"American Idol 2007" Discussion Thread

Well, it is week number two and the guys started it off really well. Wichita's own Phil Stacey opened the show, and Sundance Head was the last contestant to show his stuff. The guys were a ton better than last week, but still managed to not impress all the judges. Look for Sanjaya and, maybe, Brandon to be the ones voted off this week, on Thursday night. Tonight is the ladies and first up will Lakisha, let's see how far up she sets the bar.

After tonight's Results Show I am wondering if people know that it is the person with the least amount of votes that gets voted off. It really makes me wonder after tonight when three of the better singers got the axe.

For the girls: we lost Alaina and Leslie (expected) and For the guys: we lost A.J. and Nick (the Ray Sharkey look-a-like).

How in the hell did Sanjaya make it throught another week. This is so wrong. Leslie knew she was getting the axe, but Alaina had some pretty decent reviews from the judges and Antonella got called a 'donut' by Simon. Nick and A.J. were both pretty solid in their performances, Nick was probably the weaker of the two.

Oh well, it is down to the Top 16 and next week we cut four more to get our Top Twelve, and then it is game on.

I agree. Between AJ and Sanjaya, I have no idea how Sanjaya survived. I think he is incredibly horrible, and he creeps me out too. CUT YOUR HAIR AND SHAVE YOUR LIP, KID.

The girls who got cut were expected, but I was mildly surprised that Antonella made it again. As hot as she is, she isn't that great so far. She needs to calm down on stage.

Nick was also a bit of a mystery. There were worse guys than him, I think (Like the really tall black guy).

Alaina needed to go. However, she was so adorable when she sang. I wanted to reach out and hug her and was tearing up when the rest of the girls came onstage and gave her back-up.

According to DialIdol Sanjaya is one of the top guys as far as votes go. I really wished he had been voted off, but sadly I bet he will make the top 5 or 6.

I was not surprised in the least about Sanjaya. He will be this year's Kevin Covias or John Stevens. He will make the top 12. At least he can sing in tune - he just needs to be a little louder and use his voice to it's full potential. He reminds me of Michael Jackson in the way he sounds when he sings softly like that.

I was astonished that AJ got cut. I really liked him and was very upset about it.

I am glad Leslie is gone - I never liked her. Alaina deserved to go too.....there were others better than her and someone's got to go.

I really liked Antonella during the earlier rounds. I voted for her this week and next week, but more along the lines of hoping that she'll choose better songs. In my opinion, she NEEDS to sing an uptempo modern song (I know that she has been singing modern songs, but she's just been picking bad songs for her). Sanjaya was better in the earlier rounds, too. I gave him one vote on Tuesday night- he wasn't that great, but I think that he has potential. The only two girls I didn't like at all on Wednesday night were Haley and Alaina. I wish that Haley left and not Leslie- at first I didn't like her much, but I think that she did a good job on Wednesday. As for the boys, I voted for Brandon, Sanjaya, and Sundance (I gave only one vote for the latter 2). I voted for Mellinda, Antonella, and someone else, I think, but I don't remember who (maybe Lakisha?). I think that Mellinda should win the whole competition. That was one amazing performance.

i cant believe sanjaya is still in and PLEASE dont ever compare him to michael jackson.......micheal=legend and sanjaya=crapiest singer and freaky as hell looking......I AM NOT racist but i think that maybe all of the indian people are voting for him or rigging the phone lines cause someone of his ethnicity has not ever made it this far and theyre tryin to represent????? and did ANYONE see the hot n sexy pics of antonella barba???? that chick is so smokin hot!

those pics turned out not to be Antonella. It was a porn star that looked like her and some anonymous person posted them on the web saying it was Antonella. Sad what some people do just because they dont like her.

nnnnnoooooooooooooo.......the bj pics werent her they were a porn star look alike, but the sexy ones by the fountain, with the bball, with her friends, with the roses, all of those are obviously her, just not the really hard core oral sex ones, but the others are of her, but they are as i would say like soft core porn.....but they arent too too bad just pretty racy.....

I'm no mod, but this thread is getting innappropiate really fast, IMO. There's no reason I see for us to be discussing things of this nature.

1 - This show lost credibility when Taylor Hicks won.

The pics really are not that bad, but I can see where it might be inappropriate for an American Idol. Although other past Idols have done things.

Tonight was pretty rough. Honestly I wasn't impressed with anyone. This looks like it will be a girl year. I really hope Sanjaya finally leaves on Thrusday. So far I've been pretty bored with this whole season. I really hope it picks up soon.

I like Taylor Hicks. He was my favorite to win last year. I think whats hurting his sales is his album really isn't "mainstream". I'm glad he got to do his album like he did and they didn't force him to make "pop" songs like they did on Bo Bice's album. Bice's stuff before Idol was pretty good, but his Idol CD just didn't work. Taylor was the opposite. His pre-Idol stuff was pretty good and it sounds similar to his Idol album. Some of his old work even made it to his CD which I thought was nice.

I voted for Blake, Chris (not Sligh), and Brandon. My least favorites were Sanjaya, Jarod, and Phil. I think that Jarod was a hair better than Sanjaya and Phil...I wouldn't be surprised if those two went home. Sundance, in my opinion, wasn't at the top of his game, but he's very talented and seems really nice. I'm not a big Chris Sligh fan, but last week he did a great job- last night did not match up. I have a night class, so I'll miss most of A.I. tonight (I don't know how to work the VCR and my husband will be at work), but I'm sure that videos of tonight's performances will be on YouTube.

BlackCauldron, you need to join the rest of us in civilization and get either a TiVO or a DVR.........VHS recorders are not that hard to operate, but even a blind person can operate a DVR or TiVO.

With the fan base that Sanjaya has, we will probably see him around for a little while longer (I hope not, but let's face his heritage will bring everyone out to vote whether he is good or not). Chris Sligh was not as good as last week, but I think he was good enough to stay around for a while. I think our own favorite son, Phil Stacey will be gone, and unfortunately if it is not Sanjaya then it will be Brandon.

The girls need to do a lot better tonight, but I don't think that will be an issue. They have been on top of their game since week one. LaKisha and Doolittle should rock the house and set the bar pretty high.

other than his heritage sanjaya has nothing going for him....he is not an american idol or even a good singer....the guy he was up against last week should not have left cause he did have an awesome voice, aj or something. and about antonellas pic i agree that other idols have done worse, even gotten into drugs which i think is way worse than a few racy pics, after all she is very beautiful.

Sanjaya has made some weak song choices, but he has a lot of talent and charisma. He's one of the better singers in the competition - he's letting his nerves hold him back, though. I'm hoping he breaks out of that soon. He started to a little bit this week, but again, it was a weird song choice. The judges insist on focusing on his age and appearance in their criticisms, rather than his singing.

Jared, Sundance, and Brandon are the three worst singers in this competition. It's a shame that at least one of them has to stick around another week.
