can anyone help me?? with this vivid memory?

Post by cateyes221981 »

OK while growing up I have always had certain disney specials or shows STICK in my head and i never got them out! I dont know if anyone else feels this way or has the same experience but while grownig up as a child I remember seeing certian shows or disney specials that would have such a HUGE emotional effect on me and I would have these shows "Taped" and watch them over and over and over and over and treat these tapes like gold. Sadly I have lost all them growing up but the curiousity still remains!
I just have faint memories of these shows or specials that brought me so much joy as a child I just want to try and find some truth about them?

ALl these specials seem to take bits and pieces out of various animated movies, Like for example they would take a clip of a movie show that and then go back to the host talking
Often they would play great songs also in these special shows while showing clips of differant animated disney films
Songs that I remember being played were "sweet dreams" "I only have eyes for you" "staying alive" etc..

Ok I will try and describe 2 of the shows that STUCK deep into my mind that I will probably NEVer forget even when im 90 years old!

One of them was a friday the 13th special! IT started off with donald duck I think riding a bike? It played STEVIE wonder songs and sweet dreams in it
Another special was some sort of award special that was given to goofy? I Remember THey had a segment on BIG cats Played the staying alive song while showing MANy differant animated big cats and also showed various clips of aristocats part of this show also featured the lady and tthe tramp clip with the 2 siamese cats!

God Nothing made my heart beat as much as these shows and if someone could help me find the truth about them like what they were how many there were etc... THat would be great! Thanks so much for your help guys

I sometimes feel like this when I watch some old taped off TV VHS with certain commercials and movies on them. I could watch thse tapes over and oer again, and if these comericals and all the other extra stuff wouldn't be on it, I'd certainly miss something.
But I'm sorry that I can't help you with the show you mean
And Welcome to the forums, catseyes!! :pink:

I think you mean vague memory. if it was vivid you would remember it like it was yesterday.

That sounds like D-TV. D-TV was a series of music videos where Disney edited various clips to well-known songs (much like what fans do nowadays on YouTube). Sometimes D-TV segments stood alone to fill in space between shows and sometimes they were strung together by a certain theme to form a special. Here's some D-TV videos that people uploaded on YouTube:

No, Disney stopped making them in the early 90s, a bit before the channel went to hell in the mid-90s (aka when the channel went to basic cable instead of premium). From what I've gathered, these were the D-TV specials produced:

Disney's DTV Valentine (1986)
Disney's DTV Doggone Valentine (1987)
Disney's DTV Monster Hits (1987)
DTV2: The Special (1989)

I believe a couple of these were released to VHS, but I'm not sure.
