Anybody see this year's Tournament of Roses Parade?

Post by Timon/Pumbaa fan »

Because if you didn't, you sure missed out on a lot!

A lot of great floats and marching bands. It was much better quality than last year as it wasn't raining(plus I got to see it for the first time in High-Definition :D).

There were great moments such as a float with two dragons breathing fire and a guy experimenting with a jet-pack. But of course, the real highlight for me(and most) was seeing the 2 Star Wars floats and a marching band playing Star Wars music as well as a group of Stormtroopers marching in honor of Star Wars turning 30 this year. George Lucas was also Grand Marshal. Really good choice.

So what did everyone else think?

I watched it and really enjoyed it! I loved the Star Wars floats, but my favorite was the "Oklahoma Rising" celebrating the Oklahoma Centennial float where the guy flew out of the gift with a jet-pack on and flew above the crowd. I live in Oklahoma, so I guess I'm a little biased.

I caught bits and pieces, including half the Star Wars float, a few WDW plugs, and the Marc Cherry interview. From what I saw, it was definitely better than some I have seen in the past. Was Mickey there? Is he ever there?

I also saw the Oklahoma float that DisneyPrincess mentioned but totally missed the flying jet-pack guy. I guess I wasn't paying attention.

I saw most of the Tournament of Roses Parade and also DVD+R like I did last year. Yeah, last year was worst also all the rain made it more depressing.

I know that part was totally awesome! It was like watching the Rocketeer but real life.

I liked the two dragon ones too and the ones with the animated frogs drinking water was really good.

I don't remember much else, since I fell asleep halfway through.

Aaron, what were the WDW plugs? Were there any Disney themed floats?

Not that I saw. There were just some WDW TV spots and the commentators said things like, "Of course, the football team has been spending a lot of time having fun at Walt Disney World."

There was a float from Anaheim that had the Disney monorail. That's as close as it gets to Disney...

What was surprising to me was that Stephanie Edwards did not serve as host for the Parade this year (at least for KTLA).

He was only there once in 2005, and it was because he was "Grand Marshal".

Ok, I thought I had seen him there last year.

Cool, Leonia! Wish I had seen that float.

I never miss it. And if 'SC is involved in the game, I never miss the game, either.
