"Sky High": Sequels? TV SERIES?

Post by SofaKing381222 »

According to IMDb:
IMDb wrote:According to actors who auditioned for various roles in the production, the main children's parts are to be contracted for not only a sequel but also a possible television series on the cable Disney Channel.
I loved the movie, and I am always open to spin-off shows and sequels, but I doubt that this will go over well with the rest of the UD-ers.

From a review at IMDB: http://bullz-eye.com/mguide/reviews_2005/sky_high.htm
IMDb's Jason Zingale wrote:The plot behind “Sky High” is a bit of a throwaway, mainly because it’s just like every other teen dramedy we’ve seen, except with superheroes, but it’s pretty good for a Disney movie. Does that mean that a sequel will come out of this? Probably not. But I wouldn’t be surprised to see a Disney television series born from its success.
How would you feel if Disney makes a "Sky High 2" or a "Sky High: The Series" I would LOVE it!

I want a sequel to focus much more on Steven Strait's character, Warren. He was the best thing about the movie for me. I hope in a sequel, his father breaks out of prison and he has to face off against his past.

Well...I wasn't to crazy about the movie, but then again I hardly ever really like the superhero movies (I didn't even like The Incrdibles that much) so I probably wouldn't be first in line to see any future ones, but I guess I'd watch them eventually.

I am up for a sequal and tv spin off, I doubt that they would be able to get some of the movie actors like Bruce Campbell, Kurt Russell and Monk for the tv show though.

I think Bruce Campbell will come back. The other's probably not, but Bruce Campbell has done TV before.

i think that either a sequel or a tv series would do well.. i think that the film had a great cast and the potential for a sequel is higher than i expected.. and it didnt flop with the critics

I haven't seen it yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if this happens.

1. The movie is actually doing pretty well. So far on it's first weekend it's doing better than "Must Love Dogs" and "Stealth", both movie I thought would do better.

2. If this does happens I would want a sequel, NOT a t.v. show. Because if they do a sequel it's most likely that the cast will all return. On a t.v. show it's most likely some of the people(well Kurt Russel to be exact) won't return. Also I never liked shows made from movies.

That'd be cool. I havent seen the movie yet. But, I think a show would be really fun to watch. I dont have cable so I wouldn't see it, but still.

I just got back from seeing it and I think that a t.v. series would be nice to see. It could follow the characters in the rest of "boring" 9th grade or in 10th grade. I'm am also open to a sequel or two.

Just saw it and loved it and want more, so I'd watch a sequel and/or a TV series based around these characters. Really well done.

Hey, is there any news as to whether a sequel or a TV series is gonna take off or not? I recall that the first was fairly profitable, so are these gonna happen and does anyone know anything about it?

Thanks,

P.S. Hey Escapay, the search option saved the day again! :D
Cheers,

Yeah I would love to know too. I would think it would what with the whole "Heroes" show being the hit it is with today's audience.

Personally, I thought Sky High was abyssimal. No offense to any of you, but I can't believe anybody liked it! The plot was completely lame and predictable and a sequel would just add salt to the wound. Oh well, I guess this was expected...

I for one would love a sequal - but I dont see it happening mainly because it didnt pull in the greatest amount of money - and we know thats what drives the sequals.....

Well I hate Kelly Preston, but I liked the movie, her part aside.

I'd go see a sequel.

But it had a much smaller budget, and most likely didn't have huge percentage deals with the actors and filmmakers.

If Pirates of the Caribbean cost $100m to make - a random number, I haven't looked on IMDB - then it needs to make (on the face of it) $200m to make a 100% profit*

If Sky High cost $15m to make, it only needs to make $30m for the same profit.

Meanwhile PotC stars two very popular actors, who probably get a percentage of the box office (eating into the profit) and Jerry Bruckheimer Films actually makes the Pirates movies, and Jerry Bruckheimer is the most powerful man in Hollywood today outside the major studios, so I would expect him to to have a percentage deal for his company.

I doubt any of the Pirates films have made money just from theatrical showings. But in Pirates favour, it most likely has made Disney a lot of money on toy and merchandise sales.

But Sky High turned in a good profit, especially when Home Video is taken into account, and doesn't rely on big stars for its draw, meaning its much easier to produce spin-offs. I can easily see it happening.

* But this is wrong, because theaters take a percentage of all ticket sales, to it probably needs to make $250m - $300m
