Congrats on finding RTN! I personally don't collect Disney sequels, but I know that many of them can be hard to find! I'm actually not suprised about the black case for RH. When I bought Brother Bear from a used DVD/CD store this past summer, it was originally in a GREEN keepcase (as in, the ones used to Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring). The colors looked good and everything, but being a perfectionist, I asked to switch cases with on in a black keepcase. AND it was because of that and the lack of inserts that the guy discounted it from $12.99 (used, obviously) to $5.75. 8)

As far as Robin Hood, I'm personally happy with the GC edition. The only reason I might buy the MWE is for the widescreen version and for what little more bonus features you get. But then again, you loose part of the picture, so maybe fullscreen is better. But of course, it's up to you.

-BB
Nice!! How'd you get a discount? Did you just ask? Also, the reason I purchased RTN was because I saw it a little over a year ago and I had taped it on Disney Channel, so I liked it! I wanna go back and get the GC of RH, but I've been spending money on DVDs like crazy! From December 26 - January 1 (today), I spent $135 on DVDs (without the tax)! I know it doesn't seem like alot, but that was 9 DVD (still doesn't seem like alot, but that includes 4 TV Show sets and 5 movies, most of which I STILL have to watch!)

Also, BB, speaking of discounts (this is a little OT), but the other day, I saw the movie "Little Man" for $24.99, but then I saw a copy that was $12.99, and then I looked at the back of the case. It was cracked, and the paper was ripped. I took it up to the counter, and I asked if I could just get the one in good condition for $12.99. The guy said no, but he said he would let me see the condition of the disc. It was flawless (because it was new..), so I was like "Whatever, the paper's only ripped on the back, it's cool", and the guy gave me a new black case for it! I walked outta there a happy camper!
Ah, I LOVE discounts!! :P And I actually didn't ASK for a discount...I actually had Brother Bear on hold for me, and when I got there and saw that it was in a green keepcase with no inserts, I said "Thanks, but no thanks." So, the guy that works in the store said, "Well, how about this. I'll give it to you for $5.75" So, I thought about it for a while, and I figured, if I can switch the green case out for a black one here in the store, then I'll go for it. Of course, we switched them out, and I got a Brother Bear DVD! Oh, and you DO know that I didn't purchase this at Gamestop/EBGames, right? It was a local store. :)

I know how you feel with spending a lot of money on DVD's lately. I must have bought like 15 DVD's this year alone (which, believe me is a record for me, and my entire family put together!!), and hundreds of dollars on them (considering that I bought sets like Fantasia Anthology, Snow White, Pirates of the Caribbean 2, etc.) That's why for now, I'm taking a break of serious DVD shopping until the release of Peter Pan in March. :)

As far as the Treasures in tins....um, you guys MUST be looking at Kram's picture....because my one (somewhat lonely) treasure is housed in its tin on my shelf...next to my copy of Snow White.

They just don't fit in my new tower and they look more uniform to me if they are kept tinless.

I was wondering...do DVD covers fade easily? My tower is right by the windows and I don't want them to fade.

Yes. Go to Blockbuster and see some DVD cases there that have been under flourescent lights all day long. When they fade, they FADE.

I just bought Lady and The Tramp: Platinum Edition at a Pawn Shop I go to a lot, I bought it for 8$ with the Pamphlet inside, mint condition, no scratches or anything and it had a slipcover (as if it matters  ) I know the guys who work there pretty good since I'm in there all the time, and the actually sit and watch the movies at least once while working to make sure they work, they have the Incredibles, Bambi 2 and Spirited Away there also on DVD from what I saw, but I didn't have enough money for all of them :( :(

MickeyMouseBoy I envy your statuette collection. May I ask where you got them? I've never seen anything like them before.

My collection grew quite a bit this christmas I added:
The Fox and the Hound
The Rescuers
The Rescuers Down Under
The Great Mouse Detective
Hercules
The Emperor's New Groove
Mulan
Pocahontas
Alice in Wonderland
The Black Cauldron
Robin Hood
Dumbo
Toy Story
Toy Story 2

And I finally got Peter Pan, the only DVD to survive the fire, back from my friends place on the otherside of the country. Peter Pan was in my living room at the time (the living room didn't burn) so it made it out okay. I forgot it at my friends place last summer when I went for a visit, but she sent it back along with Mulan, Alice and both Toy Story's for christmas.

