Today is the 40th anniversary of Walt Disney's departure from this world. He did more in 65 years than most people could do in ten lifetimes. Of all the people who have lived in all of history he's in my top ten. Walt may not be too pleased with some of the avenues his company has taken to increase their bottom line but I think there are also many things he would have loved. If Walt had been alive it might have Disney who had been the innovator of CGI for animated cartoons instead of Pixar as he was all about progress and moving forward. May he rest in peace!

Yes we were very saddened. I was only 10 years old and I remember our teacher telling us with tears in her eyes. I don't think there was hardly a child who did not know who Walt Disney was.PixarFan2006 wrote:I can imagine how sad everyone must have felt when he died 40 years ago. He was not even that old. R.I.P. Walt, we'll always remember you.

I wasn't even born since Walt died and so does my brother. I was born in 1978, 12 years after he passed away.
If you look at other movies and cartoons, people would remember Walt as a true icon in American culture.
My mother was 15 years old at the time when Walt died, my grandmother was 43 at the time as well as my second grandmother was 48 when he died. Those are families whom remembered the day Walt Disney passed away.
He was a true legend. I've seen Walt on TV for years during the 1950's until he passed away on his old Disney TV show like "Disneyland", "Walt Disney Presents" and WWOC. But you might see him again in numerous DVD from the Walt Disney Treasures and Platinum Editions too.
