Tom Sawyer's Island: UPDATE

Post by DARTH KNITE »

Micechat and the OC register have both reported that changes to the island have been altered. At first it was reported that Tom Sawyer was going to be removed completely from Disneyland in order to bring forth Jack Sparrows Island. This has been changed. While some pirate themes will be incorporated into the attraction, they will be the pirates of Tom and Hucks adventures and will reportedly have a lair on the island guest can explore. I'm actually very happy about this, I thought the original plan was too extreme and I think is a good compromise. It also solves the problem some had with keeping the POTC in New Orleans. :D

I agree that the new plan is MUCH better, but I still kind of wish they would leave it alone. But it really isn't so bad. I voted that they shouldn't change it, but I guess I'm more of a so-so now.

That sounds like a much better compromise. For me, the issue was never one of 'New vs. Old', but rather one of 'theme'. It is great that they have found a way to incorporate Pirates into the Frontierland area, as it is easily one of my favourite lands in the park (unsurprising from a Davy Crockett freak like me).

As long as it doesn't interfere with Fantasmic, I'm happy.

Actually that is a good compromise. You're still keeping Walt's original creation and just enhancing it a little.

From all I've read, without this compromise we probably wouldn't have gotten ANY renovations or upkeep to Tom Sawyer Island--this way, the new ideas actually sound really fun, and I'm pretty impressed
