I can't talk. I just spent almost $11 buying the "professional" versions of some of my favorite performances. I even went as far as to make it an even twelve to make it standard CD length and I can't wait to blast it in my car tomorrow morning. lol.And yes, I'm way too invested in this TV show.![]()

Something else that we are all forgetting - now that we have the Top 10, they all are going on tour this summer with the American Idol 2007 Tour, and they get paid approximately $5,000 per show while on the tour. So Sanjaya will get the exposure he wants, and probably the love from all those 'tween and teenyboppers, as will all of the others who get cut from here on. Chris Sligh is the first one to have to sit around till the end of the season and the new tour.
So Sanjaya, after he ruins a Tony Bennett song, should be the next to go, and then he can work on his image for a few weeks before the tour starts. One thing for sure is that those cut from now on will still get a chance to be seen by thousands, and make some pretty good money while doing it. Figure it out - 39 shows at approximately $5,000 a show for each of them is a pretty good chunk of change.
I am DVRing the show each week now, so I can speed through those contestants who botch things up - like Sanjaya Malakar and Chris Richardson, who forgot the words to his song Tuesday night - again!!!! He covers it up well, but those who know their music will know that words are forgotten many times, by even some of the better artists.
And how about a big heads up for Gwen Stefani and Akon. What a great performance in last night's results show. Gwen is the premier artist of the coming years and she has a bright future ahead of her.

No offense taken here either goofystitch. I also agree with Aaron. I don't understand why people hate Sanjaya either. While I do think he's a pretty good singer overall, for me it's his personality and charm that shines through. He always looks like he's having so much fun while performing. and he doesn't care what other people think. I like that. It's refreshing.AwallaceUNC wrote:No offense taken. I can definitely understand why a lot of people wouldn't like Sanjaya. He's clearly not the best singer in the competition. I also think that he's clearly not the worst, though, so what I can't understand is the intensity of people's dislike for him (people in the general sense, not referring to the people here per se). I don't think Sanjaya should win, but I do think he should go a lot further. As has already been said, it's all a matter of preference, but it is frustrating to see so much criticism leveled at him, at least some of which I consider to be unfair.goofystitch wrote:No offense intended to the two forum members actively rooting for Sanjaya, but I don't see what you see.

IT'S OFFICIAL!!!! HELL HATH FROZEN OVER!!
Tonight I became a Sanjaya Malakar fan. I must be sick or something, but I really liked his performance and I am afraid that the two weakest performances on tonight's show were Phil Stacey for the guys, and Gina Glocksen for the ladies. Look out world, it is getting pretty cold down below, and America may have a new candidate for American Idol 2007. WOW!!! Did I just say that???

Simon's critique of Sanjaya was priceless. "Incredible." I like how none of the judges gave him any real imput. I thought this was one of his worst performances. His voice bores me so much and he went really flat right after dancing with Paula.
I was overall very dissapointed with tonight's show. The only one who I thought was perfect was Melinda. Even Blake, who is my second favorite, was not exceptional tonight. Gina should stick with edgier songs, although I think that was probably tough given the song opportunities.
The person who blew me away tonight was Haley. I don't know. I really like that edge to her voice mixed with her sweetness. And she is so flirtatious with the camera. I didn't think of it as a pagent performance until after the judges said somehting. I can see the comparison, but I thought it was pretty different. Most people can't pull off getting off the stage (Sanjaya keeps doing and I keep thinking "why are you doing this? You are creeping me out."), but she makes it so entertaining. I would be sad if she is the one to leave tomorrow, but I fear she will since she seems to have the least support of the remaining contestants.
...Shame, dvdjunkie, shame!

Anyway personally I think Sanjaya and Haley were the worst this week. I hope Sanjaya goes, but he is safe. I have a strange feeling that he may just end up winning this thing, or at least get 2nd or 3rd. Personally I think its getting ridiculous.
Simon's comments tonight were odd. Lets comment on Haley's legs. Yes I was looking too Simon, but this is a singing competition, or at least its supposed to be. Same thing for Sanjaya. I don't like him either, but the comments he has gotten the last two weeks is like, "GO HOME NOW". Its a little rude, even coming from Simon.
From what I've seen online, if the sites are correct, this week could be a shocker. Someone that shouldn't be going home this early might be leaving, although I think it will end up being Haley that will leave. I have a feeling the bottom 3 will be interesting.
I havent really watch American Idol that much this season...but man..I want that Sanjaya kid just LEAVE!! And then Gues what my sister said...
Sister: "Sanjaya kinda looks like Mowgli from the Jungle Book"
Myself: *SCOFF* *SCOFF* *GASP* *GASP* DON'T EVER INSULT ONE OF MY FAVORITE DISNEY CHARACTERS AGAIN!!
Anyways...my mom and sister totally burst my bubbles tonight...
Myself: "Wow I kinda like that Haylie Scarnato chick.."
Mom: "Son...I think you were looking at her legs and not paying attention to her voice."
*Sister is laughing her ass off*
Anyways wow has anyone heard about that girl thats on a hunger strike if Sanjaya stays? Poor girl...I have the feeling some evil people are voting for him because they want her to die...MAN I HOPE HE'S GONE TOMORROW THE GIRL NEEDS TO EAT!!

