Prince of Persia!!!

Post by Tk2 »

Hi guys, I didn't know that Disney had the rights to Prince of Persia and that the movie was in pre-production!!!

I'm sooooo happy that one of the most beautiful and original games ever is not only being made into a movie, but also by Disney!! Heaven! (unless they screw it up!)

I hope it's going to be as awesome and visually beautiful as the games. I hope it'll be a great action flick ala Pirates, but also with a great and unique story to back it up. If it's anything like the game, I can so see Art Direction, Costume, Makeup & Score Oscar nominations for this one!

YAYYY!!!! I'm so excited!!!! :D :D :D :D
Jerry Bruckheimer will be the producer! If it's like Pirates then I think I'm going to be obsessed with it! And the pictures look great!
Thanks for the info Tk2!

Sands of Time was one of the best, if not the best, games of its year. (2004 I think?) I'm only slightly worried that if they do go on and make the Warrior Within sequel, or even in Sands of Time, that it wont have enough violence or show the right amoung of gore, you know, with Disney's standards and stuff.

That's why I was kinda shock that Disney doing PoP movie. Especially the two squeals to Sands of Time(Sand of Time isn't the first game), since the gore is crazy in the older ones. but netherless i'm looking foward to this movie definently.

Well this is exciting!! I bought POP Sands of Time for Ps2 like in 03' but I never beat it...its a great game but I just can't get hooked to it...perhaps I will put it on my to do list. The story is pretty interesting. I hear the sequals are pretty gory and dark, they are rated M. Never played them since I didnt beat the first one.

Anyways that's pretty cool Disney is making it, hopefully it will be good. I wonder if they will make the sequels, that kind of annoyed me how the first POP was rated T and then the next ones were M. M games don't bother me, but they brought in a younger audience for the first one then suddenly switched to an older audience so the content wasnt proper for kids 13-16, thats not to say kids don't play those games anyway but still they arent recommended. I think they did that because when Sands of Time was first released it didnt sell to well but got excellent reviews, so they wanted to go a different route. Wonder if Disney does do the sequels will they keep it in that PG-13 range(Im taking a guess at the rating)

Here are very rough descriptions of the games from Amazon, they are far more detailed with lots of twists and characters. Great stories all together!

Possible Plot SPOILERS ahead

Sands of Time:
When a young prince discovers an ancient dagger, it leads to a great evil befalling his father's land. The only way to contain these dark powers is through the impossible feat of controlling the Sands Of Time. With no other choice, our hero aims to try. So begins a new adventure in the haunted, scorching sands of Persia.

the Warrior Within:
The Old Man said to the Prince, "Your fate has been written. You will die."
Enter the dark underworld of Prince of Persia 2, the sword-slashing sequel to the critically acclaimed Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.
Hunted by Dahaka, an immortal incarnation of Fate seeking divine retribution, the Prince embarks upon a path of both carnage and mystery to defy his preordained death. His journey leads to the infernal core of a cursed island stronghold harboring mankind's greatest fears.
Only through grim resolve, bitter defiance and the mastery of deadly new combat arts can the Prince rise to a new level of warriorship - and emerge from this ultimate trial with his life.

the Two Thrones:
Two Thrones picks up the incredible action and adventure of the series with an all-new chapter. The Prince has returned from his adventures with his love, Kaileena. Instead of the peace that he longs for, he finds his homeland ravaged by war and the kingdom turned against him. The Prince is captured and Kaileena has no choice but to sacrifice herself and unleash the Sands of Time to save him. Now a fugitive, the Prince discovers that past battles have given rise to a deadly Dark Prince, whose spirit gradually possesses him.

--

the coolest thing about the 3rd game is that the prince transforms into this beast-like version of himself with awesome burning chains embedded into his flesh which he uses as weapons. No way Disney can make a good PG movie with this concept without spoiling the action and violence!

I am kind of worried about this film. Most video-games-made-into-movies were never good. Look what happened to Super Mario Bros, Tomb Raider, Doom, Etc.

But PoP is more epic so it can be good.

There are some good ones like Mortal Kombat which was good adaption.

lol well the Super Mario movie was kind of lame yet hilariouse in all its cheesey glory. I am a big Tomb Raider fan, and well I know the first one isnt too good I give it a C-, Tomb Raider the Cradle of Life was a lot better B+, Doom was kind of bad yet very entertaining. And well the Mortal Kombat....loved the games...the movies were kind of a joke...and the sequel was just....I thought Final Fantasy the Spirits Within was just a CGI movie with the title Final Fantasy slapped on to it. Anyways I think any game that's generally a good franchise has the potential to become a good movie, because obvioulsy there good enough to make the silver screen. In which Mario, Tomb Raider, Doom, Final Fantasy, and Mortal Kombat are all good games. It just all matters on whose making them, and how well people can adapt them with a good script an stuff.

Prince of Persia could be the same and either turn out to be a hit or just another video game movie down the drain.

With the glut of fantasy films coming out these days, I'd also see a live-action Legend of Zelda, at least original NES version, as that's the only one I ever played.

Random Fact #2938459327: Although Ridley Scott's Legend did poorly in the United States, some consider it to be the inspiration for the video game, as it is slightly similar in character design and story.
