Dont' forget that the Sleeping Beauty DVD is a Special Edition, not the Platinum Edition, and that the Platinum will be released in the next couple of years. Might be worth holding out if you can't find a relatively cheap edition.

Ohh thanks!

I have a question..
I have a lot of the platinum editions, yet on the sides of the cases it says Special Edition..
Why? Can you please explain that to me?

Yeah, I'm actually embarassed to admit that I didn't know this until a couple weeks ago. I had the DVD preordered for the lithographs though so I already own the special edition. This is posted on the Types of Disney DVDs page of this site On May 1, 2003, Disney announced they would be adding Pinocchio, Fantasia, Peter Pan, and Sleeping Beauty to the Platinum Collection for a total of 14 titles.

So, we'll be getting a release of this eventually, and I'd expect the'd release all the platinums for the first time before they start re-releasing the ones that have already been out, so since we're getting 101 Dalmatians next February, in October we'll either see Pinocchio, Fantasia or Sleeping Beauty, and the other two will most likely be released in 2009.

It may seem like a long time to wait, but consider that you'll probably want the platinum edition when it comes out, and by that time it will surely be released alongside its blu-ray platinum edition companion.

Sleeping Beauty was released as a 2-Disc set called a "Special Edition". This was done because sleeping beauty wasn't originally part of the original 10 movies in the Platinum line.

If you look at the spine of the movie, it looks like a platinum because it has the words "Special Edition" written on it like the platinums do. On the front of the case at the top where the words "Platinum Edition" should be, there is just a yellow bar that says "2-Disc Set".

Check out the great write up this website has at this link http://www.ultimatedisney.com/releasetypes.htm

It talks about the different release types, and you'll see Sleeping Beauty under the Special Editions, not the Platinum. I can understand why people are confused about it though, I thought it was a platinum at first too!

So back to my point that this movie will almost certainly be released by the end of 2009 as a Platinum, and since it already has a 2-disc set, I would expect that alot of the bonus features will be carried over from there. So, if you think you'll want the platinum edition, it might be a better idea not to spend the money on the special edition now.

And one more question...How do you make a picture show where your name is..I cant figure that out.

Nope, Pocahontas hasn't been announced as a platinum. Right now just the 14 titles listed on that page I linked in my previous post.

Ugh, Pocahontas is a GREAT movie..to me anyway.

Oh okay, thanks for telling me.
I'm still kind of new here.

Do you know why they didn't put Pocahontas in the Platinum Editions?