Haley was actually enjoyable to watch last night. Good performance overall, I think.
The best performance was Lakisha. Outstanding!
The worst was Phil. Honestly - why is this guy still here? He scares me, he looks like a vampire....
The most overrated was Chris. The judges seriously must be on drugs or something if they think that that was his best performance ever.
The most boring was Blake - I don't know - this guy just doesn't excite me anymore. Plus he is sooooo short!
Hopefully, Phil will be sent home tonight.
Sanjaya sucks so much. And I am loving every minute of it!! All hail the next American Idol: SANJAYA!!

I loved having Tony Bennett there (and that he gave mad props to Sanjaya). I'm still kicking myself over the fact that Tony was in concert here for free last year and I didn't know about it until the day after. As the judges kind of hinted at, it was the band's night. The music was great... the vocals, not so much. There were a few outstanding performances, though.
Gina - rough night, but then she was expected to struggle in this category. I thought she did okay, but it wasn't memorable.
Haley - one of her better vocals, but she's not good enough for this show. She looked perhaps her best, though.
Phil - He was okay last night, but I'm quickly growing tired of him. He's so hit and miss and doesn't at all excite me anymore. I'm ready for Phil and Haley to go home.
Jordin - She's really been holding her own the past couple of weeks and that continued last night. She still doesn't stand out as a potential winner at this stage, though.
Melinda - Brought down the house. Probably her best performance thus far. Amazing.
LaKisha - Even more amazing than Melinda. I hate that she's being forgotten about in the midst of all this Melinda Mania. Lakisha brought diva back last night; it was her best since "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going"
Blake - I like him, but last night was really off. He put on a good show with the dancing and all, but he sounded too high-pitched -- almost nasal. It was his worst vocal so far, but he probably has nothing to worry about.
Chris - This was a comeback night for him. He's done really well all along in my book and I agree with the judges that this was at least one of his better nights.
Sanjaya - Actually not my favorite performance from Sanjaya. He is finally past the whispering stage (I was worried that the jazz theme would bring that out in him again), but he moved around too much and the look was a little weird. Still, he did a pretty good job and showed that he can sing, and I look forward to what he'll bring in next week. At least Tony Bennett recognizes talent. The judges were completely rude to Sanjaya, per the usual. I'm very happy that dvdjunkie kept an open mind and saw the talent that I've seen in Sanjaya.
Like last week, my votes went to Chris, LaKisha, and Sanjaya (from least to most).

This is not and WAS NOT a late April Fool's joke. I actually think Hell Froze Over last night, because I watched American Idol and someone other than Sanjaya made me want to puke.
Tony Bennett is a great mentor for most of these talented singers, and those that listened sounded pretty good.
Weak spots for the night were Phil Stacey and Gina Glocksen. Although I think tonight it could be either Phil or Haley that get the boot.
But, no fooling, I was pretty knocked out by Sanjaya's performance. I just closed my eyes and listened, and he does have a pretty good voice, and I agree that his entertainment value has been widely overlooked, not just by me, but by quite a few other people.
Strongest performances of the evening belonged to LaKisha, Melinda, Chris Richardson, and Blake Lewis.

I actually liked Haley's performance, It was good. It's annoying that she doesn't stick up for herself and tell the judges to stop telling her "she's a pretty girl, nice legs, nice dress" instead of giving her constructive criticism, it is so patronizing. Paula is such a bitch to her, and for Paula to be like that is saying a lot.
Chris, Sanjaya, Gina, Haley, Blake and Phil are not going to win.
Melinda, Lakisha, and Jordin are the obviously the favorites to win.
Melinda seems like a sure thing, but she skews a little too old, even though she is only 29 years old. She seems like 40 to me, and the American public isn't gonna let another Taylor Hicks win (but then again Sanjaya and Haley are still in this competition and Stephanie Edwards isn't). Unfortunately the no neck thing is a negative as well, it doesn't bother me though, I think she's cute. I would be happy for her if she won.
Lakisha is great but she doesn't look or act (too insecure) like an American Idol (compare to Carrie, Kelly, and Fantasia, and you'll get my point). America is obsessed with beauty, and she just looks too average to win. Great singer though, but plenty of people can sing, you need the whole package. I would be disappointed if she won.
Jordin however has the total package, she's a great singer, is young (perfect in a youth obsessed culture), pretty, and performs well. She got a girl next door vibe to her and America laps that up. She's my pick to win American Idol: Season 6.
Disclaimer: The opinions on this post are my own and in no way indicative of anything, so don't attack me, thanks!

Phil, Haley, and Gina were the bottom three.
Haley and Gina were the bottom two. Simon was "not surprised."
Gina was sent home. I don't think she had it in to win, but I definitely am wondering how certain people are still there while she got sent home.
Anyone know the celebrity coach for next week?

numba1 is right. The contestants were divided into 3s tonight, according to the number of votes they received.
Top 3
LaKisha
Melinda
Jordin
Middle 3
Sanjaya
Chris
Blake
Bottom 3
Phil
Haley
Gina
I was happy with the Bottom 3, but Gina was clearly the best of them and should not have gone home. Either Phil or Haley really need to leave next week.
I was sad that Tony Bennett was unable to sing tonight, though Michael Bublé was a cool replacement (even if the performance wasn't one of his best and he made that weird joke at the end).
