Well, it is deffinatly a PREQUAL. No doubt about it, as Tara Strong (who played Melody in TLMII), said on her official myspace that 'Mermaid 3' was a prequal, and Melody WILL NOT be in it. But Tara will be back doing voice work for some of Ariel's sisters.
What do you guys think about that then?? Our suspicions were correct, it will be a prequal! And I guess that means the title "Ariel's Melody" will not be used.
And here is a mock up of the cover art for the DVD that a fan made:
Yesterday I was watching the tv series and the one episode I watched was interesting in that Ariel saves Hans Christian Anderson. I thought that was a neat episodes and how the ending was made. it was really well done.
nothing to do with this prequel but it was neat since the tv series technically was a prequel.

Yea, the "Metal Fish" episode. I really like that one! Its one of my favorites.
"Hip hop frightens you, doesn't it....Hmmm...Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate. Hate leads to endlessly posting threads about stupid white people. Hmmmmm....."
Awww I remember that one as well! I think that was the very last episode that aired on UK TV, on ITV.
Does anyone have any of these old episodes on DVD, as I saw a youtube video of the introduction to 'Ariels Undersea Adventures' on DVD. I'll se if I can find the link for everyone.
That YouTube video was a fan-made trailer of a DVD that person was wishing for... There is no official release of the "The Little Mermaid" series on DVD. Some Episodes, however, are on some Disney Princess DVD's.
Some of the Little Mermaid Tv Series shows have been showing up on the Disney Princess Stories DVD's. I forget which volume I saw it on but one of the espiodes was on it. I was like I know this espiode, that was from the tv series.
Did anyone else do this but in the preview for TLM III, when the locket is falling did anyone slow it down and try to read the letts on it. I can't make it out but I figured I would ask.
I can't wait to get more information on this movie and same thing with Cinderella III. I know it is called a Twist in Time but I wonder how the ending is going to turn out.
Does anyone know when the Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea or Cinderella 2: Dreams Come True or any of the Beauty and the Beast's will be coming back on DVD's? Thanks.

Isn't that actually just the scene from TLM2 where Melody's locket falls down into the sea?

Yes, but all the animation in that trailer is from TLM and TLM2. I think someone on here also mentioned that the music was from Pirates of the Caribbean. Nothing from or telling us about the actual movie.....
1) People have said the music is simmilar to Pirates of the Caribbean; it is not the actual music.
2)If you watched the first Cinderella III trailer, you would see that it too was made up of entirely old footage, except for the "What If" sections, just like the only new Little Mermaid footage was the new logo, and CG water. Also, I have read somewhere that Jodi Benson re-recorded the "Ahhh Ahhh Ahhhhh Ah Ah Ahhhh" bit.
Well, like you said about Cinderella III, they added some footage from the actual movie in the second version of the trailer. I'm just waiting for that..... Oh, Jodi's singing in the trailer is actually taken from Vanessa singing in the first movie.

The singing part I don't think I agree on; my older half brother saw a very brief video when he was in Disneyland Paris a few weeks ago, showing upcoming Disney movies. And they showed Jodi singing the aria (right word?) part, and she said something like "this is so exciting". Thus, this leads me to believe that it has been re-recorded for the third movie. It might play a pivitol role? I'm not sure, but I think she has re-recorded it. .
The other movies showed nothing special, just trailers for Cinderella III, and Rob Paulson doing dialogue, and some others he cant remember! Honestly, my brother is hopeless; I had to drag this info out of his brain when he got back, as he only went 'for the rides'. tut tut tut
hmm? not sure. But I think it is from Vanessa singing on the beach..cuz it sounds exactly like it..who knows. Jodi Benson probably did re-record it for something in the movie...Im actually excited for this one..since its a prequal...hopefully it will be a good one.
I first read on another board that it was Vanessa singing that part, or rather... they used that same recording. I listened to both version a few times and it sounds the same to me. But... I'm really excited to hear Ariel/Jodi's new songs in the movie....
It could very well be the same. But I think it's incredible how simmilar Jodi Benson sounds, from the original movie to the TV series, the sequal, toys, dolls and DVDs. Proof of her amazong talent, I think! And its so cool that on the Platinum DVD, when they have the 'Ride that almost was', she recorded a little line for it. Something like, "Someday I'm gonna part of that world". Just really, really cool.
As we are talking about the music, does anyone know who is going to score it? And write the songs? As I really loved some of the songs from the TV series, and if they are better then that, then it's all good! I especially loved 'In Harmony'.
Wouldnt it be wonderful if they got someone like Rachel Portman to do the songs and score, like she did for Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas? As the songs were beautiful.
The music will probably be done by composer "Joel McNeely", as he has composed the music for the latest sequels, including the yet to be released Cinderella III.
The music of the tv series was composed by "Mark Watters", and he has frequently worked with Disney on the music of "Kronk's New Groove" and "Pooh's Heffalump Movie" (together with Joel McNeely by the way). So it could be that he teams up with Joel again to compose the score for The Little Mermaid III.
Danny Troob, the composer of the second sequel's music will most definately not return, as he hasn't worked for Disney since the second sequel of TLM he composed.
