Walt Disney's Legacy Collection: Volume 2 Discussion

Post by TheSequelOfDisney »

Well, in light of the upcoming Volume 2 of Walt Disney's Legacy Collection, it would be sweet, IMO, that a nice little thread be started. What are your expectations, and all that good stuff.

I am mostly excited about "Destino" (cancelled Fantasia 2006 segment). It looks very intriguing, and hopefully will become one of my all time favorite shorts. I don't know if info on just that will suffice a double disc set. Maybe the other "2006" shorts will also be on this set. Another interesting set is the "Oswald" set. I have never seen/heard anything about this little rabbit except for the fact that he was created before the mouse and some company stole him from Mr. Disney. And that it took over 78 years to bring him "home." Included on that set, I'm sure, will probably be a little something about that. I don't really know what to think about the "DisneyLand" set. I've never actually been there, and I really don't know too much about it, not as much as I would like. I guess all three of these should be in my DVD shelving unit when the time comes.

Release Date: Unknown

Happy Discussing!

I am looking forward to Oswald and Disneyland myself. Do you know when they will be released, TSOD?

I'm also very intrigued by Destino. It looks so modern and like a moving piece of fine tasteful art. I can't wait for it to be released. I also think the Oswald set is worth buying, it's good to view something that was created before Mickey Mouse. The Disneyland set doesn't capture my attention as much as Destino, but I know it's worth purchasing aswell. As a whole Destino is the dvd release of 2007 that i'm most excited about. Hopefully these sets won't have technical problems such as two of the previous sets.

I might get the Disneyland set since I haven't got the Disneyland Teasure Tin. I love watching Disneyland, since I am too far away from any of the Disneylands in the world.

Oswald's Legacy Dvd

Post by Mason_Ireton »

I'm so glad bout Mickey's "Stepbrother" returning to the Disney family, wonder how Walt might feel bout this, probaly alil stunned by today's Hollywood dealers. Can't wait for Oswald The Lucky Rabbit to come out, course I was hoping the series would be included in Walt Disney Treasures, I read an article somewhere online bout Oswald recieving a mega merchindise gigs in 2007. I'm kinda worried bout Disney revamping Oswald for modern times but I hope Iger leaves the rabbit alone for a few years (hopefully)

write back please

I think the only one you're missing is One By One, which was on the Lion King 2 DVD (and the main reason I bought that one...).

Thanks new I was missing one. Had not realized I had missed out on the short by not buying it. Oh well, I am sure it will show up on the Fantasia PE. What else could they put on that was not already in the Ultimate Edition.

Pity they didn't see fit to actually do Fantasia 2006; I would've liked to have another one.

I'm actually most excited for the Disneyland set. Second would be Oswald and Destino coming in at a close third. I just can't wait for any of these. This is such an awesome line. I ate up the True Lifes as fast as possible. If we don't get any more Treasures, at least we have a good line replacing them. I hope a date is announce soon. I mean, how is it that cover art is released before the date? That almost never happens.

With all this talk of Disney maybe canceling the Treasures line, maybe they can release the Donald series to the Legacy collection. Maybe the Donald toons released between 1942 and 1946 (the years spanned in Volume Two on the Treasures series) will receive more decent video updates they did NOT receive on the Treasures for some mysterious reason...

Since it hasn't been mentioned so far in this thread: "Destino" has its origins in the 1940s - as an unfinished collaboration between Walt Disney and the surrealist painter Salvador Dali.

Yes, they finished some piffling small amount - 17 seconds or so - of animation before pulling the pin on Destino in the 40s.

I'm quite interested in the Destino set, although it will depend what else it on it before I commit. If it's just the finished short, a few talking heads pieces and a shedload of concept art, I may not be so enthused.

But the Oswald set is a definite for me. Very much looking forward to it.

I believe that Roy said that they were working on a feature length documentary on the Walt/Salvador Dali collaboration. Should be interesting.

Hmmm, a documentary could be very interesting. Thanks for the heads-up!

Sounds like very little material for one DVD release, but it seems interesting enough - definite must-buy for me!

Well see, the big questions are a) how do we know that they will release the Donalds Chronologically in the Legacy series? and b) Even if they DO release them Chronologically, who's to say that they will pick up where the Treasures left off??

Seeing as how Donald Duck was not advertised in any way for the next wave of "Legacy," no matter how you look at it, we're in for a wait for the next Donald set if the Treasures are indeed finished.

I am actually more excited by this wave of Legacy than I have been about the last few Waves of Treasures.

The Disneyland: Secrets, Stories & Magic is naturally the one I crave the most, as I have a minor obsession with Disney parks. While it may turn out to be an extended vacation planning DVD, the original specs for this made it sound pretty good. We are yet to see a proper documentary on the history of the park, and this could finally be it.

Destino is something that I have been wanting to see for a while, and Oswald is something I've not seen in any form. My happy pants will be on (or off) for this wave!

are these going to be two-disc sets like the true-life adventures?

Even with a documentary and a stills gallery, it is hard to see how a short like Destino could be two-discs. And the disneyland secrets was originally to be one dvd. So I wonder.

I've been wondering the same thing, humphreybear. I guess the only way to really know is to wait until the press release. I mean, we don't even have a date yet. Just cover art and a small preview in the intro's on the first wave.
