Well, I think there were 2 posters who were being confrontational and just trolling the thread without justifying their comments. Trolling is an unpleasant activity on any forum, and it seems to have been happening more than usual on here of late, which is a shame.

My friendly disney artist friend, and my working on some disney princess projects, revealed the following rules about the disney princesses:

For now, the princesses are not supposed to react to each other. They live in alternate worlds, and thus have their own unique traits to their worlds.
It is a strict no-no to allow princesses to directly react and/or speak to each other.

Crossovers where princesses exist together include HOUSE OF MOUSE (all of them are in a night club run by Mickey Mouse) and DISNEY'S XMAS ENCHANTMENT (princesses are in a theater watching xmas cartoons and singing in a princess choir), the new PRINCESS DVD GAME, (princesses addressing us in solo vignettes), and the toykopop Anime book, KILALA PRINCESS (featuring all the disney princesses in solo encounters with KILALA), and the PRINCESS ROYAL HORSE SHOW game (princesses in different places of a royal horse competition, hosting different games).

In all of these, I never saw the princesses reacting to EACH OTHER - only to their supporting characters, or to a particular situation (club closing, villians gesturing to all princesses, etc). So, despite being "together", Princesses are still following the "separates" rules.

In some cases, there have been marketing campaign studies where the princesses were made more interactive with each other. Those apparently never got off the ground.

What would break that "separates" rule would be for princesses to interact. I.e., Aurora sees Cindy, waves hi, chats with her.
_IF__ this does happen in KILALA PRINCESS , or in any of the KINGDOM HEARTS games, then that rule __is__ broken and we may see a lot more interaction and intermingling of the Princesses.

So if the princesses start reacting to each other, that could mean that we may see a film including more than one Disney Princess or a storybook or sth like it? Is the future of the Disney Princesses to become sthing like the Sailor Scouts or W.i.t.c.h.?

No, it has nothing to do with that. It has to do with what a poster above me said; if you don't like the Enchanted Tales, simply don't come into this topic. However, if you thought Enchanted Tales was a good idea but you had an opinion on how it could be better, then I would incourage you to share it.

it will be horrible if it does, the whole idea of the franchise is that it's a colloction of chacters from different film, not something like w.i.t.c.h or winx club and ect.

Disney Princess Enchanted Tales has two new stories in each volume. The first two feature Princess Aurora and Pricness Jasmine, and it's called 'Perseverance'.

As for them never interacting, I never really noticed it before! But, in Princess merchendising, they are always together. I've seen lots of posters where they are all looking out different windows and balconies of a pale yellow castle; so I kind of presumed they lived in teh same place!

I have only played the first Kingdom Hearts game, but the princesses (+ Alice!) are chatting together at one time (although we don't hear their discussion). Cinders and Aurora are together, and Jasmine, Snow White and Alice are together on another side of the room. They are all turned towards each other, so they're most certainly talking (since they are girls and who has ever heard of a bunch of girls together not talking?). ;)

Well they interacted at the Disney on Ice Princess Classics show, in a way. All the princesses were the guests at Cinderella's wedding.

Although I tend to think this rule really applies to the movies, and not special projects and merchandising.

Ok, thanks. Sounds like the "keep em apart" rule is bending, if not breaking.

Once I see a Disney sequel or some major video production showing DISNEY Princesses fully interacting, like Princesses do in the broadway play INTO THE WOODS, or in films like SHREK I-II-III, I'll know the rule is gone for good.

That should open up a whole new line of merchandise and possibly move the princesses into other product areas.

BTW, ever notice that Ariel is the only princess promoting summer swimware products? The only time you __EVER__ see Cinderella in a bathing suit is on Saturday Night Live's TV FUNHOUSE (and there, she looks ready to kill the announcer oggling her!).

Well if they ever decided to create a movie with more than one princesses they should use princesses of the same time/period. Like, Mulan, Jasmine and Megara could be together. But the whole idea sucks, anyway.

I've always felt the princesses were from different time periods. Actually, I'm writing a fanfic, The Lives and Loves of the Chavring Princes: From King Arthur to Peter Pan in which they are all related. Anyway, I really don't care about interactions between them, though. Disney has magic in each of the movies the princesses come from, so why can't they come to the future/past?

Pokey's indian outfit worked as swimware in her films, as I recall. Sort of all purpose clothing.

As for number of clothing changes, I'm not sure who's leading the pack these days, but Cindy in Cindy III wore a fair number of outfits, more so than she did in the first two movies. In III also had her hair restyled at least two more ways (on the boat, and in the pumpkin, were new).

I think Ariel's got the record for most costume changes. I won't count sequels mainly because I don't remember much of what the princesses wore in their sequels. I placed Mulan over Jasmine because Jasmine's disguise cloak just drapes over her standard outfit rather than acting as a totally different ensemble. Just going by original films, it'd go like this:

1. Ariel (standard purple seashell bra, white outfit made of sails, pink gown, pink nightgown, blue village dress, pearl blue dress, white wedding gown)

2. Cinderella (blue childhood dress, pale blue nightgown, standard brown/mint green dress, pink dress, silver ball gown, white wedding gown)

3. Mulan (standard green/blue/red dress, pink/blue/red matchmaker kimono, Ping armor, green training outfit, teal/aqua/scarlet dress)

4. Jasmine (standard pale blue outfit, brown village cloak, purple dress, red harem outfit, purple shawl dress which may have been a wedding dress before King of Thieves was produced)

5. Belle (standard sky blue dress, green dress, scarlet winter dress, yellow ball gown)

6. Aurora (standard black/white/gray peasant dress with removable shawl, blue fairy gown, pink fairy gown if you want to include it)

7. Snow White (scullery outfit, standard blue/red/yellow dress with removable cape)

8. Pocahontas (standard tan outfit)

Disney should utilize some of the other outfits more in their clipart, especially Ariel's pearl blue dress that we see for a grand total of 5 seconds, and Jasmine's purple one.

pink gown, pink nightgown? I think you're talking about the same dress twice! And I think the "pearl blue dress" is actually purple or that's how it seems to me.
Disneykid wrote:2. Cinderella (blue childhood dress, pale blue nightgown, standard brown/mint green dress, pink dress, silver ball gown, white wedding gown)
pale blue nightgown=silver ballgown

Actually there is one more; the puprple outfit at the very end of the movie, which is not the same with the purple dress that she wore just before Jafar took over the palace.

A nightgown a long dress you wear for sleeping. Cinderella wears it during "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes." Ariel wears it when Sebastian's making that coaching speech to her ("you've got to bat your eyes like this..."). The dress Triton makes for Ariel is actually pearl blue. It looks purple in one shot because Ariel's in a silhouette (notice her hair and skin are different).

I had to look at it again to make sure, but you're right. Both outfits are almost identical (if you remove the shawl from the end one, the only differences are in the headband and waistline), which is why I got confused. I'll correct my post to reflect this.

You can see here the 5 different outfits of Jasmine:

I think that the last dress that she wears in the movie is the same that she wears in the Return Of Jafar.

What do you think?
