For Region 1, all the waves come in tins, and the first two waves were briefly packaged as an exclusive Costco boxset without the tins.

You don't want the DVDs, just the tin? Or you want to make sure it comes in the tin? I'd get it, regardless, as it contains some pretty good cartoons, even if the restorations aren't as up to par as previous treasures.

Plus, you can't go wrong with a few Alice comedies!

If you are getting it from Target.com, it will have a tin... If you are buying it from E-Bay, or the Amazon.com Marketplace (private sellers,) it may or may not have a tin. As was stated above, the first two? waves were released in a box set from Costco (like Sam's Club, I think,) and they did not have tins. People may have bought up those box sets, so that they could sell the individual titles later on for profit.

BTW when I said the first 2 waves were released without tins by Costco, that was AFTER they had been individually released, with tins...

Every Disney Treasure to date has been in a tin.

Well, that is basically how they came - just make it look the best you can by cleaning up that glue...

This is one of the main reasons why I never buy the Treasures (or many other DVDs, for that matter; unless they're imports) over the net. I like the examine the case in person before buying it to make sure it doesn't have any scratches/dents... and also to ensure a disc hasn't come loose inside the case (which seemed to happen frequently when Disney was using the Alpha cases), potentially scratching it.

Fortunately, I haven't had much of the serious problems myself - since "over the net" is the way to get these sets in my part of the world.

Well, you could order from a store that uses better packaging. There's nothing inherent to the "net" itself that beats up your tins!

If it's that bad, contact Target/Amazon and tell them about it, they should send you a replacement one.

If you never buy at any place that has sent someone a messed-up DVD, you'll never have anywhere to shop! :D

I care about the DVDs and not the tins, but I don't like how Disney has cheapened-up the quality of the tins- Last weekend, I received both volumes of "Mickey Mouse in Black & White" from the DMC. The only other 2 Treasures I own ("Behind the Scenes" & the wartime one) are older and still had the good-quality tins. The MMinB&W vol. 2 had the paper on the back case barely hanging on by the glue, like what QueenRahel said. Even for someone who doesn't care about the packaging, it's just sad to see the quality go down.

i completely agree with you QueenRahel this part of the reason why i dont mail order anything cause of my bad experince with target powerd by amazon.com

when i ordered my planet of the apes ultimate collection( that cost me a amazing 199.00 cause at the time i couldnt find it in any stores) it was so damaged that i returned it imediately for a refund.
the box was smashed(not the shipping box but the box inside the shipping box which the shipping box by the way was not damaged at all),and the forhead of the ape head packageing was dented in a good 5 inches and had a gash on the side of the face and 4 of the dvds out the 14 were loose off of there holders.

iam sorry but when you pay 199 plus 24..99 for shipping they should freaking make sure it gets to you in one piece . luckily i was able to get it for a heck of a lot cheaper at the fox studio store when i worked on that backlot for the first time on a episode of House.

so i completely understand your being upset.
i see from your profile, you are in orlando the last time i was back home at the end last month i saw that they had several copies of that disney treasures tin at the virgin megastore at downtown disney, you might want to check there

Would you know whether getting your orders beaten up is very representative of the internet shopping experience, or have some of you just been unlucky once and then decided "never again"...?

Your experiences and shopping decisions are probably of no consequence to me, so I have no particular need to convince any of you about anything. But I think it's strange: Can it really be that bad all in all? In my DVD shopping I take advantage of the world market (because of the selection first and foremost) and have ordered a considerable number of my DVDs from far-away places - probably 300-400 or so. The worst (and I think only) "beating" I can remember was one of the Treasures tins looking quite dented, but not exactly ruined. And I'm not even sure the shipping was to blame. Not much of a problem in the long run.

If your bad experiences are representative - could it really be that ordering DVDs within the USA is more "dangerous" than having one's orders going halfway around the world?

my planet of the apes experience was mearly the straw to break the camels back, ive had many other bad shipping stories.
there is no excuse for them shipping that out the way they did.

your telling me one the bonus selling points of the set being the ape packaging haveing its forehead dented in 5 to 7 inches and haveing a gash across its face as not all that bad.
and that the factory sealed box holding everything that was inside the shipping box being crushed in on its side while the shipping box is in perfect condition not all that bad.

wow serisouly again for spending 200 dollars is it really to much to ask for a little quality controll
