bestbuy and suncoast are some of the best places. for instance, at suncoast i saw bambi II and the lion king 2(OOP) both with slipcovers! and bestbuy always has a large stock of disney dvds with slipcovers, so there's a good chance at finding one :) i just recently bought my cinderella dvd with it's slipcover at bestbuy last month!!!, i got lucky because out of all the 15 copies on the shelf, only 1 had a slipcover

Around my neck of the woods...No stores sell them with slip covers. Except for the stores that sale Cinderella for like 29.99. All those ones have slip covers. Me since Im a slip cover lover, and I didnt feel like spending extra money. I bought Cinderella online, for like $21.00. And it came in great condition.

Slipcovers are not that big of a deal for me. I just want the dvd for the movie and not how the slipcover looks like, unless you plan to sell it some day.

I wonder if Disney knows just how popular their slipcovers are- there are some people looking for copies of a movie, for example, and will only buy a copy if there is a slipcover. I've been selling my slipcovers (I only make maybe 60 cents profit, since the rest goes to shipping, but still)...Many people (like me, Escapay, dvdjunkie, etc.) don't care about the slipcovers. I wonder if Disney would ever, when a movie initially comes out on DVD, put slipcovers on only some of the movies and charge extra for the copies with slipcovers. That way, those of us who don't care wouldn't have to complain about them, and the people who really want them could have them, and Disney would make extra money. A non-slipcovered DVD could cost $19.95, for example, while a slipcovered copy could cost $21.95.

Why do they actually make slipcovers? Is it to protect the DVD, or so they are able to plaster stickers all over it, and not upset fans by putting it all over the actual cover?

They put slipcovers on movies to make them more appealing. What do you notice first? A bling bling copy of Peter Pan with a slipcover or a standard copy of Treasure Planet when you are browsing the family movies isle?
I'm currently watching and reviewing every Disney film in chronological order. You can follow along at my blog, The Disney Films, and also follow me on Twitter.

You can find them with slipcovers back in 2005. Thankfully, they're all gone.

I would say to look very hard. Chances are you are bound to come across a slipcover dvd sooner or later.

Almost everywhere I go I see Toy Story 2 with a slipcover. I say Toy Story with a slipcover at Sears and Blockbuster, and I saw Pocahontas with one at Blockbuster.
