You can also watch almost all episodes on youtube. The whole first season is uploaded there in Japanese with English subs.

I also think it's possible there will a US release, except they'll probably release it as an uncut version just for adults. Let's be selfish for once, not every cartoon or animation is meant for little children.
I agree. Also, I meant to say before that the main reason I ended up with only the last 2 Super S DVDs is because I found them at 8.99 at Target and Wal-Mart (I think that's where). I wish they had gotten them all, but they only seemed to carry the last two. And no, they didn't have the others before. Definitely, price influences my purchases, ha. I rarely by new releases anymore, unless I'm dying for them. I prefer to wait for the price to go down or to dig through the 5.88 bins.

I didn't enjoy the 5th season. I thought it was crap with those boys who are girls and the final season wasn't nearly as good as for example the two-part final of Season 1.
I'm a completist, so still have the desire to see and own the final season, but I have to agree that, from what I've seen of further seasons, and despite my desire to see some stuff with Sailor Saturn in it (I probably have some in my DVDs, but haven't watched 'em), I do prefer the first and second seasons also. They ARE adorable and mostly lighthearted/simple, which is a big part of the charm of the show for me. Of course, the main draw for me was always the gorgeous girls in a variety of cute outfits fighting monsters, ha. Which is really the main draw Anime has for me, ha. While Disney draws me one several notes, with Anime it's mainly the gorgeous girls with big eyes and cute hair!

I recently ordered Ninja Scroll 10th Anniversary Special Edition and Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust. I have both of these but I don't have Vampire Hunter D on dvd. I heard that Ninja Scroll's 10th Anniversary edition was matted to make it widescreen. So they cut pieces of the artwork from the top and bottom, that sucks that they weren't able to make it widescreen without cutting pieces off. Both these dvd's are soo expensive in the Best buy, Target, Walmart and Amazon websites, the funny thing is that they're all sold out in most of these sites. I got Vampire Hunter D for $9 with shipping included sealed.

I was reading something about Ninja Scroll how there's a corrected edition, what did they correct exactly? Many people were quite offended when watching the rape scenes ( I don't blame them one bit), I still to this day have trouble watching those scenes, but I mainly bought it for the action and because I have fun when I watch this film. I'm excited to watch Vampire Hunter D on dvd.

So have any of you guys bought any new Anime dvd's recently?

Technically it wasn't considered rape as the girl intended to have sex with that man in order to poison him. (her flesh is poisonous).

DVD i'm getting is Hellsing Ultimate OVA volume one. Better than the tv series.

What man are you talking about? As far as I know, she was forced to have sex with both Devils/villains. The first devil forces her and threatens to kill her if she doesn't allow him to rape her and says he doesn't mind raping a dead girl ( therefore she gives in, because she doesn't wanna die, although I think he was gonna kill her anyway). The second time the other devil captures her and ties her up and takes advantage of her while she's unconscious. So she never intended to have sex with anybody except Jubei, but that was because she was in love with him and wanted to save him (remember the old man poisins him with a ninjas star), she wasn't a sex thirsty woman that had sex with random men.

I ment demon but kinda look like a man. The one i'm talking about is the first one. though the dude made it or he thought he was taking advantage of her. She knew what she was doing anyway. And end up killing him.

Great movie though.

Are you talking about the guy that turns into a rock? Okay when all the ninja's get slaughtered by the rock guy, she is the last one left. She tries to escape but he catches her and once she's falling off the tree she passes out. Then he takes her to a room and starts to take advantage of her, she wakes up and he grabs her by the neck and then has his way with her until Jubei rescues her. Is that the guy you're talking about? And she didn't know what she was doing, it's not like she wanted to get raped or asked for it. Ofcourse she contributed to his death, but she didn't plan it.

The second time the other guy gets her when she's standing next to a tree. He takes her to a cabern and ties her up and also takes advantage of her. She's poisinous I know but she's a ninja girl who came across to me as a strong respectable woman. The only time she did wanna have sex was with Jubei because she wanted to cure him by fighting poison with poison. In the whole movie she didn't come off as a slut. I know once you read this your gonna be like "why is he expalining the movie to me?", but my point is to explain to you that she was raped twice, if you don't consider what those monsters did to her rape then I don't know what else to tell you.

Ok, I was looking to see what Anime lovers in this forum think are the top of the line Anime Films.

I personally love Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust. As I've expressed my feelings for it before, it's one of the best Anime Films artistically. Once you catch first glimpse at it you know it's gonna be a stunning movie. The films CG are so well executed and integrated into the film that it's tough to depict what's 2D and what's CG. This film took three years to make and I can see why it did. The color palette is so dramatic and dark, but not to the extend where it's hard to see the artwork. Every character in this film is displayed with extreme detail, architecture is simply beautiful. There is no reason not to watch this movie, unless you don't like zombies, warewolfs and vampires. The film is not even that bloody as others I've seen. People that want to arouse their sense of sight will do well to watch this movie, trust me it's worth it.

