princesses with Dolly Parton singing 9 to 5
Anyone remember this? I recall one with someone singing "She works hard for the money but not this one"

I really like that song and that whole performance was pretty cool, but the pairing of Disney characters and "9 to 5" is pretty odd. The Disney of today would undoubtedly fear the image of Minnie Mouse complaining about being overworked.

I'm a little bit confused. I know the Dolly Parton song "9 to 5" which I believe was used in a film of hers where she was a secretary. I can't remember the name. But when was this song done with Disney characters? Around the time that the song was popular? Was it a music video or live performance or what?
The movie is also called, shockingly enough, 9 to 5.goofystitch wrote:I'm a little bit confused. While the performance was surreal, it was still neat to see. Speaking as the Alice fan that I am (stop rolling your eyes

It's actually Cinderella's castle from WDW. The segment is from the "Walt Disney World's 15th Anniversary Celebration" special that aired in 1986. The following summary is from http://www.waltslife.com/disparkvideos.htmDisneykid wrote:This seems to be a live performance at Disneyland. You can see a bit of Sleeping Beauty castle behind the stage.
Walt Disney World's 15th Anniversary Celebration (1986)
Celebrate Walt Disney World’s 15th birthday with this awesome show from 1986! Hosted by Beatrice Arthur and Betty White, this celebration kicks off with Michael Eisner offering a toast to Disney World. Dolly Parton sings “9 to 5” with all of the Disney characters , followed by awesome footage of the Magic Kingdom and some old attractions, such as 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, the old Tomorrowland and the Wedway People Mover, the old entrance to Epcot when called “Epcot Center”, Captain EO, Horizons, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad without Splash Mountain next to it! Musical guests are Ray Charles, the Monkees, Dolly Parton, Diahanne Carroll, the Charlie Daniels Band, Emmanual Lewis, Air Supply, and special guest Charlton Heston. You’ll see footage of Walt’s EPCOT video and exclusive drawings and footage of Walt Disney World being built, including opening day and Roy Disney’s dedication speech! An excellent 80’s piece and VERY RARE!

I heard the song, but I remember the movie. There was one scene in the film where Lily Tomlin dressed as Snow White. It was a parody of a Disney film. It has animated animals in that scene where Mr. Hart (Dabney Colman) asked Violet to have some coffee. After that he tasted it and he thought it was rat poison. That was funny.

I had never seen this television special before. It sure was weird watching Cinderella dancing like that!! It also seemed strange to have Daisy as short as she was here.
