According to a French site, The Pixar Room, Disney has set June 6 as the release date for a 2 Disc Collector's Edition of Cars on Standard Def DVD in France. No word on when it'll make it's way to North America, but I'm predicting sometime around then. I'm predicting that the date will be either June 5 or 12, but I've already heard that the Blu-ray (which was confirmed as a 2 disc set by the all knowing Digital Bits a few weeks back) is on it's way on June 5, so I think it'll be day and date with the Blu-ray. I'm hoping I'll have a Blu-ray player by then but if not, it's good to see that Disney is finally giving Cars the treatment it deserves. Here's a link to the original article, but warning, it's in French which I can't read that much but from what I know it says 2 discs and June 6 (also, warning the cover art looks terrible, but hopefully they fix it for R1):

This will probably be the one of the first DVDs I'll ever double dip on (hopefully Ratatouille just gets a 2 disc in the fall and not one of these again).
2 Disc Cars Coming (to France) in June!

It most certainly would. This is my second favorite Pixar film and it is bogus that it is the only one without a 2-disc set. Thanks for letting us know, Buzz Lightyear.
I'm currently watching and reviewing every Disney film in chronological order. You can follow along at my blog, The Disney Films, and also follow me on Twitter.
According to the thread in the International Forum

This release has some French specific extras, so it doesn't automatically mean the US will be getting a 2 disc set.

I was out shopping today and came home with a Cars 2-disc collector's edition in tin box that opens like a book....
I have NO idea where the heck it came from, nor have I ever read or seen about this. I can confirm it's 100% real.
any idea where this comes from? It's not french. It's all in english. did it drop from heaven? the tin box is gorgeous.

If something about this has been posted elsewhere already, please point me, anyway these are the Bonus Features of disc 2:
Rascal Flatts "Life Is A Highway" Music Video
Making of "Life Is A Highway" Music Video
Making of the Music
Life Size McQueen and Sally
Meet Pixar's Gear Heads
Talkin' Cars
Cars Alter Egos
Dinner At The Big Texan
Day In The Life Of A Producer
Hot Laps In Sonoma
Worldwide Cars
[update]
okay I just found out this dvd was released in the US as a Walmart exclusive. Wich had a bonus disc containing at least some (probaply all) of the extras also found on this AU edition. Though the extras are fun and there's no logical explanation why they couldn't have been included on the standard dvd, it's nothing special. Still, it's a better set than the lame 1-disc.
