Lady and the Tramp 2

Is this DVD worth getting? I really loved this movie (it's one of the better DTV's), but I want to know if it's worth it. The only reason I'm really getting it is because of the film and the Making Of... segment.

Don't tell me "If you bought it on VHS, you can buy it on DVD", because I'm not looking for that.

Are the extras on this DVD (I"m not expecting much) really worth it?

It's the only ( ? ) animated DTV with a commentary track, which is very informative. It shows that while the animators may have been handed lemons (regarding budget and the sequel concept) they were determined to make lemonade. The Making of is okay from what I remember but doesn't go into enough detail, like these things often don't. Together the making of and commentary probably explain the DTV creation process more than any other release. I think Lady and the Tramp II was Disney's first attempt to push for higher quality on the DTV's and this DVD obviously reflects some aspects of this.

The rest of the supplements are so-so. There's 3 Pluto cartoons, which are rumoured to be on the 2004 Complete Pluto Treasures release (so probably not worth getting this disc just for them) and a set top game that is next to useless.

As a HUGE fan of the original I forced myself to purchase this one way back when. It's not all that bad, as far as these DTV sequels go. But IIRC, don't make a decision based on extras because there are not a lot here (aside from what 2099 posted above).

Definitely not in the same league as Simba's Pride, but an okay effort.

Lady And The Tramp II was a great film. I always loved the 1st one and I was anxiously waiting for a sequel. I wish that they could re-release Lady and The Tramp. And do a box set that includes Lady And The Tramp II and Lady and the Tramp but I dought that will happen.

Okay, so I'm defintely getting this. PLus Dinotopia. I think I'll get Sleeping Beauty, since it's going into the vault, and wait a little while for Alice.

Lady and the Tramp is worth buying on DVD.
It's a great Disney sequel like 101 Dalmatians 2 and Jungle Book 2.
It's very great and better then the original.

I wouldn't say those are better then the originals. I think they were good but not better.

I totally agree. Having actually listened to the commentary (something I cherish on a DVD, but very rarely listen to ), it is clear that everyone involved (including those at Disney, Sydney) worked really hard on something for only a fraction of the cost. The result is quite possibly the best DTV feature on the market, and makes you wonder what the animators in Sydney could do with a decent budget.

This is just my opinion on the film, but I think it is one of the better DTV films Disney has ever done. The obvious "role reversal" scenario gets a good workout here, but works brilliantly within the confines of the story. The voice cast is perfect, and perhaps the only complaint I could make is that some of the songs kinda grate on one's nerves. But you could say that about any Disney musical.

And as 2099net points out, if you actually want a better understanding of how a DTV is put together, this is a great DVD for that. It is something for people who always slag the animators on DTVs to pay attention to.

Highly recommened, both as a DTV and a film/DVD generally.

I purchased Lady and the Tramp 2 a while back; even before it was announced it was going into the vault. I saw it on the Disney Channel about a month ago I believe and found it okay. Of course, the DVD is always different because of the added features. I haven't even opened the disc yet...I guess I am waiting for that first child!

This is a great movie. It is not as good as the 1st but it is an excellenct Hollywood Classic.

This is one of the DTV sequels that I can't stand. It's mainley because of bad voice casting. Jodie Benson (Ariel from "The Little Mermaid") plays Lady and really tries to sound like her, but fails. Disney always seems to have problems finding actors who sound like the original voice, and I never understand it because I know there has to be someone out there who can do it. My dad does a great Captain Hook. He can sound just like him, but in "Return to Neverland," certain lines don't even sound like Hook. The voice of Phil and Lil' from "Rugrats" plays one of Lady's daughters, giving the film a dumbed down feel. And I will never understand why Disney cast Scott Wold, a grown man, as Scamp, the puppy. Alisa Milano sounds beliveable as Angel, but Scott Wolf's Scamp voice gets on my nerves. I also can't stand the songs. They remind me of something I expect to hear on Playhouse Disney. Many of the words don't rhyme or make sense.

I know that Disney mainley makes these films for kids, but they should realize that a lot of people who grew up with these films are going to want to see them. They should have kept this in mind when making "Lady and the Tramp 2: Scamp's Adventure."

Actually, Disney first refused to let Jodi Benson play the voice, because they didn't think she could be good enough. Only later, when she sent in an anonymous audition via a friend did they realize how much she sounded like Barbara Luddy.
And she does a much better job than Jeff Bennet as Tramp.