Here's my collection:

Image

The snowglobes and the Ariel musical figurine are just there temporarily; them and the rest of my figurine collection (around a dozen or so) are going to put in a glass case I'm going to be buying from IKEA in a week or two. I won't post the rest of my room, even though there's a ton of Disney stuff.

Anyway, here are the animation DVDs:

Disney classics

Rest of Disney classics & Pixar

"Other" Disney, Studio Ghibli, & Don Bluth

& the rest

Now where did that come from...? What's the point?

I wouldn't really say I "hate" the sequels, but I don't intend to see most of them, either. On the other hand, since I don't really "hate" the sequels, I may not be among the ones you're talking to here...

Woah there, requila! Personally, I HAVE seen a large majority of the sequels. I'm not one of those people that say, "I hate vanilla ice cream" and have never tried it. When sequels have come on the Disney Channel, or TOON Disney, I have given them a chance to prove themselves. But an overwhelming majority of them have failed. Miserably. In my opinion, sequels like Lion King 1.5, Little Mermaid II, and Cinderella II should be burned at the stake. (Sorry, to those who enjoy those films, but this is my opinion after all). Now, hate really is a strong word. I do not hate sequels. It's more like I think they are unworthy and do not equal the original in animation, plot, creativity, and a number of other things. There has been only one sequel I enjoyed so far: The Lion King II. That film had very good animation, great characters, and also the return of the voice cast! (Well, almost the whole cast. The only character that I can tell that has a different voice in TLK2 is Zazu. Which annoys me a little). And, likewise, it's the only sequel I'm contemplating getting on DVD. "What about the other sequels?" you might ask. Not a chance. The only other sequels I thought were just ok (but not that amazing...not worth the $10-$20 for the DVD) were Lady and the Tramp II and 101 Dalmatians II. (Particularily LATT2, because of the genuine wish to stick as close to the art of the original as possible. I also like 101DII for its creativity).

As far as your belief on how a person must have every single last freaking Disney DVD in order to "have standing" to back up your knowledge of Disney is utter BS. I'm sorry, but if I'm not willing to spend the money on Toddler "Learn How to Read!" DVD's just because they're labeled with the Disney logo on it doesn't make me any less of a Disney fan or collector. If anything, it just makes me more money-smart in that I will not spend my money on DVD's I would never watch.

You say I'm not a completist, or that I don't collect Disney Sequels on DVD's or Disney Live-Action films. But you CANNOT say that I'm not a "true" Disney DVD collector just because I don't have "The Jungle Book Blog 4.67" or "Pooh Learns the ABC's". That's just rude and lack of feeling for other's feelings and opinions. I am personally very happy and very proud of my collection. At 22 DAC's and 2 Treasures (so far), I feel like I have come a long way since my collection's beginning in 2005 and I have worked very hard to get it at this point, and have spent many hours calling stores and searching for many rare, OOP Disney DVD's. All without purchasing DVD's off the internet. It is this devotion and also my desire to save money that make me a true collector. I also make it a point to watch each of my Disney DVD's at least once per year. And I enjoy doing that and find it fairly managable. Your collection, on the other hand, would take one a couple of years, watching DVD's non-stop, just to watch each DVD one time. Not to mention, you would be watching DVD's like "Fun with Pooh and Roo" which is really meant for little kids. Now you tell me who the collector is!

(PS- I truely am sorry for the above rant. I just had to let out some steam, and nothing fries me more than requila's arrogance!)

A woman after my own heart. Totally agree with everything there! And I think you really should pick up the other two, if you can find them at great used prices (I got my Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp's Adventure for only about $7, and got 101 Dalmatians II: Patch's London Adventure for $6.66). Plus, the Scamp DVD is pretty good for a direct-to-video title. Has an *audio commentary* and a great 17-minute featurette.

Brava, brotherbear! Too bad he'll wave it off as "you don't have all of them, so you still have no standing!" and go hump his DVD collection.

I'm more than certain this was partly directed to me. :D I love the fact that you feel *you* need to see I have a collection in order to believe my opinions about Disney films are justified. :P

Still going with my "no pictures, why should I prove anything?" stance. Of course, if I have to remind anyone again, people only need to look for me on dvdaficionado to see the contents of my DVD collection, minus the shelves.
