I agree with those that want to see Pinocchio fall of 2008. To be honest, 101 Dalmatians is my least favorite film in the Platinum Collection, so I'd actually like to see Pinocchio released spring of '08. Since we (sort of) know that Dalmatians is coming in that slot instead, then I'll lobby for a fall Pinocchio release. Besides, Disney heavily promotes their fall Platinums much more than their spring ones. If that's the case, I'd love to see some Pinocchio merchandise released. It's been out of the public eye for too long, I think.
As for the Fantasias and Sleeping Beauty, I'm very satisfied with my releases for all three films. I'll only re-buy Fantasia for better picture quality (and/or if the Pastoral Symphony is unedited), and I'll only re-buy Sleeping Beauty if it features a new, comprehensive documentary instead of the little featurette it currently has. Based on what we've gotten with Peter Pan, though, I'm not holding my breath for a new Sleeping Beauty "making of."

nope, It's still Special Edition according to the cover artNandor wrote:Well, we (in the Netherlands) never had Platinum Editions either, but Peter Pan is the first one to bear the PE-name. Maybe it's the same in the UK?yamiiguy wrote:well I live in the UK too and we don't have PE's, we just have Special Editions

Once again, thanks Escapay!
Why would Disney have released a 2-disc "Sleeping Beauty" and then decide to release a second 2-disc "Sleeping Beauty"? That just baffles my mind. I would think more people have SB than SW&t7D on DVD, since fewer people had DVD players/bought DVDs back in 2001 than in 2003. There are so many other Disney films that don't have any 2-disc set already *cough "The Black Cauldron" cough*...not that SB isn't a worthy film, because it is...
...I say this and yet I want the "Fantasia" movies to be rereleased...unless I get my hands on the Anthology...
now I'm just confused...

Here in brazil, Peter Pan is the first of it's line to receive the Platinum Edition title too. And the first 2-disc edition we had since Cinderella. unfortunately we got cinderella, lady and the tramp and the little mermaid in single-disc edition, together with non-PE title like Alice in wonderland, Brother bear, atlantis...and we didnt even get a POcahontas dvd at all. i hope its all coming this year or the next. let's pray lolyamiiguy wrote:nope, It's still Special Edition according to the cover artNandor wrote: Well, we (in the Netherlands) never had Platinum Editions either, but Peter Pan is the first one to bear the PE-name. No you're not in the minority ... "Pinocchio" is WAY overdue for the Platinum Treatment, it stands far out there amongst their classics in terms of not having a Platinum Edition. I hope Pinocchio is the Spring as promised; even though next year is Snow White's 70th, it would be a pretty big diss if the re-issued the Snow White Platinum before giving Pinocchio a Platinum.Big Disney Fan wrote:I think he said he THINKS 101 Dalmatians will be for Spring '08. I for one would like to see Pinocchio be released first before Dalmatians. I guess I'm in the minority on this one.Widdi wrote: That news makes me very happy. That is the one PE I've been anticipating since the day I discovered the collection. Though I am still hoping October will go to a new title and not to a re-issue of Snow White.
It may just be coincidence but that answer made MagicMirror's release dates much more plausible. Though Sleeping Beauty before Pinocchio would dissappoint me. Meh can't win 'em all.

Actually this year is <i>Snow White</i>'s 70th Anniversary. Though Disney could make next year be it too, judging from <i>Lady and the Tramp</i>.ohmahaaha wrote:I hope Pinocchio is the Spring as promised; even though next year is Snow White's 70th, it would be a pretty big diss if the re-issued the Snow White Platinum before giving Pinocchio a Platinum.
I too am eager for <i>Pinocchio</i> to get revisited. I mean, things like <i>Sleeping Beauty</i> and <i>Peter Pan</i> may not have been deemed Platinum Editions, but they haven't been treated to a barren disc and they were made available more recently. While there will obviously be room to revisit things like <i>Snow White</i> and <i>Fantasia</i>, they are obtainable -- for a price -- in very good form. Even <i>Pinocchio</i>'s UK re-release isn't much. There seems little reason to make it wait so long for just treatment.

I really hope Pinocchio and 101 Dalmatians are the ones to come in 2008.
Pinocchio is definitely my favourite of all Disney films but I think many are underestimating the art in 101 Dalmatians. It brought to mind the work of great British cartoonists like Ronald Seale and H. M. Bateman, and is the best film artistically from the xerox period, in my opinion.

SLEEPING BEAUTY already had a Special Edition release. I doubt they will release it again as a Platinum DVD.
I want Pinocchio and 101 Dalmatians next. 101 Dalmations Spring 2008 and Pinocchio in the fall.
I really wish 101 Dalmatians was this fall (2007 fall) instead of Jungle Book.

Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.
Sleeping Beauty will be coming out as a Platinum as it was in the schedule that was announced a few years agojediliz wrote:SLEEPING BEAUTY already had a Special Edition release. I doubt they will release it again as a Platinum DVD.

TJB is being released Oct. 2, 2007. Jediliz just said that they wish that "One Hundred and One Dalmatians" was being released.danfrandes wrote:But I thought Jungle Book was going to be released in fall 2007 for its 40th anniversary.