Revolutionary Girl Utena: The Movie is one of the most stylish and glamorous movies I've ever seen. The color palette is just outstandingly vibrant, bright and breathtaking. Again with the architechture, let me just say it is very unique. Characters are beautiful, as you know in Anime male characters are far more beautifully drawn than female characters, and that is the case here. Female figures are also drawn very well with curves in their bodies. I really like this movie and know many of you fantasy lovers will too. This movie aims to impress and will not dissapoint. By the way Utena drives this very cool car in in the ending scenes that morphs into two different models, how cool is that?

These are just two films I wanted to comment on that I feel are top quality films, but there are far more movies out there that should be seen. Most of these movies are for mature audiences and adults.

I thought Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust was a good movie with great fights but the plot felt a little cookie-cutter to me. It was definitely better than the original movie though. As for the Utena movie, I think it has the best dancing scene featured in anime and the revamped character designs improved some of the characters (most notably Anthy). The movie by itself may confuse people so I would advise watching the TV series first. I agree that it is a visual feast!

I'm not the type who watches feature length films a lot but I would recommend any title by Satoshi Kon and of course, the Ghibli movies. How are you enjoying Hellsing Ultimate, Super Aurora? Did you get the standard or limited release?

Oh, hello I don't believe we've met. It's nice to meet you. Yeah i agree some stories aren't very easy to follow, but what movie is? Every movie has something wrong with the story. I hope to see you here more often, I'm glad someone besides myself and some other members are interested in Anime.

^ I agree with you to an extent because Utena is a title that thrives on symbolism. I just finished a series called Texhnolyze and even though the plot is kind of straight forward, there are subtle interpretations to be made in order to get a big understanding.

Right now I'm trying to marathon through my backlog...I finally have vacation from school and work! My purchases for this month consists of:

Elemental Gelade volume 4
Fighting Spirit volume 15: One Step Further
Fighting Spirit TV Special: Champion Road
Flame of Recca volume 10: The Final Showdown
Full Metal Panic! TSR volume 2
Full Moon wo Sagashite volume 3: I Want You to Hear it!
Hellsing Ultimate OVA volume 1
Kamichu! Volume 4: Holiday Confessions
Kodocha volume 10: Birthdays, Kisses and Misses, Oh My!
Kyo Kara Maoh! Season 2 volume 1
My-HiME volume 6
Naruto Boxset 2 UNCUT
Paradise Kiss volume 1 + Artbox
Rumbling Hearts volume 1 + Artbox
Trinity Blood volume 3 LE

Wow, I haven't seen many Anime series lately. The last one I saw was Kaleido Star. It's a really nice series of a circus girl. Have you heard of Shitajiki AKA Pencil boards? I collect those. Tell me all about Hellsing, it seems rather interesting, is it Demonic? You should really consider watching Chrono Crusade, that is if you haven't already done so.

^ I finished the second season of Kaleido Star a while ago and it was very good. At first the thought about a circus anime made me skeptical but it has really good character development. I own Chrono Crusade and thought it was excellent but that ending was depressing. I've heard of pencil boards and I get them with some of the DVDs I buy. They're nice to have but I don't really use them for their intended purpose (a flat surface to write upon). Guess you can say they're just something nice to own and collect.

Hellsing is about an organization that gets rid of vampires and the main weapon is actually a vampire named Alucard ("Dracula" spelled backwards; the Japanese spelling is Arucard since the sound for "r" and "l" interchange). It is pretty violent with lots of blood but I would recommend it if you enjoy that type of stuff. There are 2 different versions of it: a 13 episode TV series and an "Ultimate" series. The TV series was made years ago and has an original (and weak) ending that deviates from the manga. The Ultimate series is a straight to video release (still ongoing in Japan) that is a retelling more faithful to the manga. It sports better animation and is more detailed. I must admit that the music in the TV series is better though.

I actually didn't finish watching the second season of Kaleido Star but I really hate that blue haired girl (the girl that tries to be better than Sora). Hellsing sounds very interesting, I think I'll watch it when ever I get the chance. Is Hellsing like Witch Hunter Robin with blood? And I totally agree with you about Chrono Crusades ending, it's soo sad. Pencil boards are highly collectible, I've seen auctions for them go up to $200.

May Wong? Yeah she's very annoying and I didn't like Leon's snobby attitude as well. They both get fleshed out and become more likeable than their initial appearance. I have not seen Witch Hunter Robin but based on the premise of it, I would say it's similar except Alucard is a badass who loves to destroy his prey. For which series do you see pencil boards go up to $200? That's a lot for one piece of plastic.

Well once I saw one auction go up to $150 for a Chrono Crusade one and for Comic Party. The one's that mostly go up to $200 are Doujin boards of original artwork.

Below is a pic of a board I might purchase once it comes out.
