DVD Giveaway Contest
Just thought that I would let you know how great of an idea it was to create a DVD giveaway contest. It tests our Disney knowledge, as well as gives away a free DVD. How awesome is that! I don't know of anyone who would refuse a free Disney movie.
Do you plan on other contests in the future, maybe with more difficult questions?

I'm glad you like the idea. Unfortunately, I don't see another contest happening soon.
It's not that I don't like the idea, and I don't want to give something back to visitors of the site/Disney movie enthusiasts...it's just that the cost comes out of my pocket, and the site's already an uphill battle in terms of cost vs. return. If traffic increases (and therefore, affiliate moneys), I'm absolutely for another contest!
The odds of winning this one are pretty good, actually as there's only been a little over 100 valid entries with the correct answers.
As for the trivia questions, they were in part designed to be just easy enough for people to search through the site's sections and see all the info there, and still allow pretty much anyone the chance to win. But, believe it or not, a number of people got these simple questions wrong. Perhaps if future contest(s) happen, the trivia questions will be harder. But I really want everyone to have a fair shot at winning.
We'll see. Thanks for the feedback!

Not to nitpick, but isn't Peter Pan SE out of print? I thought you said they had to be in print.

Congrats Doug.
I too would like to see more of these. But I understand the financial constraints of running a website.
Hate to see this site run out of funds!
What would I do with myself?
See, it is always about me

It would actulally make more sense to do it in September and let the winner choose one of the major new releaases for then.
The Brave Little Toaster
The Brave Little Toaster Goes to Mars
The Brave Little Toaster to the Rescue
Escape to Witch Mountian SE
Return From Witch Mountian SE
The Apple Dumpling Gang SE
Sleeping Beauty SE
Holes (Widescreen)
Or maybe a Lion King giveaway in October (although obviously not the gift set, since it'd probably be too expensive for you to buy one of those for yourself and one for the contest.) Just suggestions.

I very much like the idea of choosing any Disney DVD. For one thing, it's a benefit of not just getting product that the studio is giving away for the contest. Since the cost of the DVD is coming out of my wallet, allowing the winner to choose from any number of DVDs is beneficial.Jake Lipson wrote:It would actulally make more sense to do it in September and let the winner choose one of the major new releaases for then.
That way, people won't settle on one of the titles being given away that they might not be crazy about or may not have much interest in seeing. By letting them choose, whoever wins is guaranteed to get something they like.
Nonetheless, if we have another one in the late summer, and I hope we do, September's titles will be fair game to choose, as will anything else that's in print or in stock at Amazon.
