SharksTale, and Madagascar look promising. Anyone know of a DW fan site similar to UD? I would love to chat about DW films too.

I get defensive when I think of Dreamworks. LOL. Because they're a rival of Disney, yes. LOL. It actually irks me that DW has an Oscar for Animated Feature while Disney does not have one for its in-house work (Spirited Away was Studio Ghibli, and I wouldn't count a Pixar win, should Finding Nemo win, as a trophy for Disney. It would be Pixar's victory.) And Disney won't likely have one...for a few more years, anyway. Grumble, grumble.
Anyway...
I thought the first Shrek was a bit overrated (and I liked Monsters, Inc. more), and I didn't really like Spirit all that much, but I will admit...the trailer for Shrek 2 made it look very promising, and funny. I'm eager to see it! The Puss in Boots character looks to be classic...and Julie Andrews is the voice of Fiona's mom. You gotta love that...
And I am interested in Madagascar, also.

I can't wait to watch Shrek 2. I really enjoy the first one.
At first I thought it won't be a hit, but when everyone was watching it I also watch Shrek and enjoyed it.
Bring on Shrek 2.
I think it comes out this summer.
Yay!

I absolutely enjoyed "The Road to El Dorado". The score is fantastic. Only wish the soundtrack offered more score and less songs. The songs in the film were great, and the visuals are too.
The Prince of Egypt, was one of my most anticipated motion pictures of 1998. Although 'Mulan' was my #1 choice.
I loved POE so much, that in March 1999, I saw the film in Hungary and Romania. It as fun!

Surely Small Soldiers is more of a Gremlins "rip-off"? It is after all directed by the same person. I see very little that is similar to Toy Story.Nedakh wrote:I forgot all about that title, never did see it. As for the others - Pocahontas and Prince of Egypt? I fail to see a connection. Also I doubt SharkTale will be anything like Finding Nemo. I think two computer graphic filmmakers realised how well an underwater setting could be animated at around the same time.
Oh and you forgot Treasure Planet - Sinbad!

to tell the truth i disliked it so much, i took it out about 20 minutes before the end. don't get me wrong, i love spirit, alot, but i just wasn't feeling the characters in el dorado. so i should have gave it a fair chance but the same day i watched, for the first time, great mouse detective, rescuers down under, pinocchio, and robin hood (disney bender) this movie just wasn't the caliber i waned it to be. the movie felt immature to me (coming from a 29 year old who watches disney all day) and the cartoon style was even bothering me although it definatly wasn't cheap looking, it just wasn't disney i guess. and on second thought i love spirit but am desperately seeking a program that will let me change the background music but leave in the voices and horse sounds because the bryan adams soundtrack almost ruins the movie for me.

Well this just goes to show how different opinions can be... I couldn't stand Spirit and even got mad while watching it! The animation was good, but that horse... man, it was just so dumb that it made me mad! I saw Prince of Egypt only with director commentary. The picture looked good, I'd like to see it with the actual audio sometime.

Now, Now MMB. I think we can all reasonably agree that healthy competition is what leads to a better product. If there were no real challengers out there then where's the motivation to keep your competitive wits about you?MickeyMouseboy wrote:i hope they both bomb and DW goes bankrupt or stops doing animation!
We need a somewhat healthy Dreamworks to continue to push the Disney Studios family to bigger and better works of their own.
