What is with the attacks

Post by memnv »

We have been attacked by at least 3 different people advertising porn since last night. Luke if you need help with this stuff or a new moderator to delete it, I am on at different times than a lot of people, I volunteer to do it.

Luke,

While I can make the same kind of offer. While I have no interest in moderating member behavior, if you wanted to make me a moderator so I could take out the spam(or possibly only you do that and others only have locking power).

Regards,

Sean

I won't say it was a nasty attack, but it was awkward how the posts were appended to a number of existing threads. I managed to clean the site down (one attack was being performed as I was clearing it) before I had to start work.

The nature of moderation means nobody can be looking at the site 100%, especially as we all have lives independent of UltimateDisney of our own.

I managed to sneak some time to login and began cleaning up an attack, but Luke was already on the case (I think we deleted some threads almost simultaniously).

Based on the posting history of the individuals, especially when I was deleting the posts as and when they came in, I'm convinced it was an automated procedure. The post count of each was the same, and the number of new threads vs additions to existing threads was the same (as far as I could see).
