R4 Release Update - Sleeping Beauty & Herbie Box Set

Post by Loomis »

If anybody is interested:
www.EzyDVD.com has put up for pre-order the previously announced 'Herbie Box Set' (4 DVDs) that contains Love Bug, Monte Carlo, Bananas and Rides Again. It doesn't seem as though it will be the full 2-disc SE of Love Bug, but it does seem to have the following listed as features for the set (but I assume they will all be on the first disc):
- That Loveable Bug
- Deleted Scenes
- Herbie Mania
- Audio Commentary
The EzyDVD link is here, but may I suggest that if international buyers were thinking of picking this up, wait for AtlanticDVD.com.au to post it:
http://www.ezydvd.com.au/item.zml/223454
It will be out on the 23rd of July.

In other news, Sleeping Beauty CE has been announced for 20th August in Australia. No feautures announced yet, but if history is anything to go by, it will be identical in every respect (except for the cover) to the UK edition.
The Ezy link is here:

Hope this interests someone. Even with shipping, the box set at the very least should work out to be very affordable for US buyers in particular.
And to remind, the local Fantasia and Honey I Shrunk sets come out the same day as Herbie, as does Roger Rabbit.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit:

Hope this helps somebody out :)

Loomis

Thanks for the info on the Herbie BS. I can't wait to order it, since it looks like we're only getting the SE one here in "Wonderland".

EzyDVD are listing the 3 "Honey.." films as a 4 disc set and the packaging clearly states "Special Collectors Edition"
http://www.ezydvd.com.au/item.zml/223455

Any news on what supplements the 4th disc will hold?
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

No news yet. Disney doesn't seem to announce supplements until just before the release date. Chances are we wont know until the start of July when the Disney site (local) gets updated, or unless a press release is sent to the retailers. I was surprised to see anything listed at all for the Herbie box set, but seeing as there will be some supplements and a complete set, I'll definitely buy the local.

Be assured that as soon as I know the details on the local releases, I'll post them here.

My only wish is that Disney would give us some indication as to specs - you know, before you actually have the thing in your hand.

I'm only holding back ordering this box until I hear some concrete specs, although all indications point towards the box containing the first disc as a SE (not the fully blown R1 SE, but containing the main extras), and three barebones discs.

Would sure like to know the aspect ratio, though.

In Brazil, "Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo", "Herbie Rides Again" and "Herbie Goes Bananas" are going to be release on July 10th. Unfortunately, they are just bare-bones and pan-&-scan editions.

Check out the covers:

I'm still not sure with the Australian release of these films.
Perhaps I should email Buena Vista Australia and see if they are of any help.
There was a previous bare-bones release of Love Bug here, but this seems to be a new edition in the box set as it has a number of extras that are included on the US Special Edition.

Hopefully this means they've got widescreen prints of all the films.

We seem to be getting widescreen prints of mosts Disney titles here (even those than the US is not in some cases, such as Country Bears and the Dalmatians box). So maybe that is a good sign.

Ok, maybe I'll see if I can dig up an email address for customer enquiries and get to the bottom of this!

BTW, those Brazilian covers look pretty groovy. Kinda like the Vault design with the simple ribbon at the top. I like that.
