I work in my college's mailroom (basically, I get paid to surf the internet and do my homework for eight hours each week, SWEET). When I'm at home over breaks, I work at Toys "R" Us.

No, I have yet to get a job. I am thinking about getting one this summer, mostly to pay for my obessesive Disney DVD buying. I am thinking that half of what I get will go to my DVDs and the other half to put into the bank to save up for college. There are two conflicts though. First is marching band. MB starts on August 1st and doesn't stop until the first week or two of November. And then I have an English problem. I'm not sure rather or not I want to be in Honors English 10 next year. I love to read, but not normally when I am forced to read. And this year, of HE9 proved to be harder than I thought, but I'm handling it pretty well, at least I think so. Last summer it took me forever to read, and I was still working on a paper for it on the day before school started. Some of my problems was probably because I was on a 3-week vacation with my family, more about that later. Well, I'll let you know what happens.

Nope, but I'm looking. I applied for a job at Vons last week and I might go apply at Target on Tuesday when I pick up Cinderella III. I just got my license, so I need a job to pay for my gas.

Funny you should ask. I quit my job on Friday. I am unemployed for the first time in 16 years. I already have another offer but instead I am off to Maui today with an open ended ticket. Time to ditch my career as an accountant and at 40 start a career as a professional surfer.

Wow, it's at the 50%/50% mark. I don't have a real job right now, but I'm a full-time college student, which is a job in itself. I've had almost a dozen jobs in my lifetime, and I'm not even 22 yet. I've been sending my resume to companies for an internship, and I may be getting the one I want (I'll find out Feb. 16th, hopefully).

Ha, this is a tough one for me. I'm in a transitional period that I've been in for far too long, but at the same time, I consider myself a professional illustrator (who does other stuff sometimes too). I don't have a steady income, but than a freelance artist/illustrator really doesn't. However, I haven't been pulling in enough money yet annually to even have to pay taxes (which means I don't even make a 1,000 a year yet). The reason is, I am currently working on two book projects, one is a graphic novel about to be printed and the other a children's book that we are just starting on, and for both I have made deals with the author's to be part owner. That means I don't get any money till the books are making money. It's a good deal if they hit it big (not so much if they don't, of course). It takes up most of my time though, and while I have looked for a local job as an artist to bring in a steady paycheck, there just isn't a need for artist where I live unless they are highly computer literate graphic artists (you know, heavy on logo design and web design, well skilled in all illustration programs). I'm far more traditional and I'm barely trying to relearn Photoshop right now. I have a college degree (in 2D art), but it's pretty much useless around here, and experience is what counts in art anyway. I can't afford to relocate, naturally, but getting a minimum wage job around here is pretty pointless too. You get hardly any hours (it's always part time) if you can even find anything (they generally only want bilingual applicants here), and the money you earn barely covers your gas. Plus, part time means no benefits. It's a pretty bad situation. Thankfully, my parents are supporting me right now as I work on these books, but if they don't bring in some sort of payoff, it's going to be bad for me in a year or two. However, at the moment, I call myself an illustrator. It's all I do, after all. I also have an interest in writing and acting (though I haven't gotten over my nerves enough yet, which always cause me to forget my lines, and there are so few opportunities here anyway), and plan to submit some comic strips to syndicates if I ever find the time to make some decent samples. This is the year I've got to make something happen, because I'm no longer in my 20s (even though it doesn't feel that way until someone points it out) and my little sister will be out of college in one more year. She's an actress and expects me to move to L.A. with her. I don't know how we're going to pull that off, but in addition to a lack of jobs, there's NO ONE to date here, so I'm hoping we can.
