Cinderella III: A Twist in Time DVD Press Release/Discussion

Another thing...I had a bit of a dilemma the other day when I went to a local video game/DVD store while my parents were getting chinese take-out next door. It was January 27th and not February 6th and I was standing in this store with a slipcovered copy of Cinderella III in my hands! There it was in a plastic security case and it had all the stickers and everything. I could've easily bought Cinderella III right then and there at a much earlier date than expected!!!
BUT...
The price was $24.95 and I'm so stingy with money that I reasoned in my head that I shouldn't pay the extra $5-10 just to get the DVD early (as opposed to ordering online or buying at Target/wal-mart). Also, I felt it would be odd and some what illegal if I bought the DVD before the official release day (especially since it was so much earlier).
Given the situation, what would you guys have done? I mean I really really really can't wait for this movie and I watch the preview all the time, but I felt so wrong (and $$ stubborn) to get it this early.

Now if it was the Secrets...Disneyland DVD, then of course I would've bought it right then and there!

I wouldn't have bought it but that's because I wait for wal-mart to have it because they either come out with it at $13 something at the very beginning (when it first comes out, at least they have done that for some other movies) or at least have a 2 pack special for $20. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product. ... id=5491135

I would have jumped at the opportunity and bought it. For a long time, I would always pre-order from disneystore.com because I would typically receive the movie 2-3 days before it came out. Now when I order, I get it 2-3 days after it is released, so I no longer do my business with them. I had "Fun and Fancy Free" on VHS a good 2 weeks before it actually came out because a store put it out early. I felt so special. I'm not very stingy with money, though. You deffinatley could have saved money by not buying it, but you also wouldn't be waiting around in anticipation.

I found the coloring book at my Borders in the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania. It was in the coloring/activity/sticker book section, next to the kid's DVD section. Borders also part of Waldenbooks, so you may find it at Waldenbooks, too. Also, Toys R Us seems to have every book I've had trouble finding, so maybe it'll be there too!

DonDuck, I agree with you, this movie should have original music or stuff that existed back in the 1700's or 1600's France. So far, it sounds like the story and animation are great, but they aren't paying attention to details like the way the fairy godmother's magic worked or even the way the slipper's heart was always sparkling...

I thought the movie was specticular and I' ging to buy it because the ending chages everything ( well sort of you'll just have to wait and see) also the animation is beautifuly done and the voice actors are wonderful ( but some of the lines are cheesy like "wait hold the trumpet") I woud say it is a must for any disney collector or even just a fan

Someone sent me a DivX of the movie, and I just finished watching the DVD I made from it.

I'm quite impressed. To say this one was a step above Cinderella 2 would be like saying steak is a step above hamburger. A great plot, very exciting, and nicely animated for a DTV sequel. The songs were ok. Could have been better, but the end credit song, I Still Believe, by the Heroes cheerleader is quite nice, and much better than most of these pop songs done for movies by Disney Channel stars lately.

I give it two thumbs up.

I thought they would have had a creepy eerie sounding version of "so this is love" playing when the prince is dancing with Anastasia. Also I think the reason they chose Anastasia over Drizella was she is slightly less ugly IMO and because she didn't seem as mean as Drizella (she was the one that started ruining Cindy's dress). And wasn't the entire slipper always sparkling? I remembered it did even after Cinderella pulled it out of her pocket (I assume she has one behind her back), and even when the stepsisters were trying it on.

I really think that Drizella should have been chosen because I think she is a better dancer, to me she's the pretty, she seems to be Lady Treaine's favorite, she is more evil, and

in case no one knew this - you can watch an 8 minute preview of the movie on Cinderella3dvd.com I saw a commercial advertising the movie and the narrator said "catch an 8 minute sneak peek at the movie".

Am i the only person who has seen it and think that "The Prince" is freaking bad ass?

he has become one of my favorite princes now after this movie...he is basically a much more royal eric...hehe.

Be sure to keep your eyes out for the larger book based on C III. The art styling is like the smaller Random House one, but much more of it. The artwork was drawn by real Disney artists.

I have seen coloring book at Borders, Walmart, Barnes and Noble, and Toys R Us. Apparently only one so far.

Meanwhile, C-III was made on a tight (for feature) schedule and a limited budget (not like Tarzan which ran $180 mil or so). The animators tried really hard as it was their last feature, but variations always exist within a hand drawn film.

By comparison, C-II cost $5 mil, smaller yet. Still, parts of that (act III, especially) look quite good.

By comparison, the next animated film (not Disney) to hit the theaters cost around $750,000. Yup, $750K is all, which won't matter at all to its internet-animation raised audience.

ACTUALLY...I LOVE THAT TITLE! Because then it's not treating this like a canon sequel, but more like a possibility, a "what if" that is merely a companion to the first film if you'd like to know what things could have been like. Also, it's just more original to me, because I've actually found some books that have the title "A Twist In Time"!

Anyway, kurtadisneyite, I like Aqua Teen Hunger Force. The animation is cheap, but the movie's based on a television series, and TV has cheap animation. It's simply a different style, it's too different to judge next to Disney animation. Anyway, I'm looking for that book but can't even find it mentioned at Amazon.com! Also, thanks for filling us in on the budget and other info!

Oh, and I think Anastasia is getting picked for these love relationships because with Drizella's black hair and greenish outfit, she seems more like the "bad girl", the evil one. Anastasia wears pink, which is associated with girlyness and romance! Also, Anastasia is always following her sister, she seems less competent to do evil. When Drizella says, "Why, that's my slipper!", Anastasia merely tries to follow, "Well, I like that! That's my slipper..." She just seems like she can't be independently evil, or something.

I also agree with the recognition of her red hair and Ariel's red hair! Capitalizing on Ariel's popularity in looks, too?

I'm really excited to see this movie. I have to admit that I don't care much for the original, but I do think this film will be great.

Anyway, I think we get Anastasia as the "nice one" in this film for a few reasons. Number one, a lot of people who have seen no. 2 might ask, "Why'd she do that to Cinderella?". No. 2, just what Disney Duster said, Anastasia always followed Drizella. It's kinda like Anastasia betraying her leaders, Tremaine and Drizella, and following her heart.

I've seen alot of Cinderella III lately. Whether its the DVD commerical or the new Super Short Report on Disney Channel-by the way, I think the guy and girl that play Mike and Sally aren't doing "Mike's Super Short Show" anymore because they're teenagers now. Anyways, usually I don't like that Disney does sequels-Little Mermaid, Peter Pan, and now Cinderella-but Cinderella III looks really good. I just feel bad for the little girls that watch Cinderella then want to see Cinderella III and see how the evil stepmother says to Cinderella that it was a dream. Yeah, that will really mess up a little girl's thinking. But, I just thought that I would share my opinion on this upcoming Disney DVD release.
