The Platinum Edition of Peter Pan was released in Denmark today, here are some screenshots from the movie, the menus and what I think is the first pictures of the restoration of the upcoming PE of The Junglebook...
The movie has been wonderfully restored, unfortunately I only have time to watch the bonusdisc tomorrow...
WOAH!! I'm so jealous that you got your copy exactly one month before everyone else! Lucky. It's times like this that I wish I could live in Denmark!
The screencaps look pretty good. Although, to me, it doesn't look as good as Lady and the Tramp or The Little Mermaid. Is that just me? It just seems that the lines aren't as sharp as they were in the other films from the 50's (in their new 2-Disk DVD's, of course!) And, once again, I'm EXTREMELY excited about The Jungle Book release! I've literally been waiting years for this release! And now, it's just around the corner!

MY "FAB FOUR": 1- FANTASIA, 2- THE LION KING, 3- BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, 4- THE JUNGLE BOOK
I sort of like the Jungle books color palette, it seems pretty accurate. Do you guys think the backgrounds got re-registered? I also love the architechture, it's stunning. I haven't seen that movie in years.
Oh, I almost forgot. If you know how, can you scan the disk art? possibly..?? as well as the back of the cover? (I'm really sorry if I'm asking for too much. I've been dying to see the disk art for a while now). If you can't put up pictures of the disk art, can you describe it? Is it like TLM and Cinderella's disk art? Or is it like LATT's?
Thank you so much!

It's almost 3AM here so Im going to bed now, but I'll påut up the disc and cover art up tomorrow...
The discs are more like the LaTT ones not the horrible silver ones of TLM and Cinderella... Disc 1 has the picture of Peter on it (basicly just the front cover rearranged) disc 2 has the Darling kids flying on it... also just the pic from the coverart... Both discs have basicly the same background as the front cover... Hope that'll do 'till tomorrow...

It's nice, but the restoration done to LaTT seems somewhat better IMO... PP is not quite as sharp, but there is no artifacts, dust or grain in the picture so overall it's a really nice presenation and way better than the previous "european" Special Edition of PP.

Actually, I noticed this in the old SE restoration, too, to an even greater extent. For it to be happening in two separate transfers, it must be an animation choice.
I love the screencaps. The colors seem warmer than the good-but-kind-of-cold-looking SE transfer. Everything also looks smoother and tighter in this one. Contrast seems to be much better, too. Wendy and company had this nasty off-white tinge to their skin in the "Your Mother and Mine" scene from the previous restoration; it seems to be corrected here. I'm surprised the RKO logo is still intact. This makes me wonder if Lowry didn't do this, afterall. 271286, does the film come with restoration credits attached to the end like Bambi, Cinderella, and Lady and the Tramp? Thanks for posting these!

Same here, the print quality looks pretty promising, not just for Peter Pan, but for Jungle Book, too.
"for games and activities and music and more go to disc 2" LOL!!!
Restoration looks really good though. I cant really say much more as I havnt seen the original transfer on the "special" edition. and am I the only one who thought the Little Mermaid transfer was not that great. I spotted lots of grain throughout and it seemed really dark and not really colorful. IMO
Well, I copied a few of the shots, then went against my word to not watch Peter Pan until the Platinum came out, in order to make some comparisons. They're downsized to save bandwidth, but I can upload the fullsize images if people want me to.
Left: New Platinum Edition
Right: Old Special Edition
I like how the colors are more lush (especially the Tink cap), and brighter during daytime shots, with the appropriate type of darkness at night. The new cap of the ship makes it look less dull, color-wise.
