well, I bought 3 together at the same time which were

1. Spider-Man
2. Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring Extended Edition
3. X-Men 1.5

And I'm not too sure, but I think my first Disney DVD was The Lion King PE. My parents bought it for me after they gave my VHS copy to my little cousin... which I dont even like.

oh god, I wanted to kill her... but on the other hand, I did get a free PE. Little did I know it would come in handy when I would go Disney DVD crazy. They spared me the trouble of having to hunt down an OOP PE on the internet. :D

Savage Garden's "Superstars and Cannonballs: Live and On Tour in Australia".

This would be around August 2000, when we just got a new computer with a DVD-Rom drive, but no DVD player.

I think my first DVD was the two-disc CE of Disney's Tarzan. That was in 2000. I started buying DVDs because it had become really hard by then to get more Disney animation on laserdisc...

Josh wrote:My first DVD would've been in December 2002, about 1 month after my house burnt down, I was on the news, and according to Columbia Tristar, I was cute, so they gave me heaps of DVD's and a free DVD player as a Christmas present, I got some more DVD's from some other movie companies, but Columbia gave me the most :P The first DVD in the box that I noticed was Spider-Man. I was so obsessed with this movie. Anyhoo, the VHS's burnt and I have never gone back.

So my first DVD (that I noticed) was Spider-Man. :)
got any links to the story on any news sites?

anyway my first DVD was probably, I don't know it was so long ago and I probably don't have it anymore but the oldest DVD in my collection is LATT2

My first DVD was just the regular original 1-disc Disney's Tarzan DVD.
But the thing that makes Woody special, is he'll never give up on you... ever. He'll be there for you, no matter what.

In my opinion, Moulin Rouge is a wonderful way to start your DVD collection! :)

Wow, guys, so many answers!!! I apologize to those who had already posted in the old thread, but I tried to search for a thread like this, but I never found one, so I opened this one.

Now, my first DVD was Dirty Dancing Special Edition back in 2004 (I know, I started late :D ) We got a free DVD player with my new cell phone and so I went looking for my very first DVD. I had seen Dirty Dancing the previous week and wanted to hear the English version (they only showed the German one on tv) so I bought that DVD.
My first Disney DVD was Brother Bear and I bought it on the day it came out.
Both are not my favorites, but quite entertaining.
My absolute favorite DVD is the BatB PE thar I bought off ebay new and sealed. I could watch that one all the time.

That DVD is cool, I have all 3 of the Hallmark volumes.

I wished They'd come out with more, I'd also like to see more silents.

I believe it was around late 1998/early 1999 that I made the upgrade to DVD, and the first DVD would have been something like Yellow Submarine. The first one I bought anyways (the first viewed was a rented copy of Ronin).

Either that or A Bug's Life.

However, technically I bought Kundun from the US first (which I see was released late 1998, so perhaps I did buy my player around then) but it didn't arrive until after I'd made some local purchases.

Post by Jasmine1022 »

the first dvd that i owned was The Glass House. I had never seen the movie, but my mom and dad bought it for me because we just sold our VCR and they wanted me to have something to watch! the first dvd that i bought was actually just a few years ago, for a friend's birthday. usually i just sucked up to my dad and asked him to get it for me but i bought my friend 'speedway junkie' for his 16th birthday with my own money.... so, whichever answer you prefer.

oh yeah! first disney dvd-- lady and the tramp PE

What Was Your First DVD?

Post by DisneyFreak5282 »

I started a topic in General Discussion about your first DISNEY DVD, but this one is just about first DVDs in general.

Nov. 2002 - My family got a DVD player, out first 'family' DVD was "The Concert For NYC". I just dug it out today, and it has that fat, double-case like "Snow White"! :D

May 2003 - I got my OWN DVD player for my birthday. Along with it, I purchased the Jackie Chan movie "The Tuxedo" in FOOLscreen. I have since then traded it in to GameStop, because it froze in alot of spots. I have yet to rebuy it in WideScreen.
