I HEARD A WHILE BACK

Post by disneyboy20022 »

When I first heard of a Toy Story 3 created by that Disney's Circle 7 that Pixar or i think it might have been john lassetter who said that if Pixar were to be involved he had an idea about it be featured around more of Jesse The Yodeling Cowgirl rather than another Woody saves Buzz Movie. Maybe it is just me but I kinda prefer the idea of Buzz be shipped to Asia for a Toy Recall. I am sure I have posted this before but for those who have not seen it below is a poster of Toy Story 3 of when Pixar was not involved. Whether or not they are going with this idea I have no clue. Also is something I found on Rotten Tomatoes website about what the plot is. I will quote it as well the synopsis of what the website seems to say the plot is. Also the site says that it is rated PG and is due out June of 2007. Whether or not the rating is correct I have no clue either

Toy Story III

Post by DisneyFreak5282 »

Sorry if this sounds dumb, but a few months ago, I remember there being a rumor about a Toy Story III being released in 2008. Are these rumors true? Has it been confirmed? I've been hearing the same for Scary Movie 5. If anyone can provide info, that would be great!

Actually I remember hearing about it also. I think the plot is about the Buzz Lightyear's being too dangerous or w/e so they all have to be recalled back to Taiwan, so Woody and co. have to save Buzz from being thrown out. I probably sound stupid lol but thats what I heard, can't remember from where tho.

Yeah that was the plot... at one point... That was the orignal working plot when Disney was going to make Toy Story III without Pixar and was going to make several Pixar Sequels without Pixar such as
Finding Nemo 2 and Monsters Inc 2. I did hear somewhere an update that disney is planning to make a Toy Story III and that it involves Pixar and that they abandoned the original plot of Buzz getting re-called. Instead the plot is rumoured to be about what would happen when Andy grows up and the toy's end up in the best place for them, somehere they will be loved and played with - a pre school nursery. Again this is only a rumor.

Also sorry for this if this was posted but I thought I would re-post it just while we are on the subject of Toy story III and other Pixar related Sequels.

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/news/comm ... yid=173186

Brad Bird quoted the following back in March of 2005
"Oh man," he said, "I don't know... I think I want to do something else for a little bit but I would love to return to these guys if the right project came about, because I love these characters. I have ideas that I didn't get to use in this movie that are good ideas."

Bird also told the website that he didn't think "Toy Story 3" would work without the original team producing it, saying, "They might be saying they'd do that, but it wouldn't be a good move for anybody because it would surely disappoint people and I think that Disney of all people are aware of how hard these films are to make and I think that deep down they respect that."

I thought TS3 was scrapped, which I think was a smart decision on Lasseter's part.

It stinks that it was canceled :( . I wish they could have made a Toy Story II, I don't know why. For Joe Ranft's memory, and just for a proper closure on the TS series (although the ending to Toy Story II wasn't half bad).

I've heard that the guy who voices Hamm the Pig didn't want to do a TS3 unless Pixar was doing it. Plus on top of Slinky and Wheezeys voice actors dying, Lenny The Binoculars was also voiced by the same person as Wheezey. If they did do TS3 than those three characters would have to be written out of it, or just have non-speaking roles, unless they use new actors which would suck. And I've heard Tom Hanks and Tim Allen have signed on for it so who knows. Anyways thats all I know so far.

Toy Story 3 coming in 2009

Post by azul017 »

Variety reports that indeed Disney and Pixar will turn out a third installment of the Toy Story franchise, due for release in 2009. Unlike the first two movies, John Lasseter won't be directing, but Lee Unkrich (who served as co-director for Monsters Inc., Toy Story 2 and Finding Nemo) will be helming it by himself. The script will be penned by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Michael Arndt (Little Miss Sunshine), with Tom Hanks and Tim Allen reprising their respective voices as Woody and Buzz.

This was revealed by John Lasseter and Disney animation president Ed Catmull this week.

I'm excited, too!

I just hope the scrpitwriter doesn't have Buzz shooting up while telling Bo Peep that she should strip-dance so Andy won't throw her out.
Needless to say, LMS does not have my vote for the Oscars.
:pan: Love It.

I can't believed what I just read. No Lasseter as director for Toy Story 3?! That just doesn't seem right. Is anyone else hating John's choice for not choosing to be director?

I thought it was quite a good movie... there are all sorts of people in this world, remember, and it's nice to have movies htat actually represent that fact. The generic Hollywood-produced garbage filled with young, hot stars and no actual plot are getting extremely tedious, in my opinion. Quirky movies like this one with characters who aren't perfect, and remain imperfect at the film's end are a great change of pace... and LMS was quite intelligently-written and very well-acted.

Hey, at least that idea is original! And weren't people(as evident on the first page of this thread) whining about Circle 7's Toy Story 3 being a "rehash"?
:P

Anyway, while I loved(or at least really liked) "Little Miss Sunshine" and think Michael Arndt can make the script itself good, I still see the same problem with a concept of a "Toy Story 3". The simple fact being: unless they completely dragged the film or went completely "out there" with the story, there really IS NO original story they can do. As much as I love this franchise, the fact is there is only so many stories you can make with toys. You'd end up having to make it about bringing new toys, making one of the toys "lost" or have them trying to live in the "outside" world when Andy grows. But wait... ALL of those ideas are "rehashing the last two". And considering how many people whined about Circle 7's being one, we simply can't have that, can we?

I still say the same thing I've been saying for over a year now: a t.v. show is the best bet. Considering there's a bunch of "little" stories they could do(like on the Toy Story DVD, they had those "jokes" of the toys waiting for Andy to come home from school) that can't really be made feature lenght, I think a t.v. show has more potential than a Toy Story 3 ever could.

I'm not bashing it before we've seen it, but I need more to be convinced. And I so far don't see this being worthy of higher anticipation than many of Disney's DTVs.

I thought this small snit bit was interesting.

"He (catmul I assume) and Lasseter showed clips from upcoming films, including "Ratatouille," "Meet the Robinsons," "Wall-E," "American Dog" and "Toy Story 3 ."

this just get me pumped because now we know there is test animation done and being shown privatly for the movie. if only they would leak onto youtube or something. Id kill to see it.

EDIT: oh, and as far as the story goes, I think we should keep in mind what lasseter has been saying for years. that he does not want to end it on a sad note. if Andy grows up, they toys would be sad and neglected. just like Emily was to Jessie. they suggested that maybe the toys go out to find new homes. perhaps a day dare where they can never be outgrown.

I do agree there isn't a whole lot more you can tell with toys, but on the other hand I don't. its just that the obvious storys don't come to mind. and if they were obvious than they would just be predictable. we should leave this to the story writers, not us. in theory they could do just about anything with these characters, because they are very adult like in terms of characters. they just have to change things to suit their world.

also, this is kind of random, but Id like to see a spin off movie with Emily and Jessie. like a prequel. that would be awesome to me. that short scene "Jessie's song" was like a brief glimpse into how that movie would look.
they could just expand on that. and they even have the technology to tackle animating humans a lot more these days after doing the incredibles so well.

Kyle, I think it would be a great idea to have a prequal with Emily and Jessie. But it would have to have a sad ending though, as we all would know how it ended!

I am personally glad that John isnt directing, as Lee Unkrich has codirected my favourite Disnye / Pixars!

well yes, the Emily one would have to be sad. but I was refering to the last toy story (as in the final film).

the Emily suggestion is a separate franchise almost, like a branch off.
if they wanted to have a happy ending though, they could just fast forward to when she finds woody and gets back to Andy and everything perfect again.
