act I, more than Under the Sea IMO.

Yeah - I agree. You can't end the first Act with "Under the Sea". I think this number is the intended show-stopper (think "be our guest" from Beauty and the Beast). It excites the audience fairly early in the show, the story is set, but hasn't reached a point where a light-hearted number would feel out of place. The First Act usually ends on a powerful number which leaves the audience in suspense. You don't want to excite the audience and then drop the curtain.

However, until we see an official song list we'll just have to keep guessing.

This song list could be correct as many of the tracks are reprises. That unfairly makes it appear uneven.

Okay, bear with me here. I saw The Little Mermaid On Ice, and besides the fact that it's a live show version of Ariel's story, it's also connected to this in that the merpeople were skating around, just with ice skates instead of heelies.

Anyway, I bought the program, commemortaing book or whatever it's called from the ice show, with pictures that fill the whole page and text that re-tells the story. Anyway, the first act actually ends with "Under the Sea", and Ursula turned into Vanessa before "Kiss the Girl" (which would be "Poor Unfortunate Souls - Reprise" in the Broadway show). So I'm just saying there could be a connection, and it can be done.

But I'd prefer the first act to end with "Souls" and have "Souls - Reprise" after "Kiss".

Yeah, I guess - but having seen both Disney Musicals and Disney Ice Shows myself, I've seen that they work very differently. Disney on Ice seems to be very commercial, like a travelling theme park complete with the oversized character heads. Disney Musicals have a much more sophisticated feel to them, and so what may work on the ice in a stadium full of screaming children, may not work on a stage in a theatre.

Just picture it this way: Have you seen Beauty and the Beast's Musical? Imagine that Be Our Guest is being performed in front of you, the atmosphere builds, music gets faster, set pieces are lighting up, dancers form a kickline, there's flashing lights, pyrotechnics and a big finish. Then, the curtain comes down and the audience are left sat there for the intermission, everything suddenly silent. It would feel like a power-failure in a college party!
I don't think "Under the Sea" would make a good end for Act I, even if they actually use it for that in the end, the first act should end on a song that is important to the story, and should set the scene for Act II, "Under the Sea" is really just an upbeat crowd-pleaser. (I have to admit that I love it though) I'm intrigued to see how this number will be staged, and I'm looking forward to a "making of" book about the show being released. (As you can probably tell, I love theatre!)

No, read the top part again.

It's just not on that list since it was already in the movie and relatively unchanged for stage.

Anyhow, they also posted the full ensemble/cast listing online, you can see it here. My friend's cousin in the ensemble, he just found out, so I think that's pretty cool!

Hey guys... I'm back! hope you all enjoy the Little Mermaid Score that I posted up...

Thanks for supporting the Blog, and I really hope that you all like the new layout!

Anyway, I just have a few things that I would really appreciate that you do if you are going to quote the blog, put up links, ect.

I don't mind you quoting a whole post, go ahead, i really don't mind, but could you perhaps put a link back to the specific 'post page' (ie. for the workshop demo; http://littlemermaidbroadway.blogspot.c ... score.html)... I know it may seem a total nuscience... but i often go back and edit the posts (like i have done for the Workshop one), and readers of the thread may not realise this.

Also, the ^ above post links directly to the 4shared site.... could you please, in future try to avoid doing this. I know you guys aren't stealing my info or anything, but there are people out there who will post this stuff up claiming to have found it themselves, which isn't really fair on me! Instead just post up the post page (like the above link) as usually the link to the file is easy to find! ... also i may have an explanation, intro, instructions, passwords ect. for the file which you are missing out on...

I hope that didn't come across as rude...

I would really appreciate this!

Thanks littlemermaidbroadway, I do love the new layout more than the old one!

By the way guys, that score has all the music for the new songs...so that should really be hush hush, and kept a secret...I think it should have merely been hinted that it was on the blog. In fact, the source who provided the score said "don't tell anyone"! I think having it available online is fine, but it should not be known by too many people.

If some people who can play instruments well get ahold of the score and make recordings of their own...let's just say some bad things could happen.

Tsom, it would be a good idea to remove the link and just tell everyone to check out the blog for the score.
