I'm so there! I can't wait! Finally, I'll have the complete series of The Golden Girls, my favorite show of all time, on DVD!
Of course, I'm excited about the bonus feature listed, but, overall, I'm pretty disappointed with the way Buena Vista has treated this show on DVD. Oh, well. I guess we can't have our cheesecake, and eat it, too.
At least they are releasing all seven seasons of the show. Now, if only we could get that one little lonesome season of The Golden Palace. That's not too much to ask.

DVDTalk.com has posted their review for The Golden Girls: The Complete Seventh Season. It scores a "Highly Recommended" review!
The review can be found, here:
http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=26286
Of the bonus feature, the reviewer has this to say:
"The only extra feature available on the seventh season of The Golden Girls is a featurette that takes a look at the show as a whole. Bea Arthur, Rue McClanahan, and Betty White all chime in about various subjects in regards to the show. From what it was like working with each other to character personalities they talk about personal feelings and thoughts about what made the show so great. There are plenty of personal feelings expressed here as well and at one point Bea Arthur even begins to cry when thinking back to the ending of the show. Fans will appreciate this featurette but those looking for more will be left wanting."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Only a couple more weeks, and I'll finally have the complete series of The Golden Girls! I can't wait! I do hope that we'll get the one season of The Golden Palace, because that would be great addition to the collection!

Well, darn! I've been reading through some of the posts being made at @ccess the golden girls, and it appears that there is a misframing issue on some episodes. From one of the posts:
"As a follow-up to the cropping error I reported the other day on Discs 2 and 3, just to let you all know that I e-mailed Buena Vista to tell them about this problem. I've found it quite distracting having two black bands on some of the episodes - the tops of heads get cut off and it generally looks 'wrong'. I've not had a response yet - though I'm not expecting much, as this is BV we're dealing with. I don't know what action they may/will take, but I thought it was worth letting them know. I have managed to ease the problem with my Panasonic DVD player by setting the zoom to x1.11. That just gets rid of the black bars and leaves the TV screen full of picture. However, no picture can be gained back - everything just looks closer/bigger. At least it is something. I'll just have to remember to do this each time when I watch the affected episodes. Here are the ones I've spotted so far:
From Here To The Pharmacy
Questions And Answers
Home Again, Rose (Part 1)
One Flew Out Of The Cuckoo's Nest"
Then, the poster replies with:
"Just to keep you all up to date, I've had this e-mail back from Buena Vista:
Dear Robert,
Thank you for the e-mail regarding your The Golden Girls: The Complete Seventh and Final Season DVD. We are concerned about your inquiry and would like an opportunity to address this issue with greater detail. We are currently researching the issues that you are describing. We ask that you please send us your full mailing address and phone number so that we may contact you as soon as we have a resolution. Please respond back to us answering the following questions.
· How long have you owned the DVD?
· What store did you purchase the DVD from?
Please reply to this email with the added information including your full mailing address and phone number, with this information we will better suited to find a solution to this issue. You may also contact us at 1-800-723-4763, Monday's 9:30-7:30 and Tuesday through Friday 9:30-6:30 CST.
Thank you,
Walt Disney Home Entertainment Technical Support"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Several other members are reporting the same issue. So, it looks like this is a defect with the way the DVD set was mastered. I'm going to go ahead and pick this up. It appears that Buena Vista is now aware of the problem. I'll be watching to find out what action they take. If they do a disc replacement program, great. If not, then at least I'll have them on DVD. I'm just hoping that if the problem is widespread, Buena Vista will do a disc replacement, because it would suck to have this problem, and not do anything about it. I'm interested in reading Aaron's review, which I was hoping we would have before the set came out, but, it doesn't look like that is going to happen.

I'm working on the review now. Just finished all the viewing earlier today. Hopefully I can get it to Luke sometime tomorrow. I can confirm that there are in fact some framing issues in several of the episodes, but that it's hardly a major distraction. I'll talk about it in greater detail and provide caps in the review.

As far as pure comedy and writing go, I have to say (in my opinion of course) that the last couple of seasons of the Golden Girls (6 & 7 mostly) are my least favorite. Of course die hard GG fans like myself know that the writing staff was switched up midway through the series and I feel that the last couple seasons are not as funny and the story lines aren't as good as previous seasons. In my opinion, seasons 2 - 4 are the ones that shine brightest. None the less, I am still highly anticipating tomorrows release of Golden Girls Season 7 so I can finally finish off my complete series.

Excellent review, Aaron! Although I'm finally happy to have the whole series on DVD, it's kind of sad that the end has come. It was always fun (and a little frustrating), waiting for the next season to be released. I must say that I've enjoyed reading ALL of your reviews for this series. I'm hoping you'll get to do one more, though, for the spin-off, The Golden Palace. As always, I'll be anxious to read it!

I just had a quick question... I recently bought season 7 and theres seems to be some sort of flap like for an insert but mine didnt have one... was there one?

From Aaron's Review:
Surprisingly, there is also an insert inside the case for a series of Lifetime network specials, which are also available on iTunes.
My guess is these were first-printing inserts only, so you're not missing much (unless you really really really wanted to know what the Lifetime specials were circa February 2007)
