I lucked out, when I was younger (around 12yrs old) I had 4 molars pulled out due to a need for braces. Well, when I turned 18 and my wisdom teeth came in, they grew in perfectly straight with no pain. They did not have to pull them out since there was room due to the ones that got extracted when I was 12. Now, for THOSE that pain was horrible!! As a child I was a mess....that was the most pain I had been in my life (besides natural childbirth of course).

I'm 32 years old and I've still got 32 teeth - so I haven't had "the pleasure" - hope it stays that way.

I don't even want to think about this. I absolutely positively loathe the dentist. Yeah, not hate, but loathe. Whenever I go in there I feel that I would rather go and stick my hand in a fire or drown myself. I seriously do not like the dentist at all. This one time I had to get sealents for my back teeth, and let me tell ya, the lady tried to choke me with a cotton ball. This really happened. Tears literaly flew from my face it was complete madness. I cannot stand the dentist and I don't even want to think about the day that my wisdom teeth come in. What is the point for them anyway? This is why I don't even have braces, and I'm 15. I think that I would like to keep all of my teeth in, except for the ones that naturally fall out so that I wouldn't have to go through pain. I've gotten over the cleaning process but when they take the x-rays for your teeth, I cringe. I want to smack the lady, really. I want to go and beat her head into the ground. I want to see it explode so that she will not torture kids with her x-ray kid-killing hands of a dentist-lady-person
. Well, enough about that let's get back on subject. I don't like wisdom teeth. Wisdom teeth are really gross, wisdom teeth I hate the most.

Omg.. When I had mine taken out, that was a sad, sad time
I've only had mine out since fall 2005. It was the first time I've ever been anestheticized (or however you spell it) and the whole procedure felt like 2 minutes (very strange). And then when it was all over, I was in such a haze, and I had gaws in my mouth for a long time. I actually tried talking with the gaws for a while until my brother finally told me to shutup
because all I was saying was like "wah-wah-wah"

I had my wisdom teeth removed as they were just begining to form. They hadn't even touched the jaw yet. I had them surgically removed (by doctors, not dentists). It really wasn't that bad. The worst part of the whole thing was when they put me to sleep. I had the IV hooked up and they injected this yellow liquid and I could feel it burning through my veins. It rocketed up my arm extremely fast and I felt it in my neck and then I felt it go to my head and I was out. They told me I wouldn't remember anything, but I actually remember coming into consciousness a few times and having someone say "keep your mouth open." When it was over, they stitched up my gums and sent me home. I had gauze in my mouth for the rest of the day, but beyond that I didn't need them. It was the last week of summer before my senior year of high school and I was on Vikadin the whole time, a lovely experience. I would sleep, watch Disney movies, and drink milkshakes. The really funny thing is that the day they were removed, my mouth was so numb that I couldn't feel a difference between the gauze and my tounge. I chew in my sleep and I was chewing on my tongue thinking it was the gauze. Boy did that hurt when the novacane wore off... probably more than the tooth removal. lol. I highly reccomend having them surgecally removed. My brother had the dentist do it and he was miserable.

My experience was not really fun. My wisdom teeth were sideways under the gums so they had to take them out surgically.
When I woke up I was laying down in the recover area, shaking really badly and crying. It was a reaction from how the anesthesia felt to me(or whatever). But the nurse guy was not nice. He acted annoyed that I was upset and shaking but I couldn't help it. So he went to get my boyfriend and told him that I was really "whiny" or something equivelant. But once my boyfriend came in I was able to relax.
I ate only soup and yogurt for a week and threw-up a lot from the penicillin. But I got extra skinny that week!!

I'm NEARLY 32 and am in the same way. Except, almost all of my teeth have been filled, because I was never a flosser. Still am not good about that. The only teeth I have that are unfilled or my front ones, canines and inbetween, top and bottom. Of course, by now they probably need it too. I did have to have two root canals done too. I had all that work done in college, when I took a trip to the dentist because I could sense one of the cavities. Never had any pain from them though (just from the dental work, ha). If I ever have the money, I will probably have them all capped like Hilary Duff, ha.Lars Vermundsberget wrote:I'm 32 years old and I've still got 32 teeth - so I haven't had "the pleasure" - hope it stays that way.

you know, when i had my teeth removied i talked to my mom and she said that it's better to get it done young. she said that just because your teeth dont hurt doesnt mean they're fine. in fact, most people's (mine included) are impacted and they STILL need to be removed. my mom had hers out in her 20s and she said that i recovered like 4 days sooner than she did. so you guys might want to talk to your dentist or go see the oral surgeon.slave2moonlight wrote:I'm NEARLY 32 and am in the same way. I'm lucky that I don't have any problems with my wisdom teeth. Although, the past 2 years when my mother took me and my sister to the dentist for cavity check-up. Luckly, I have few cavities which it isn't that bad. However, my sister has alot of cavities. Ouch! It took her 3 or 4 dentists appointments to get her's out.
I hope in the next few years I won't have that such of a problem with my wisdom teeth. Until then, I'm good to go.

i got mine taken out about 12 years ago now. i dont remember much though, the anaesthesia kept me groggy for a good 24 hours after the "surgery". After that it was ok, it didnt hurt. I got to eat nothing but ice cream and soup for about a week. I remember I also had school pictures that week. my chin and cheeks were so swollen, when you see my grade 10 picture you'd swear I was a young version of Jay Leno!

26 here and I still have mine.
When they first started to come in (before they broke though the gums) my dentist wanted me to have them removed. I didn't have them removed then, and they came in pretty good. After they started to come in I went and got a second opinion to see if they really needed to be removed since they looked ok to me. I was told by that dentist that as long as they didn't bother me (hurt, get cavities, etc...) that she didn't see any reason why I wouldn't be able to keep them.
So far so good... I had two teeth removed on the top when I had braces (I think I was 13 at the time) so maybe it helped with the crowding.

well right now for me is that i can barely get my stupid retainers in without feeling pain. i threw up on the kitchen rugs on day of appointment after we ran out of gauzes so i had to use GIANT
TEA BAGS. they were so big i could barely get the second one in my swollen mouth. i had a hard time sleeping that night since i was sleeping on the couch.
my dad had his removed in his 30's while my sister still has two since those were there when she got the other two out. now she has to go get them out. for those who hate the dentist don't worry their gentle with this stuff, at least mine is since i didn't feel anything thanks to the laughing gas making me so sleepy.
you know i have a funny story about a friend of mine who went to get hers out. she went to get them out and they put the laughing gas on her and she heard the word needle and FAINTED
. she hates needles by the way. also one of my teachers had a memeroble one. he went in for SEVEN hours because one of them had shattered into a million pieces and he's in his early twenties and my english got hers out last year and shes probably in her late thirties, early fourties.
btw i couldn't keep a straight face with all your stories and my cheeks started hurting which i shouldn't be doing
.
