The Quail *PHEASENT* bird from Bambi:

She is underrated, because she couldnt keep quiet, she couldnt contain herself, she cracked..."I CAN'T TAKE THIS ANY LONGER!" *fly fly* BANG!!!

And you know what? It's all her fault why all those animals that day got killed by the hunter...

Do I have sympathy for this terribly underrated bird? None what so ever.

All the characters from "The Black Cauldron", especially Gurgi (he's my favorite Disney character). Eilonwy should be in the Princess Collection, but she probably never will be. :(

The Horned King is on some merchandise (pins, posters), which is nice to see. Creeper was on a pin, too, if I'm not mistaken.

Hate to be picky, but the bird who blew her cover and got shot was a pheasant, not a quail...I guess that goes to show just how terribly underrated she really is. :P

As well as the three good fairies, I love Rabbit from winnie the pooh - he's HILARIOUS!!! So grumpy all the time!

Also, just a note on the princesses - To me, a disney princess is a leading female character from a disney film, so to me, Alice, Meg, Esmeralda and Jane are worthy of being "princesses", even if they aren't royalty. After all, the term princess could be meant in the same way that a father feels about his daughter - not a real princess - but a true princess in his eyes.

But, that was not the purpose of this thread. I made this thread so you could tell me a bit about your favourite characters who you don't feel get enough attention. It seems to have become a "Princess status" debate.
I really appreciate the answers and time you've given to it, but let's get back on topic. Thanks guys.

To me, an underrated character is one who is enjoyed generally by audiences, but is eclipsed by other characters in the film. The three good fairies were eclipsed by Aurora, Rabbit was eclipsed by Pooh and pals.
My brother also happens to be a huge fan of Archimedes, the owl from sword in the stone. Although not the most popular disney film, Merlin and Arthur/Wart tend to get the most recognition.

Which could also translate as the father offically a pedophile.

Hell no. The three good(bad) fairies took away everyone's role (minus Malificant). The movie should of been renamed: "THREE GOOD FAIRES". I'm actually glad Aurora getting more exposure through merchandise etc, cause she had near none in her own damn movie.

I suppose by underrated we mainly mean underused in merchandising, or under-talked about... I think the most natural places to find the most qualified candidates must be Disney comics and Disney's more underrated films.

Off the top of my head, I'd love to see more exposure for and attention paid to the Duck family (beyond Donald and the boys), Disney's Gremlins, Princess Eilonwy and Gurgi, the Gummi Bears cast (with yet another beautiful and unsung Disney Princess, and a spunky one at that), Elliott the dragon, Figment the dragon (yeah, I'd like to see him beyond the gates of EPCOT) and other park characters, Scamp (well, basically, I feel they botched the opportunity to expose him to a wider audience), Bucky Bug, Eega Beeva the man of tomorrow, Lil' Bad Wolf, Supergoof and his nephew (and I'm still confused about Goofy's original son, Junior, ha), Eden the Genie, Basil and Dawson, Dodger, characters from the anthology films, stand alone shorts, and Silly Symphonies, and don't get me started on live-action. Of course, those are just a few off the top of my head. Basically, I love it when I see anything of an underexposed character.

A popular character that I feel is underrated is Daisy. Oh, and Roger Rabbit and his cohorts. At least Daisy has had a little more attention paid to her with stuff like House of Mouse around though.

After reading this thead after posting, I'm going to add some more to my list:
Bernard and Bianca (in general, The Rescuers is underrated)
Rafiki
Archimedes
Bagheera (if I was Mowgli, I'd rather be raised by him than Baloo, even though I like both)

That whole show had a great concept to it. THey should make a little TV movie for it or something. Yeah, my little sis has a small Skippy plush, and I got the action figure 3 pack of the robot and two versions of Skippy, and the big action figure of the alien! So glad I got that, because I had no idea they were going to get rid of the attraction!

I haven't seen either version but... Skippy's actually still in SGE though right?

My list:

Mr. Toad/The entire of "The Wind in the Willows" segment: Among the most well-written and most in-depthed characters ever written. If they ever consider getting rid of his wild ride with something stupid like say a "The Little Mermaid" ride, I'll boycott everything Disney and destrop any evidence I was a fan. :)

The entire cast of "Chicken Little: A cast of such wonderfully colorful characters. Even if you don't care too much for this epic, I think you have to at least like Chicken Little himself. IMO, he deserves bigger success than Nemo or Stitch.

The entire cast of "Who Framed Roger Rabbit": Unless Iger finds away to promote these characters again, Disney still has yet to be "saved" as far as I'm concerned. :)

Jose Carioca and Panchito Pistoles: C'mon, I want a TTC t.v. show! At least let's see Jose Carioca more.

I AM looking forward to eventually experiencing the new Stitch attraction too, as I am a fan of the character and it was under construction last time I was at the parks (summer 2004).

Merlin is at the top of my list, as he is probably my favourite Disney character - Archimedes as well, of course.

The reason that Cruella De Vil is currently underrated as a powerful villain (after enjoying quite a lot of praise in the early 90s) in my opinion is that later incarnatians of the character have not been as great. Glenn Glose's performance was great, but it went wrong when she fell into tubs of goo, was crushed by pigs and scared by raccoons. The version in the animated series was similarly a 'victim' in this respect. This seems to have succeeded in diminishing the menace of the original animated version, who we could never imagine having things fall on her head - it's akin to Maleficent tripping over her robes or Ursula getting stuck in a doorway; it just shouldn't happen even if it logically could.

Medusa is the sort of villain these things could (and perhaps should) happen to, and she is a verry underrated character; perhaps Milt Kahl's greatest achievement.

Flora Fauna and Merryweather are probably the best fairies (with the possible exception of the Blue Fairy), and are not given due attention probably because they aren't slender young models. They are pretty much the heroines of their film, and are often forgotten about.

Figaro - the cutest character Disney has ever created.

The Coachman - the scariest character Disney has ever created.

I also noticed that the Big Bad Wolf was not on the villains countdown; he really deserved a place.

Oh, and the Black Cauldron gave us the best and most underrated Disney Princess.

The Fates (from Hercules) are my favourite 'minor' characters and deserve more attention.
