The one thing that I remember about the old Disney Channel was the shows like "Good Morning Mickey", "Donald Duck Presents", "DTV" and "Mouseterpiece Theatre" with the late George Plimpton, the guy who was a spokesperson for Mattel's Intelivision system which was Atari's competitor. I used to watch it since I was a kid and I do miss them. The other thing I always love was the overnight block called "Vault Disney" where they used to run old Disney movies from the 50's, 60's and 70's as well as TV shows like "Disneyland", WWOC, WWOD and "Disney's Wonderful World". I used to taped it off of the old Disney Channel until "Vault Disney" got canned in 2002. I have lots of movie that I used to taped since the old Disney Channel had "Vault Disney" on. But now, Disney Channel is currently air reruns of "Lizzie McGuire", "That's So Raven", "Kim Possible" and all of the shows that are not even good at all. I missed the good old days of the old Disney channel. :(

I got the Disney Channel 5 years ago - before I could only watch it when they had "Free preview" weekends and when I visited my grandma. Now they've really changed it and not for the better.

They used to air up to 3 movies a night. They aired Ink and Paint Club (which I never stayed up to watch, but I knew it was on).

They don't even air mickey mouse cartoons or anything classic disney. I remember when they aired an episode of the Babysitters Club television/direct to video series. They don't do that anymore.......

Such a waste of the Disney name. :(

I also think they should start a whole new Disney channel. But if they show movies too, I wouldn't want them to just show the classic-era classics. But yeah, they just show far too much of their "new" shows and programs and it's wearing them very thin.

Was rummaging though my old VHS tapes from the 'good old' days of the Disney Channel and found that I have four hours (two tapes) of DTV, and I was watching them this morning and realized what a great concept that was. Clips from classic cartoons put to rock and roll oldies, what a concept. Looks like I have found some more stuff to dupe across the DVD+RW.

I really miss the days when Disney Channel had the "Vault Disney" block overnight, and they way they used the DTV's as fillers between shows. And also they never interrupted shows for commercials. Those were the days.

Yeah, those were the days.

I used to love DIsney Channel I don't watch it anymore though. Full of garbage now. It went downhill as you said when Vault Disney was cancelled.

Now it's just a retarded piece of junk, filled with modern tv shows.

EWWW! lol

I wish they would still show old shows like Alice's Adventures in Wonderland!!! I used to love that show. Plus, I can remember staying up late to watch re-runs of Zorro on Vault Disney.

Another issue is Disney's "classic" channel Toon Disney is not a regualr cable channel--you have to pay extra to get it (and thousands of other channels I'd never watch anyway). That hurts! If Toon Disney was offered as a regular channel perhaps it would take away the sting of this Disney Channel we know of.

Some places Toon Disney is on basic cable. It was on Basic cable in Alaska when I went up there.

I'm glad that so far there are no plans for a Vault Disney Channel; if I ever had it, I'd end up failing my exams since I'd be watching it and not studying. rotfl

Can you explain what specific songs is on your DTV tapes? Also, I remember a lot the promos that happened between shows, like the "Coming up next" bits. Does anyone have any videos of those?

TDC finally went downhill when it became part of the standard cable package about 5 years ago. Up until then, it was a premium channel that you had to pay extra to receive. Like someone has previously mentioned, when it was a premium service the quality was higher due to the fact they had to offer something different to attract viewers. Now that its available to everyone with cable there just isnt as much money being put into the programs to improve the quality. I blame ABC for the problem more than Disney.

Does anyone have any good videos of the Disney Channel in the 1980s? I searched all over YouTube and even MouseBits, but I turned up empty-handed, or at least insufficiently-handed.

I have a tape or two of all the old stuff back in the 90's that my parents taped for me, here's a list of whats on one of them:

Sing Along Songs - Bare Necessitites

Charlies Brown - The Episode when Peppermint Patty is in a Ice Skating competition

Merry Melodies - Bugs Bunny in Scotland

Merry Melodies - One Froggy Evening

Tiny Toons - When Plucky and Hamton blow up Hamtons house

Darkwing Duck - When he goes back in time to fight King or w/e his name is

Elmer The Elephant - OMG I love this cartoon I never knew it was Disney till I saw it on the Dumbo DVD

Mickey and The Beanstalk

Dumbo - The Full Movie

Winnie The Pooh and Christmas Too - During a commercial break the characters are in whats his faces office decorating a palm tree, I think it's Miller, or whoever was in charge than

Donald Duck in Hockey Champ

Donald Duck in Bearly Asleep

Sing Along Songs - Heigh Ho

Mickey Cartoon - The Eps. when he and Pluto are on the train

Mickey Cartoon - He does a magic show

Chip'N'Dale Cartoon - They harass Pluto and Mickey in a cabin

Mickey's Trailer

Mickey and The Seal

and finally Mickey, Donald and Pluto in a Eps. where they are Mt. Climbing

I can't believe the tape isn't all garbled and gross, I love watching it whenever I get tired of all the crap thats on nowadays. Family Channel sucks, I've thought about sending them an email telling them to put better shows on like I did to YTV when they took Sailor Moon off air and replaced it with even more Spongebob   Anyways I never watch Family Channel anymore since there's nothing good on, I put my dvd's in of Ducktales and Rescue Rangers and watch them like that instead.

I have all those cartoons on some of my own homemade tapes, as well as on the Disney Treasures line. But what I'm after is some stuff between shows: i.e., coming up next parts, announcements for upcoming shows, DTV songs, subscription phone numbers, etc. For instance, I have a video with some sequences showing the Disney Channel's subscription phone number of 1-800-544-3456. Does anyone have any clips online, or even just a video I can find like that?
