Sometimes I edit my own posts. Why does there have to be a little notice of how many total of edits there have to be? Why does it have to be there? Can it be removed?

Unless you edit your post before anyone else makes a post, the messages shows up automatically. It can't be removed, sadly. But it holds people accountable if they try to change their words, I guess.

Because they're annoying and distracting, that's why. Plus, why do we need to know the edits anyway?

Well, suppose you first post "I love Disney!" and I respond by saying "I agree with you 100%!". Then, you edit your post, saying "People who love Disney are all pedophiles!". How would that make me look? The message is there just for that.

It's simple: if you flame someone, post nudity or do anything that's considered inappropriate here at UD, there will obviously be consequences. So, if one of the normal posters were to point out something forbidden that you wrote and you were to edit your post before anyone else saw it, how else would the moderators be able to prove you guilty of the crime you supposedly committed?

Those messages are also useful for when you play games. If I answered a question wrong and you posted the correct answer right after me, I could always just edit my post and get the point instead of you (if no one else saw it).

So, yeah, the edit messages are more useful than you think.

Well, the only "crime" I committed here was simply stealing someone else's DVD idea, unintentionally, of course. Besides, it seems like a majority don't edit their posts as often as I do. People seem to be satisfied with their posts, but I'm not always like that. What should I do about my proposed posts to keep edits to a minimum?

I have edited one post 47 times(my unreleased on DVD want list). Glad I can edit it.

BigDisneyFan - I really dont see what the big deal is. I dont find it distracting at all. Especially for those of us that cant sbell.

Well, I do find it distracting. Whenever I edit a post, it makes me nervous. Besides, I may be satisfied with something one hour and then not be satisfied with it the next. What's your excuse there? Hmm?
