I say wait until we receive a press release on this title. If it's exactly like the 25th Anniversary Edition but with new games and that TV show episode, then just snag the new disc. If it drops any of the substantial features from the previous release (featurette, Day for Eeyore short, art gallery) then get the old DVD. Like I said in the other thread, I have no intention of buying this unless they add something substantial and/or give this a new transfer (and even in the case of the latter, it has to be something special because the current DVD looks great, especially in the first 2/3).

Thanks Disneykid! The thing is, the auction ends on the 14th of January, and it's a pretty good deal. I don't really care for the games, or the TV episode. I wonder what they could add that would be substantial, besides a commentary. And the likes of that aren't very good. I'll think about it, and get back to everyone later.

I have the 25thA and I'm happy with it. There's enough Bonus stuff on that one and the new "Friendship Edition" title is just ridiculous. It sounds like something educational for 5-year-olds.

the only reason I will pick this up is because I missed the 25th Edition... Shame that a wonderful movie is gonna be ruined by a terrible title...

My favorite title would have been the "Silly Old Bear"-Edition!! Much better than the stupid friendship thing we're getting now!

Yes! I love Winnie the Pooh and I don't own this DVD. I'll put this on my list for purchasing.
Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.

The only way I would even consider buying this is if it presents as bonus features the three original shorts with original title cards, or even through seemless branching allows it as a possibility. Other than that I doubt Disney will improve upon the previous disc (which is quite hefty in terms of bonus fetures for a 1 disc DVD), in fact this edition will quite possibly be worse than the last!

Maybe Disney's newer DVD discs should learn something out of Pooh's stoutness exercise.

Tigger's nose looks TOO red! But other than that, the cover art looks nice.

So, I just got home from work and I see the news on the website that the new DVD is going to carry over all the bonus feature of the old one. I'm so excited now! I missed out on the first release and was planning to try to track down a used copy. I don't need to now. And to top it all off, I like the new cover art better than the old one. This news made my day after a crappy night at work!

WOW, I am so in love with the cover!!! I don't own the previous one so I will definitely buy this one. I love how they didn't overdue The Friendship writing, and kept it small. I am so excited about it, and I am also looking forward to it now because of the cover even more!!!

I'm in the same boat as alot of other people here. I missed the 25th Anniversary release, so I'll be picking this one up for sure!

This is a case where I didnt' even hear that the 25th anniversary dvd was going OOP.. maybe we don't get as many notices in Canada.

Anyways, I'm sure this will be a great release, although I'd love to see a 2-disc Pooh release. With all the books, movies, and tv series there would be more than enough content!

This is EXCELLENT news!! I missed out on the 25th Anniversary Edition, so I'm really glad that the bonus features are being carried over. Does this mean that the new edition will be 2 discs?

Love the cover art too!!! Gorgeous!

Probably not. The only thing new is a TV episode. UD Front Page accidentally states that Disney Storytime: "Pooh's Shadow", Pooh's Pop-Up Fun Facts, and the 100 Acre Wood Challenge game are new, when they appeared in the 25th AE as well. :P

Looks like a pass for me, unless they're planning on issuing this in widescreen. All it'd be is a new slipcover and 22 minutes of a CGI show I likely won't watch beyond a first viewing, and the 25th AE suits me fine.

I do like the cover art, though. It's not quite as classy as the old version (I love the metallic silver border!), but is really nice.

The cover art is cute and pretty classy, but there's two things off about it: 1) I don't like how Pooh is repeated twice. I'd rather they replaced the "Pooh stuck in Rabbit's doorway" image with Christopher Robin, Kanga, and Roo to go alongside Rabbit. 2) Something's off about Pooh's face, and I can't exactly pinpoint what. I think it might be that his eyes and eyebrows are too bold and thick. I know that sounds random and picky, but that's why we have forums like this. Really, though, I do like the cover, even if I admit I prefer the 25th Anniversary one. The logo's nice, too, though I never associated Pooh with purple (I would've chosen an autumn color like red, orange, or brown).

Well, TheSequelofDisney, if you're still watching, you can go ahead and pick up this new disc without hunting the old one on Ebay. I'm very glad to hear everything's being ported over. This doesn't seem to be as much of an upgrade as it is a re-issue, which is fine by me since I won't need to double dip, and people who missed the old disc won't lose out. Luke made a mistake in his description, though: the Pooh's Shadow storybook, 100 Acre Wood Challenge, and Pop-Up Fun Facts features were on the old disc, meaning the only addition is the TV episode.

EDIT: Aaaand Escapay beat me to it. :P

The disc will lose a couple features, though. Mainly the 2002 trailers and the whimsicle menus, which will most definitely succumb to EasyFind Icons and a FastPlay option. Boo to EasyFind, Eh to FastPlay!

I actually don't think the menus will be trashed. Disney re-used Dumbo's menus for the Big Top Edition and simply added EasyFind icons beside the existing text. I think the same will happen to Pooh (at least I hope so; I love the menus on the current disc, and the score accompanying them makes me wish Disney would release a freaking soundtrack for this film, already).

Ah, didn't know that (don't have the Dumbo BTE). Well, can cross that off the short list of things dropped. :P

I like it better than the original DVD art...but it's still not as good as the VHS art (which seems to be opinion on most DVD releases as of late).
